In May 2021 at the PGA Championship he signed perhaps the biggest feat of his career becoming, at 50 years, 11 months and 7 days, the oldest winner in a major. From 19 to 22 May in Tulsa (USA), Oklahoma, Phil Mickelson will be the great absentee of the 104th edition of the coveted tournament.

Outgoing champion, the Californian first announced his presence on the pitch only to think about it later. Away from the green since last February, “Lefty” has ended up in the crosshairs of critics for the harsh accusations made against the PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia.

Since 2012 he has been a member of the World Golf Hall of fame. According to Forbes magazine, he was the 8th highest paid sportsman in the world in 2014 with $ 50.8 million. Over the course of his almost thirty-year career he has been in the top 10 in the world according to the Official World Golf Ranking for over 700 weeks, reaching the second place on several occasions, but never the first, in a period dominated by Tiger Woods, of which Michelson was one of the few rivals capable of putting him in trouble.
