Liverpool are reportedly keeping a close eye on Milton Keynes (MK) Dons midfielder Bamidele Alli.

The 17-year-old has been linked with a move to several top flight English clubs this season with Liverpool said to have disclosed keen interest.

The Reds’ boss Brendan Rodgers was in the stands at the DW Stadium on Saturday when MK Dons settled for a 3-3 draw with current FA Cup holders Wigan in the third-round of this year’s competition.

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson does not want to be drawn into the player’s transfer situation and a possible move to Anfield, but believes Bamidele, who played for over an hour before been substituted during Saturday’s draw, is a “special” player.

“I know Brendan quite well and we speak about different players all the time,” Robinson told the Mirror.

“There may have well been another reason why he was at the game, but you’ve seen Dele and he’s special.

“You don’t see many 17 year-olds playing in an FA Cup third-round tie against a very good Wigan side and not looking out of place.

“I am very proud of his development.”

Alli made his debut for the club at the age of 16 as a substitute in an FA Cup goalless draw against Cambridge in November 2012, coming on for Jay O’Shea. He opened his goalscoring account in the replay of that match, scoring in MK Dons’ 6-1 win.
