Nigeria under-20 national women’s football team coach, Peter Dedevbo, has been included in a list of ten candidates for the 2014 FIFA World Coach of the Year award for Women’s Football.
Dedevbo, a former coach at the women’s Under 17 level, led the Super Falconets to a second-place finish at the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Canada, where they lost by a slim margin to Germany in the finals.
Best known for his preference for total football, the Falconets scored 15 goals throughout the campaign and conceded seven times; the only time they failed to score being in the final against Germany in Montreal on August 24.

Germany U-20 coach, Maren Meinert, and Spain’s U-17 and U-19 teams’ handler, Jorge Vilda, are also in contention amongst others.
The list of ten nominees have been compiled by experts from Fifa’s Football Committee and Committee for Women’s Football and the FIFA Women’s World Cup as well as a group of experts from France Football. Captains and head coaches of the women’s national teams as well as international media representatives selected by Fifa will then cast votes to select the top three candidates.
The Top 3 with the most votes will be announced in a live show by Fifa and France Football on December 1.
The winner of the2014 Fifa World Coach of the Year for Women’s Football will be revealed at the FIFA Ballon d’Or as part of a televised show at the Zurich Kongresshaus on 12 January 2015.
