Jamaica vs. Mexico live score, updates, highlights & lineups from CONCACAF Nations League

Win, and do it in style. That’s the difficult task facing Mexico in a tricky CONCACAF Nations League away match in Jamaica. The Reggae Boyz have typically given the Mexican national team all they can handle in past matchups.

El Tri is coming off a 3-0 win over Suriname on Saturday, and although the scoreline was more than acceptable, the manner in which the match unfolded was heavily criticized as fans at the Estadio Corona chanted “Fuera, Tata” (Tata Out) throughout the match.

Struggles in generating meaningful attacking buildup and a lack of a scoring touch in the box have been a common theme as Mexico has stumbled through a handful of friendlies against Nigeria (2-1 win), Uruguay (3-0 loss) and Ecuador (0-0 draw).

It has only ramped up the pressure on El Tri’s coach and raised the tension around the team. A misstep in Kingston would only fuel the criticism in the coming months with the next chance to take the field coming on Aug. 31.

Sporting News is following the match live and providing live score updates, commentary.

Jamaica vs. Mexico lineups

El Tri will have their hands full with the fleet-footed Leon Bailey and Junior Flemmings on the wings with Ravel Morrison pulling the strings. Shamar Nicholson has already shown to be a force, scoring against Mexico in the Estadio Azteca in September 2021.

Jamaica starting lineup (4-2-3-1, left to right): 1-Andre Blake (GK) — 3-Jamoi Topey, 17-Damion Lowe, 4-Amari’i Bell, 21-Javain Brown — 22-Devon “Speedy” Williams, 19-Kevon Lambert — 12-Junior Flemmings, 10-Ravel Morrison, 7-Leon Bailey — 11-Shamar Nicholson

Jamaica subs (12): 2-Thomas, 5-Simpson, 6-Scarlett, 8-Magee, 9-Lowe, 13-Foster, 14-Chong, 15-Green, 16-Parris, 18-Bygrave, 20-Aarons, 23-Waite

Tata Martino gives Rodolfo Cota another chance in goal, while Kevin Alvarez and Jesus Gallardo are back in the lineup at fullback. Luis Chavez, who was one of the more lively players against Suriname, gets another start in midfield.

It’s a big opportunity for Orbelin Pineda and center forward Santi Gimenez on the forward line. Uriel Antuna is likely a lock to Qatar given his game-breaking speed, but Pineda and Gimenez are definitely on the bubble.

Mexico starting lineup (4-3-3, left to right): 12-Rodolfo Cota (GK) — 23-Jesus Gallardo, 3-Jesus Angulo, 4-Julio Cesar “Cata” Dominguez, 2-Kevin Alvarez — 14-Luis Chavez, 7-Luis Romo, 15-Fernando “Nene” Beltran — 10-Orbelin Pineda, 9-Santi Gimenez, 22-Uriel Antuna

Mexico subs (12): Carlos Acevedo (GK), David Ochoa (GK), I. Reyes, Julian Araujo, Erick Sanchez, Erik Lira, Rodolfo Pizarro, Sebastian Cordova, Diego Lainez, Marcelo Flores, Henry Martin, E. Aguirre
