Lucas Hernandez is currently living his third season at Bayern Munich after joining the Bavarian club from Atlético de Madrid against a check for 80M euros. If his first seasons were often complicated by injuries and by the choices of Hansi Flick, the current exercise under the orders of Julian Naggelsmann seems to be going much better for the Frenchman since he is favored by his coach. However, he does not have those of a German club legend, Lothar Matthäus, who openly criticized him a few weeks ago: “Hernández is certainly an unpleasant opponent, but he always makes a lot of mistakes and is often too slow in duels.”
The agent of the 2018 world champion Manuel García Quilón stepped up to defend his player in the columns of Sports1 : “Matthäus was a great player. I respect his opinion of Lucas, but I don’t share it. Lucas is undoubtedly one of the best players in his position, for me one of the two or three best central defenders in the world. His performance is top notch! And at FC Bayern, we are very happy with him. Lucas feels very good in Munich, he is happy and gets on really well with everyone – with the coach, with his teammates, but also with the officials. »
