Beautiful Lace Gown Styles for Young Ladies

0

Lace gowns have long been a symbol of elegance, sophistication, and timeless beauty. For young ladies, lace gowns offer a perfect blend of youthful charm and refined grace, making them a go-to option for various occasions, from weddings to parties or formal events. The intricate patterns, delicate textures, and sheer finish of lace make these gowns not only beautiful but also versatile, fitting the preferences of young women who love to stand out with class.

One of the most popular lace gown styles for young ladies is the off-shoulder lace dress. This design adds a touch of femininity and allure while still maintaining modesty. An off-shoulder lace gown can be paired with a fitted bodice and a flowing skirt, creating a graceful silhouette that flatters the figure without being overly revealing. For added flair, young ladies can opt for gowns that feature lace inserts or lace panels strategically placed across the bodice or sleeves, giving the gown a modern twist.

Another stunning lace gown style is the A-line lace gown. This gown is universally flattering and works well for both formal and semi-formal occasions. With its fitted top that gradually flares out towards the bottom, the A-line lace gown offers comfort and movement while maintaining a polished look. The intricate lace detailing can be combined with satin or chiffon fabric for a luxurious finish that exudes elegance.

For those looking for a more contemporary style, the lace mermaid gown is an excellent choice. Fitted through the bodice and hips, this style then flares out at the knees, creating a dramatic and glamorous effect. Perfect for evening events or prom nights, the lace mermaid gown hugs the body and accentuates curves, making it ideal for young ladies who want to make a bold statement.

If you prefer a softer, more romantic look, the lace-overlay gown is a beautiful option. Featuring a sheer lace overlay over a satin or silk underlay, this gown style offers a dreamy and ethereal appearance. Lace detailing on the sleeves or neckline can enhance the gown’s charm, making it perfect for a garden party or an intimate gathering.

Lace gowns can also be customized with different colors and patterns, allowing young ladies to express their unique style. From soft pastels to bold, vibrant hues, a lace gown can be adapted to suit any personality or occasion. Additionally, lace can be paired with other fabric textures like tulle, chiffon, or satin for an added touch of luxury.

In conclusion, lace gowns are a timeless and elegant choice for young ladies. Whether you prefer a classic look or something more contemporary, lace gowns offer a beautiful way to make a lasting impression at any event.

Committee investigating vetting chaos to resume hearing today

0

The Parliamentary ad-hoc committee investigating the vetting chaos that transpired at the Appointments Committee will resume its public hearing today.

This comes after the abrupt suspension of proceedings during its public hearing on Wednesday at Parliament House, Accra.

Addressing the Parliamentary Press Corps on yesterday, Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, Chairman of the committee, said the Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Bagbin, had directed the committee to continue its work.

“The Speaker has given us a 10- day ultimatum to finish our work. We will resume at 10:00 hours (10 a.m.) at the Committee Room 1 and 2 in Parliament House to continue our work,” the chairman said.

The Committee’s hearing was initially suspended due to an alleged directive from the Clerk to Parliament, which was later clarified as not having been authorised by the Speaker.

Mr Bedzrah confirmed that the Speaker had now given the green light for the Committee to proceed with its investigation.

Confusion rocked Parliament’s Appointments Committee sitting on the night of last Thursday, when members of the Minority and Majority caucuses clashed over the vetting of Mr Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister of Health– designate and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, designated for Foreign Affairs.

The disagreement began after 11 p.m. when the vetting of the nominee for Transport, Mr Joseph Bukari Nikpe, had been concluded.

The Majority Caucus decided to vet two more ministerial nominees that night after having already vetted five others.

The Minority group on the Committee, however, proposed rescheduling the vetting to the next day, explaining “it is too late.”

The Majority rejected that suggestion, insisting that the vetting should continue as scheduled.

It accused the Minority Leader, Mr Alexander Afenyo Markin (Ranking Member on the Committee), of spending more time on nominees, hence the delay.

The situation escalated into chaos, disrupting the session as tables were broken and microphones destroyed in a tussle between some committee members.

