Toronto FC striker Bright Dike has been ruled out of coach Stephen Keshi’s squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup with a “leg injury”.
The Nigeria international ruptured his Achilles tendon during training session on Monday.
Dike, who was named in the squad for the March 5 friendly against Mexico, tweeted: “Worst day of my life.”

“It is such a shame that we have lost a player of his calibre for the friendly against Mexico and possibly the World Cup,” NFF’s spokesman Ademola Olajire told BBC Sport.
“Bright Dike is a top professional and very humble guy. It is a blow for him personally, and for both his club Toronto FC and Nigeria.”
The striker will return to Toronto on Tuesday for further evaluation by his club’s medical staff, Toronto FC said in a statement.
Dike scored his second international goal in November in the 2-2 friendly draw against Italy.
