The NCAA baseball tournament is wide open this year. Defending Men’s College World Series champion Mississippi State won’t be playing in the postseason in 2022. Tennessee leads the way this year after a 53-7 season that included a 25-5 record in Southeastern Conference play.

The conference tournaments have wrapped up across the nation and the top 16 seeds have been selected. Sixty-four schools will compete in the regionals. They’ll be playing to move on to the super regionals and then a spot in Omaha.

NCAA baseball tournament bracket 2022

The NCAA released the baseball tournament bracket on May 30. It listed the 16 host sites and ranked the nation’s top teams. Tennessee (53-7) is the No. 1 overall seed after defeating Florida in the SEC Tournament final.

Teams will compete to move on to the super regionals. The top seed in each bracket will face the No. 4 seed and the middle two teams will play each other to begin double-elimination regional play. A team will need to total three wins in a regional.

In the super regionals, the winner of the No. 1-seed Knoxville Regional will take on the winner of the No. 16-seed Statesboro Regional, the No. 2 regional winner will take on the No. 15 regional winner, and so on, in best-of-three series for a berth in the Men’s College World Series.
