The PGA Tour season continues with the AT&T Byron Nelson 2022, one of the most frequently changing locations on the American calendar. Since last year the home of this tournament has been located in McKinney, Texas on TPC Craig Ranch.
The reigning champion is Korean Kyoung-Hoon Lee, who managed to get the better of Sam Burns and Daniel Berger for his first career success.
AT&T Byron Nelson 2021, schedule
Lee will be among the many protagonists present in Texas this year.
First of all obviously Scottie Scheffler, the number 1 in the world who returns to the game after winning the Masters Tournament and the pairs tournament of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. With him also present great champions such as Justin Thomas, Xander Schauffele and the “host” Jordan Spieth.
Among the big favorites there will also be Will Zalatoris, Dustin Johnson and the Japanese Hideki Matsuyama, returning after the Masters, tournament in which he crowned Scheffler as his successor for the green jacket. Francesco Molinari, who was absent last year on this route, will also be present at the start.
The course is a Par 72 of 7,468 yards, with grass in Bermuda and very undulating greens in Agrostis. The layout is typical and traditional, with four par-5s, four par-3s and ten par-4s, defended by Rowlett Creek which crosses the area and comes into play on 14 of the 18 holes.
The most challenging really tough holes will be the short par-3s, three of which are over 200yds even if the size of the green is quite easy, while the par-4s and par-5s are relatively short and can be attacked especially by the more powerful players.
Lee turned professional in 2010 and joined the OneAsia Tour for 2011, earning his card through qualifying school. He finished 39th on the Order of Merit with his best finish being a tie for sixth. He joined the Japan Golf Tour in 2012 and recorded a runner-up finish in his second event of the year. He won the Nagashima Shigeo Invitational Sega Sammy Cup in July.