In a reaction, the Majority Leader, Mr Mahama Ayariga, intervened and apologised for the unfortunate incident, and asked for the postponement of the vetting, to Friday.

The clash between the two caucuses brought the Committee’s work to a standstill, with both sides refusing to back down from their positions.

Earlier on Thursday morning, the two sides had reached an agreement to vet three nominees, but the Majority later attempted to push for additional nominees without proper consensus, hence the disruption in the vetting process.

Mr Bagbin in his formal communication to MPs on the Floor of the House on Friday, suspended four MPs involved in the clashes for two weeks.

The suspended MPs, including the Majority Chief Whip, Mr Rockson-Nelson Este Dafeamekpor, and the Minority Chief Whip, Mr Frank Annoh-Dompreh, were barred from participating in parliamentary sittings and activities during this period.

A seven-member committee, chaired by Mr Bedzrah, the NDC MP for Ho West, was established by the Speaker to investigate the incident. -GNA

GFA would be a great start to return Ghana sports to the top- President Mahama to Kofi Adams

0

President John Dramani Mahama has urged newly appointed Sports Minister Kofi Adams to prioritize the development of all sporting disciplines.

Speaking at the swearing in of Ministers at the Jubilee House, President Mahama emphasized the importance of rejuvenating Ghanaian sports, starting with football.

“I expect that you concentrate on building up all the sporting disciplines. I know the Ghana Football Association would be a good place to start to make sure that we return the Black Stars to their glory days,” President Mahama stated.

His remarks come at a time when Ghanaian football, particularly the national team, the Black Stars, has faced challenges in recent years. Many fans and analysts have called for comprehensive reforms to revive the team’s competitive edge on the global stage.

Kofi Adams, who recently assumed office, is expected to work closely with key stakeholders, including the Ghana Football Association (GFA), to implement policies that will strengthen grassroots development, improve infrastructure, and ensure proper management of sports in the country.

Gender isn’t just a women’s issue—men are part of the story too

0

There’s an unsettling trend in society’s discourse on gender: it’s often painted as a women-only issue. Gender inequality, gender discrimination, gender violence—these phrases have somehow become synonymous with women alone. But is it so? In a communication workshop recently, the facilitator shared an anecdote that brilliantly highlights this skewed perception. According to him, people are more likely to believe what they hear about gender issues when it’s being taught by a woman. Think about that for a second. The messenger—her gender—seemingly validates the message. Why? Because society has boxed gender as a women’s narrative, marginalizing men from the conversation altogether.

In a classroom full of inquisitive minds, this revelation hit hard. How many times have we unconsciously perpetuated this bias? Gender is a complex and fluid interplay of societal constructs, expectations, and lived experiences that affect everyone. Yet, when we slap it with a “women’s issue” label, we ignore half the population and the critical role men play in dismantling these constructs.

Gender issues affect men in ways we often overlook. Toxic masculinity, for instance, pressures men into unrealistic roles, forcing them to suppress emotions, take on harmful behaviors, and live up to a rigid ideal of “manliness.” Men can also be victims of gender-based violence, face discrimination in custody battles, and struggle with societal expectations that refuse to acknowledge their vulnerabilities.

By viewing gender through a singular lens, we miss the opportunity to address these challenges. Instead of creating a holistic conversation, we risk polarizing the discourse, making it harder for men to engage, empathize, or even care.

This imbalance was on full display when the Gender Minister recently made a controversial remark during her vetting. She announced that the proposed Women’s Bank, an initiative by the Mahama administration, would be staffed entirely by women. On the surface, this sounds empowering—a financial institution run by women, for women. But is this empowerment or exclusion?

One can argue that creating opportunities for women in finance is vital, given their historic underrepresentation. However, staffing the bank exclusively with women inadvertently sends a divisive message. It implies that gender empowerment is a zero-sum game: in order to uplift women, men must be excluded. In reality, gender equity should involve collaboration, not isolation.

