ExxonMobil, NCDMB swimming teams in bright start at NOGIG 2020 — Sport — –

The swimming pool of the Chevron Recreation Centre was the centre of attraction yesterday as athletes continued the search for medals at the 2020 Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry Games.

At the end of events yesterday, ExxonMobil and NCDMB swimming teams showed early promise as they claimed two gold medals each from the events.

NLNG also won one gold, one silver and one bronze medal, while Shell bagged one gold and one silver medal.

Other companies that won medals after yesterday’s events include NNPC and DPR with one silver, two bronze medals each, while EROTON and NAOC won one silver and one bronze medal each.

As more events will be concluded today at the Chevron centre, Gbagada, all eyes will be on Hendrik and Jacqueline Smit, the swimming couple representing NLNG.

In yesterday’s events, the duo showed a lot of promise in their individual events.

In Chess, at the end of yesterday’s competition, Chevron was leading the pack with 13 points after round 5. NNPC and DPR were joint second with 91/2 points, while SEPLAT was placed third with 71/2 points.

Other companies that showed great promise in the battle for medals on the chess board include ExxonMobil and AGIP with seven points each, Shell with six points while TOTAL, NLNG, PTI and EROTON follow in that order.

In Scrabble, Mkpakaboari Jack of Shell leads the pack after round 12 concluded yesterday. Iyanari Nsikan of DPR follows in the second position, while Etemu Osu of DPR and Samuel Anikoh of SEPLAT are third and fourth respectively.
