Thunderbolt in the Bundesliga since the leader, Bayern Munich lost 4-2 against Bochum despite a brace from Robert Lewandowski. Borussia Mönchengladbach against Augsburg (3-2) and Wolfsburg against Eintracht Frankfurt (2-0) won and relaunched in the standings.

Yesterday, RB Leipzig shone against FC Cologne by winning 3-1 for the opening match of the 22nd day. Moving up temporarily to fourth place, the Saxons recovered. This Saturday, the multiplex was notably marked by a match between Bayern Munich and VfL Bochum. Traveling to the promoted, the Rekordmeister took little time to stand out and quickly took the lead via Robert Lewandowski (1-0, 9th). While we expected an easy match for Julian Nagelsmann’s band, Bochum did not let go.

Bayern Munich turned off the light

Christopher Antwi-Adjei launched in depth took advantage of the hesitation of the defense to put the two teams tied (1-1, 14th). Dominating Bayern Munich deployed their game, but failed to regain the lead against a well-established Bochum team. Losing more and more balls, the Bavarians ended up conceding a penalty through Dayot Upamecano and Jürgen Locadia was quick to convert it (2-1, 38th). Stunned, Bayern Munich sank before the break and Cristian Gamboa (3-1, 40th) then Gerrit Holtmann (4-1, 44th) got the better of poor Sven Ulreich.

Largely led at the break, Bayern Munich came close to humiliation at the start of the second half, but the achievements of Patrick Osterhage (47th) and Christopher Antwi-Adjei (49th) were logically refused for offside positions. Bayern Munich responded via Leroy Sané (60th) then Robert Lewandowski (63rd) and the latter finally reduced the score (4-2, 75th). It was his 26th this season in the Bundesliga. The siege began on Bochum’s goal and Robert Lewandowski notably sent a free kick on the crossbar. With this 4-2 defeat, Bayern Munich stagnates and is 9 points ahead of Borussia Dortmund, who play tomorrow against Union Berlin. For its part, Bochum is eleventh and takes six points ahead of the red zone.

Wolfsburg and Mönchengladbach react

In the other meetings, Freiburg snatched the draw (1-1) against Mainz. Alexander Hack launched Mainz (31st), but Nils Pedersen answered him (69th). Freiburg is now fifth while Mainz climbs to ninth place. In a complicated dynamic, VfL Wolfsburg moved away from the red zone by offering Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 following a penalty converted by rookie Max Kruse (28th sp) and a goal from Dodi Lukebakio in the last seconds (90th +3). The Wolves go back to 12th place while Eintracht Frankfurt slips to tenth place. Borussia Mönchengladbach also gave themselves some air by dominating the barrage Augsburg.

Manu Koné (30th) and Jonas Hofmann (46th) scored for the Fohlens before Iago (55th) reduced the score for the Bavarians. Ramy Bensebaini (67th) breathed new life into Adolf Hütter’s team, which won 3-2 (Alfred Finnbogason scored in added time in the 90th +3) and moved up to 13th place. Finally, the match between Hertha Berlin (14th) and Greuther Fürth (18th) allowed the red lantern to win 2-0. It took just 27 seconds for Sweden’s Branimir Hrgota to find the net. The latter then transformed a penalty to give scope to the result (71st).
