Novak Djokovic has been named a honorary citizen of Bosnian city Visoko, Mayor Mirza Ganic announced. On Wednesday, Djokovic attended the special ceremony held at the Archeological Park in Visoko. In March, the Archeological Park foundation started building two tennis courts – one hard and one clay court.

Djokovic, who has become a frequent visitor of The Bosnian Pyramid of the Sun complex, launched the two courts by clashing Ivan Dodig, Aldin Setkic and Aljaz Bedene in an exhibition. After launching the courts, Djokovic left a positive review and thanked to everyone who took part in the special ceremony held at the Archeological Park in Visoko.

“Thank you for making such a wonderful event. Thanks again to Semir and Sabina. The courts are excellent, the quality is great, thanks to Mr. Aljas, Ivan and Aldin for taking their time. I and the whole organization appreciate you coming here, I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart, thank you to the volunteers who collect the balls.

I hope you enjoyed the program, we had fun on the field, in the spirit of unity we sent messages of peace for the future, sports and health,” Djokovic said.

Djokovic will now likely take a break and much-needed rest

On Sunday, Djokovic defeated Nick Kyrgios in the Wimbledon final to lift his 21st Grand Slam title.

After winning Wimbledon, Djokovic flew to Bosnia to attend the launch of tennis courts at the Archeological Park. Djokovic promised he would be at the launch of tennis courts and he kept his work by showing up a the Archeological Park on Wednesday.

Since Djokovic likely won’t be allowed to enter the United States for the US Open series, he could be sidelined for an extended period and we may not see him in action until the fall and the indoor-hard swing. Djokovic himself admitted he is not really sure when he will play again but added he is hoping he gets a chance to compete at the US Open.
