The case of alleged accounting fraud during player transfers has irritated Italian football for several months. Several Italian professional and amateur clubs were in the sights of Italian justice for having artificially raised the value of certain players in order to fix their financial situation. Eleven clubs, including five from Serie A, have been appearing since Tuesday morning before the disciplinary bodies for having “recognized capital gains and transfer rights for values greater than those authorized”according to the Italian Football Federation.
And the first sanctions fell. A year of suspension was requested, this Tuesday, against the president of Juventus Turin, Andrea Agnelli. Other representatives of the bianconeri are involved like Pavel Nedved, vice-president of the club, which 8 months of suspension. Juventus could also have to pay a fine of €800,000. Eleven months were also required against Napoli’s Aurelio De Laurentiis and could be ordered to pay €392,000 following the transfer of Victor Osimhen. Genoa, Empoli and Sampdoria Genoa are also involved in this case, as are five clubs from lower divisions.
