Gosser Open, Alps Tour restarts from Austria

After the stops in Egypt and Italy, the Alps Tour restarts from Austria where the 30th edition of the Gosser Open will be staged from 12 to 14 May. The event will be held on the GC Erzherzog course, in Maria Lankowitz, and will be played with the Stroke Play formula over a distance of 54 holes (18 per day).

150 athletes will participate in the race and, among them, also 26 Italians.

Leading the Italian expedition will be Stefano Mazzoli, winner in 2022 of the Ein Bay Open in Egypt and second in the order of merit of the circuit (behind Koen Kouwenaar, fresh champion at the Molinetto Alps Open), Gregorio De Leo (runner-up , as an amateur, at the Gosser Open in 2021), Luca Cianchetti, Edoardo Raffaele Lipparelli (number 1 of the Alps Tour in 2019), Andrea Saracino and the emerging Andrea Romano, Riccardo Bregoli and Jacopo Albertoni.

Also present was the amateur Flavio Michetti. Among the candidates for the title also the Spanish Manuel Morugan (champion at the Miglianico Golf & Country Club of the Abruzzo Alps Open, opening race of the Italian Pro Tour 2022), the French Adrien Pendaries and the Swiss Mathias Eggenberger, respectively, first and second race of the Winter Series of the Alps Tour (which were staged at the Terre dei Consoli Golf Club in Monterosi and at the National Golf of Sutri).

Without forgetting the Portuguese Tomas Guimaraes Bessa (his New Giza Open). The tournament will offer a total prize money of 42,500 euros, in 2021 the French Paul Elissalde won. This week, there will be 150 players competing from 17 different nationalities for the title.

The players in the field will be playing for a prize fund of €42,500 and 45,000 points. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the event, the promoter has invited five players from the Legends Tour to take part in this special edition.

Clark Dennis, Markus Brier, David Morland IV, David Shacklady and Peter Wilson who all played last week (May 6th-8th) at the nearby Legends Tour tournament at Golf Club Murhof will be competing this week.
