The Centre Court action concluded at Wimbledon on day two as Serena Williams makes her return against Harmony Tan. It’s the American’s first singles match since the first round at Wimbledon 12 months ago, when she managed six games before having to withdraw against Aliaksandra Sasnovich. Injury had kept her away from court until she played doubles at Eastbourne with Ons Jabeur.
This will be Tan’s first ever main-draw match at Wimbledon, with the 24-year-old hoping that there will be signs of rust from Williams. It’s difficult to know where expections are for Williams, who herself will be targeting a deep run across the next two weeks.
