Special Olympics is a global movement of people creating a new world of inclusion and community, where every single person is accepted and welcomed, regardless of ability or disability.

Their last outing at the Special Olympics was one that Nigeria has never achieved, as 42 athletes won 71 medals at the Games in Los Angeles, United States.

This outing would not have been possible without the help of certain individuals and organizations that believe in making the world a better, healthier and more joyful place by volunteering their resources.

The organization, knowing the sacrifice their sponsors made, rolled out the carpet last week to appreciate them at an informal dinner for their kind gesture. Plaques of appreciation were also handed to them.

In a statement, the National Director Special Olympics Nigeria, Naomi Saliu-Lawal said: “It is an opportunity for us to say thank you to our partners, sponsors and donors. We do send them letters of appreciation, but its always better when you see them face to face and get to meet the names behind the companies and also have the sponsors mingle, you know we have corporate and media partners so it is a family gathering where everybody gets to know the other.”

One of the sponsors, the Manager Media Communication Exxon Mobil, Oge Udeagha, who represented the company stated: “Exxon foundation has been very active in supporting initiations around health and empowerment, especially for women and youths.
