Akwa Ibom splashes N10m on Super Eagles |

As a token of its appreciation for a job well done, the Akwa Ibom State government on Saturday gave N10m to the Super Eagles. The state, which hosted the Gabon 2017 AFCON qualifier between Nigerian and Tanzania on Saturday, also gave $10,000 to the Taifa Stars, reports Africanfootball.com.

“The Eagles got 10 million Naira and Tanzania were given $10,000 by the Akwa Ibom Government,” a team official announced.Akwa Ibom Governor, Emmanuel Udom, was the special guest of honour at the AFCON qualifier staged at the magnificent Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo.

Oil-rich Akwa Ibom finance Nigeria premier league club Akwa United, who lost 3-0 to the Eagles in a test game on Wednesday.Both teams were received at the Government House shortly after the match, which Nigeria won 1-0 courtesy of a late Kelechi Iheanacho goal.
