ENYIMBA midfielder, Kingsley Sokari, whose 83rd minute header helped the ‘People’s Elephants’ to a 3-0 victory over Buffles de Borgou in the opening round of the CAF Champions League, says the feat has made him a happy boy.
The midfielder was man of the match, providing great defensive cover and launching swift counter-attacking moves.
His 83rd minute goal doubled Enyimba’s lead, before new signing Peter Onyekachi sealed the fate of the Beninoise with a third.
He told the club’s official website: “This is exactly the kind of game that I enjoy. In the CAF Champions League, games are harder and more technical, so when you play well and win by three goals, as a player you feel good.
“We didn’t know anything about them (Buffles) until game day when we played them so I am happy that I did my own part to help our team win. Now we would play the second leg with some confidence, since we have faced them and know their strengths and weaknesses.”
Sokari scored in his first CAF Champions League game against Anges de Notse in the opening game of last year’s competition and have repeated the feat this year.
“Yes, I scored when we started our Champions League campaign last year. Today we have played our first Champions League game of the year and I have scored again. I give God the glory. Hopefully, we would qualify from this round and I can score again in the next games.”
Buffles de Borgou will host Enyimba in a fortnight in Cotonou.