Such policies, though well-intentioned, reinforce the misconception that gender progress is a one-sided battle. They alienate men who might otherwise support these initiatives and further entrench the idea that gender issues belong in a women-only domain.

To truly address gender inequality, we need a shift in mindset.

Gender is not synonymous with women. Men’s issues, struggles, and contributions must be part of the conversation.

The facilitator’s example of bias in teaching gender proves we need to challenge stereotypes early. Gender education should be taught as a human issue, regardless of the educator’s gender.

Initiatives like the Women’s Bank should prioritize inclusion. Imagine the powerful statement it would make to have women and men working together to achieve financial equity.

Both men and women need to confront internalized stereotypes that limit progress. Gender equity isn’t about blame; it’s about shared responsibility.

Attributing gender issues solely to women undermines the very essence of equity. It’s like trying to row a boat with one oar—you’ll go in circles but never make meaningful progress. The sooner we recognize that gender issues affect everyone, the faster we can dismantle the structures that uphold inequality.

So, let’s stop assigning ownership of gender to one group. Let’s widen the scope, broaden the narrative, and build a society where both men and women actively shape the conversation. After all, gender isn’t a one-way street—it’s a journey we all take together.

‘Ghana sports is in shambles’ – Mahama

0

President John Dramani Mahama has painted a grim picture of Ghana’s sporting sector, describing it as being in “shambles” and calling for an urgent turnaround under the leadership of new Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams.

Speaking at Adams’ swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House on Friday, February 7, 2025, Mahama expressed deep dissatisfaction with the current state of sports in Ghana.

“The shambles that Ghana’s sports have become today are completely unacceptable for a country with our pedigree.”

His words reflect a harsh reality—Ghana’s sporting infrastructure is deteriorating, funding remains inadequate, and governance issues continue to cripple progress.

Once a force to be reckoned with in football, boxing, and athletics, the country’s performances have plummeted, leaving fans and stakeholders frustrated.

Mahama’s comments serve as an indictment of past administrations and a wake-up call for urgent reforms. He tasked Kofi Adams with implementing transparency, professionalism, and modernity in the management of sports.

“I expect that you inject transparency, professionalism, and modernity into the management of the sector.”

Football, as expected, was a focal point, with the President stressing the need for reforms within the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to revive the Black Stars’ lost glory.

“I expect that you concentrate on building up all the sporting disciplines. I know the Ghana Football Association would be a good place to start to make sure that we return the Black Stars to their glory days.”

For Kofi Adams, the challenge is monumental—from restructuring the GFA to ensuring lesser-known sports receive the attention they deserve.

Consult ‘experienced’ Mahama Ayariga on sporting issues – Sannie Daara to Kofi Adams

0

Former GFA Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara Former GFA Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara

Former Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Sannie Daara has advised Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams to seek guidance from Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, on sporting issues.

He stated that Ayariga’s brief stint as sports minister has equipped him with the necessary knowledge and experience to tackle challenges in football and other disciplines.

The former GFA spokesperson highlighted Ayariga’s contribution to the team’s performance in the 2015 AFCON, where they reached the finals.

“I urge Kofi Adams to consult Mahama Ayariga, who has experience working as sports minister. After the scandal in Brazil, Ayariga worked closely with the GFA and other ministries to secure funding for the Black Stars.

“He was also with the team during the AFCON qualifiers and the 2015 AFCON finals. These are the people Kofi Adams should consult, and I believe he will succeed if he does,” he said during an interview with Sporty FM.

Sannie Daara also cautioned Kofi Adams to be mindful of his public comments to avoid implicating himself on critical issues.

“Kofi Adams must be careful with his words to avoid trouble. He should consult properly before speaking,” he added.

Kofi Adams was recently approved as the Minister of Sports and Recreation by the parliamentary Appointments Committee after a successful vetting.

‘I inject my face with donor fat to stay young

0

Everyone wants to reverse signs of ageing – but one woman goes to extreme lengths to prevent herself from getting old and injects herself with healthy donor fat.

