Asked after FC Barcelona’s victory against Osasuna on Sunday (4-0), about the future of Ousmane Dembélé, author of two assists against the Rojillos, the Catalan club’s international football director Jordi Cruyff said he still hoped see the French winger extend at Barça. The Barcelona leader, however, remained cautious about the extension of Dembélé, whose contract expires next June, because it is a hot topic within FC Barcelona.

“The situation regarding Dembele’s extension is not easy, but we have to accept it. I think the most important thing is that he continues to help the team and the rest, we will see. He had a good game, like many players who finish their contract with the future already settled and others who are looking for a better contract. That he continues to help the team achieve maximum goals and the rest we can’t control.”, Cruyff explained after the game. Close to a departure this winter, the 24-year-old Frenchman has since been reintegrated into Xavi’s group, he has played 19 games with Barça this season, scoring two goals and providing seven assists.
