The secrets of Liverpool’s FA Cup penalty shootout success against Chelsea have been revealed by a top football psychologist.
Liverpool beat Chelsea 6-5 on penalties to lift the FA Cup at Wembley on Saturday, defeating the Blues for the second time this season in a cup final shoot-out. Kostas Tsimikas slotted home the sudden-death winner this time around – and Klopp’s actions before the shootout even began have been praised.
It comes as Linda Pizzuti Henry, the wife of Liverpool’s principal owner John W. Henry, shared her delight at seeing the Reds lift the trophy. And Gary Neville has predicted a late “twist” in the Premier League title race between Manchester City and Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s actions after the extra-time whistle was blown helped Liverpool achieve FA Cup penalty shootout success, according to a football psychologist.
Football psychology researcher, consultant, and speaker Geir Jordet has shown just how premeditated the Reds manager’s plan was – and how ruthlessly it was executed in another show of the squad’s ‘mentality monsters’ characteristics. Klopp quickly approached his penalty takers, asking them privately if they wanted to step up for the team.
He also had time for a quick team talk and messages of individual encouragement – all before Chelsea counterpart Thomas Tuchel had finished writing his list of kick takers, and Liverpool’s preparedness may well have helped hand them the advantage, Jordet says.

John Henry’s wife could not hide her delight and admiration for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team after they lifted the FA Cup at Wembley.
Fenway Sports Group partner Linda Pizzuti Henry took to social media following the 6-5 penalty shootout win over Chelsea on Saturday. In a post on Instagram she shared her delight by writing: “From 700 Clubs to 1. What a season. What a club. Also, I still can’t handle [the] stress of PK’s [penalty kicks].”

Neville predicts title ‘twist’
Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville believes there could yet be a late “twist” in the Premier League title race.
Liverpool now trail Manchester City by four points following Sunday’s 2-2 draw between West Ham United and Pep Guardiola’s side. The Reds also have one game in hand meaning the could claw themselves to within a point of their rivals with a win over Southampton on Tuesday.
And Neville has declared there is still “a twist somewhere” as the season reaches its climax.
