Goal feast in Kaduna play-offs |

It was goal feast in Kaduna as the last leg of the Regional Play-offs of the on-going Etisalat U-15 School Cup got underway in the ancient city on Tuesday with the opening fixture between General Hassan Usman Unity College, Bauchi and Unity College, Dutse, Jigawa States producing 12 goals after the former trounced the latter in the sensational game.

The fans that thronged Ahmadu Bello Stadium, venue of the play-offs, savoured exciting soccer moments all through as the Bauchi lads walloped their Jigawa counterparts 12-0.

The second match of the day between Government Day Secondary School, Gusau, Zamfara State defeated Sultan Bello Secondary School, Sokoto, 3-2.

It was battle for supremacy between Government Secondary School, Kaduna, and Government Secondary School, Kano as both sides fought hard with the first half ending goalless.

Kano’s Buhari Musa opened scoring seven minutes into the second half but Kaduna came back forcefully 15 minutes later to level the score-line through a penalty spot. With two minutes to the game, defender Benedict Clement completed the turnaround for Kaduna with another goal that gave the home-boys 2-1 win over the Kano boys.

Commenting on the matches, Director, Brand and Experience; Etisalat Nigeria, Elvis Ogiemwanye, said, “Many of the football stars that we celebrate today began their career from competitions such as the Etisalat School Cup. This is why we are happy that Etisalat is enabling young footballers to develop their talents.”
