Mohamed Salah has sent a farewell message to Sadio Mane after the Senegal international sealed his move to Bayern Munich.

Mane moved to the German outfit in a £35.1million move but had to bid farewell to Salah, and the exchange between the pair speaks volumes about their special relationship. But Mane’s departure will present Liverpool with a fresh headache as Salah’s future at the club is far from certain.

The pair both had one year left on their contracts at Anfield but there is no resolution in sight in the negotiations to keep hold of Salah and it remains to be seen whether the Reds will change their stance and offer Salah the sort of money Mane was asking for. Meanwhile former sporting director Michael Edwards has been linked with taking on a similar job at either Chelsea or Manchester United.

Salah shared a message on social media about Mane alongside a number of pictures of the pair together as he wished his former teammate “all the best in your new adventure”.

And Mane responded to the kind message to show his respect for Salah, calling him “the best”.

The Egyptian has just a year left on his contract with the Reds, just as Mane had before leaving. But, in a similar case to negotiations with Mane, the Reds have made it clear they are unwilling to break their strict wage structure to meet Salah’s wage demands.

And Mane has shown Salah that it is possible that he could obtain exactly what he wants – if he is willing to walk away from the Anfield club entirely.

Edwards linked with new role

Former Liverpool sporting director Michael Edwards could be offered a similar role by both Manchester United and Chelsea.

The former Reds transfer guru is on the lookout for a new job after stepping down from his role at Anfield earlier this year. His glittering CV from his time at Anfield is bound to lead to plenty of suitors, with both Chelsea and United now looking to reshape their recruitment teams.

But Chelsea may have the advantage over United as they can offer a return to London for the former Spurs analyst.
