World No. 36 Lloyd Harris has surgically repaired his right wrist damage and he is set to be out for the rest of the 2022 season. Harris, who had been bothered by a wrist injury for quite some time, decided to undergo a surgery and focus on getting back to 100 percent.
“Hi guys just wanted to let you know that I decided to do surgery yesterday on my right wrist an that everything went really well,” Harris wrote on Instagram. “I have been struggling with severe pain over the last couple months which has not allowed me to be near my best so surgery was my best and only option.
I will unfortunately be out until 2023 but I am confident that i will return being super healthy, motivated and eager to achieve my goals. Big thanks to my doctor, my team, sponsors, family and friends and every1 for your messages and support!

Not a memorable season for Harris
Harris, 25, enjoyed a career-best season last year, but got off to a rough start to 2022.
It was evident that Harris was struggling with something as he lost his first five matches of the year. Harris’ first win of the season came in March, when he defeated Israel’s Daniel Cukierman at the Davis Cup.
After a rough start to the year, Harris found his game a bit at the Miami Masters, where he reached the round-of-16. In Barcelona, Harris made the last-16, before he was forced to retire versus Alex de Minaur. Even after the Barcelona retirement, Harris decided to continue playing, but it didn’t go well.
Harris picked up four first round exits in his next tournaments played, including a straight-set defeat to Richard Gasquet in the French Open first round. Now, Harris will take his time to recover and hopefully return fully healthy in 2023.
