Two-time Indian Super League (ISL) champions, Chennaiyin FC have confirmed the signing of Iranian defender, Vafa Hakhamaneshi as they prepare to challenge for the title in the upcoming league season.
Hakhamaneshi who becomes the Marina Machans first Asian signing, comes with vast experience as he has played in countries ranging from Iran to Thailand – while turning out for several clubs in the Persian Gulf Pro League which is the first tier league in Iran.
“I feel proud to join the team to represent Chennai. I will fight with all my might for the pride of the city and the people,” he said after signing for Chennaiyin FC.
“Vafa Hakhamaneshi is a towering addition to our squad. Having played in the Iranian first tier league and the AFC Champions League, he will be aware of the challenges that lie ahead of us,” added CFC co-owner, Vita Dani.
Chennaiyin have been one of the most busiest clubs in the current transfer window, recently bringing in their first overseas signing in the form of Senegalese defender Fallou Diagne and the addition of
Hakhamaneshi will no doubt give them that extra steel and bite in defence as they head into the new ISL season.
