The National Sports Commission (NSC) yesterday said its 140-bed High Performance Hostel for athletes would save cost and enhance sports development in many respects, reports the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Alhassan Yakmut, the NSC Director-General, while briefing newsmen in Abuja said the new hostel with 53 rooms and a cafeteria was a top ranking camp for athletes.
The hostel located in package B of the Abuja National Stadium, will be inaugurated today by Vice-President, Namadi Sambo.
The NSC director-general said the hostel’s completion was important ahead of Nigeria’s preparations for the 2015 All-Africa Games (AAG) scheduled for Sept. 4 to Sept. 19 in Brazzaville, Congo.
“The hostel has 140 beds with a cafeteria that can sit 140 people in a very conducive environment.
“All the 53 rooms are well-equipped and air-conditioned and when commissioned on Wednesday will be accessible to Category A athletes from June 16.
