Hon. Ihedioha Restores World Boxing Champion Emenogu’s Confidence on the NASS Ahead of His Title Defence.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha on Wednesday assured Nigerian- born international middle- weight World Boxing Champion, King Davidson Emenogu, of the National Assembly’s support in his bid to defend the title in Abuja in July this year.

The Deputy Speaker restored the world champion’s confidence on the latter’s courtesy visit, where he presented his laurels so far, to his office at the National assembly.

The Deputy Speaker commended the boxer for his accomplishments pointing out that he is another patriotic and well meaning Nigerian, who has not only done the country proud but Africa at large.

Hon. Ihedioha disclosed that he should be rest assured of the backing of the House of Representatives in his bid to win more laurels for the country.

“You have conquered the world and made the country and Africa proud. This achievement is not a mean feat. You should be encouraged and celebrated to win more laurels.”

Emenogu hails from Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo state, which is part of the constituency represented by the Deputy Speaker. Hon. Ihedioha offered his brotherly advice to the world champion, to work hard to achieve a successful defence of his title.

In his remark, King Davidson Emenogu noted that he had won five international boxing belts, which includes: International Light Weight World Champion; Africa Light Middle Weight Champion; International Federation Champion; Australian Champion and Asian Boxing Association Champion.

He pleaded for government support to enable him defend the International Light Middle Weight World Champion fight billed for Abuja by the end of July.

In attendance at the meeting were the Deputy Speaker and other members of the House of Representatives, including Chairman, House Committee on Sports Hon. Godfrey Gaya.
