India men’s national team head coach, Igor Stimac has confirmed that they are working on “set-pieces and on certain aspects of our attack and defence” as they prepare for the upcoming 2023 Asian Cup qualifiers.

The Blue Tigers are currently preparing for the qualifiers at Kolkata, with Stimac’s side drawn in Group D alongside Hong Kong, Afghanistan and Cambodia. However, they go into the qualifiers on the back of three losses to Bahrain, Belarus and Jordan in international friendlies.

India though face weaker opponents in the qualifiers as compared to the opponents they played in their recent friendlies – something which has given fans hope of a better showing.

“It’s the final week and there are a few things we are working on — putting in the final touches. We are working on set-pieces and on certain aspects of our attack and defence. Obviously, there are different aspects to each of these. There are certain issues, especially with niggling injuries to some players, but we are dealing with them as best we can,” Stimac said at a press conference.
