The All India Football Federation (AIFF) have sacked Indian women’s Under-17 assistant coach, Alex Ambrose for sexual misconduct just two days after he was recalled from a camp in Europe citing ‘misconduct’,
Dr. SY Quraishi who is a member of the Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) which is running the AIFF on interim basis confirmed the same on social networking site, Twitter.
“Alex Ambrose, Asst Head Coach of Under 17 Women’s team has been sacked for sexual misconduct. Further action under process,” he tweeted.

As per a report in New Indian Express, head coach Thomas Dennerby himself was a witness to the “incident” and it was he, who immediately informed the AIFF.
The Indian under-17 women’s team is currently touring Europe as a part of the exposure trip planned by the Swedish head coach Thomas Dennerby ahead of the World Cup, which will be played in India starting October this year. Dennerby took charge of the under-17 team after India completed its AFC Women’s Asian Cup campaign earlier this year.
Sexual harassment cases are emerging in Indian sports, intermittently. Recently a female cyclist had accused the national coach of inappropriate behaviour during a training trip to Slovenia. The coach was sacked and is facing a detailed investigation. A female sailor had also accused the accompanying coach of making her uncomfortable during an exposure abroad.