Marcela Iglesias is no stranger to having a controversial procedure and has been labelled as a “human Barbie” after undergoing extreme beauty treatments to ensure she never looks old.

The 47-year-old previously told how she was planning on having a blood transfusion from her own son, Rodrigo, 23, in an effort to stay young and has now forked out a whopping £9,000 to have someone else’s fat injected into her face and body. Something she said is the “future” of the beauty industry.

Marcela revealed her plans to have a blood transfusion from her 23-year-old son, Rodrigo

Marcela at the age of 16.
Marcela before her £89,000 worth of cosmetic procedures

The strange treatment, known as Renuva, is derived from donor tissue, and is stripped down so it only contains occurring proteins, collagen and growth factors and is injected into the beauty buff. “I’m really excited about this new treatment because it is the most natural way to restore your own fat,” she explained, and added: “It has made me look more youthful and plump.”

Marcela said people are “tired” of fillers because they know “it’s just filler” and it “doesn’t restore” anything. The cosmetic lover has already spent over £89,000 on treatments over the years, and has been injecting her face, hands and legs with the substance to add volume to her skin.

And the social media star couldn’t be happier with her results. Marcela, who is originally from Buenos Aires, said: “I have done two treatments on my legs, one on my temple and one on my hands. It is amazing how I can see my own body reacting to it.

“It has truly been a game-changer for me, as I can look like myself again without going under the knife or adding fillers. The procedure doesn’t require any recovery time and you’ll see the results right away – it’s like magic in an hour.”

However it doesn’t come cheap, and the fat costs around £840 per 1.5ml and depending on where the fat is injected, 3ml is typically administered per session. But for business owner Marcela, she revealed she spends £780 a month on IVs, wellness injections, vitamins and creams.

Marcela also makes sure she keeps to a strict diet and daily routine in order to keep up with her youthful appearance, and it seems to be paying off as she said people are “shocked” to learn that she has a son in his early 20s.

“People say I am far too young to be a mum. They constantly ask me what I do to stay looking so young. It feels great that people recognise the work that I have put in,” she added.

Eni’s CEO pays courtesy call on Mahama

0

Mr. Claudio Descalzi, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eni, an Italian multinational energy company, paid a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama in Accra.

A statement issued by Eni and copied to the Ghana News Agency stated that the two discussed oil production activities in the country.

Mr. Descalzi highlighted the achievements of the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) project, the largest investment made by a private company in Ghana. The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, with the first oil in 2017 and the first gas in 2018.

The statement noted that gas from OCTP is entirely allocated for Ghana’s domestic consumption, ensuring a safe and reliable energy source to meet internal needs, contributing approximately 70 per cent of the country’s domestic gas production.

Additionally, Eni had presented to the President some new short- and medium-term exploration and development opportunities.

The meeting also served as an opportunity to discuss Eni’s plans for economic diversification in Ghana.

Eni has been operating in Ghana since 2009. The company is the operator of the OCTP project with a 44.40 per cent share, in partnership with Vitol (35.60 per cent) and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (20 per cent).

Its portfolio also includes initiatives in training, economic diversification, access to water and sanitation, and energy access.

Youth Climate Council Ghana opposes proposal to use carbon market revenues for MPs’ pension scheme

0

The Youth Climate Council Ghana (YCC) has expressed deep concern and strong opposition to a recent proposal by parliament to establish a pension fund scheme for Members of Parliament (MPs) using revenues from the carbon market.

This proposal, according to the YCC, directly undermines Ghana’s climate commitments and constitutes a blatant misuse of key climate finance intended for national sustainability efforts.

In a statement, the council said the Paris Agreement, under Article 6, explicitly provides the framework for carbon markets, with a clear objective of advancing climate action and sustainable development.

“Diverting these funds away from their intended purpose would not only violate international commitments but also weaken Ghana’s ability to meet its emissions reduction targets”.

Youth Climate Action noted Ghana aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 64,000 ktCO2e by 2030, with a significant portion of this reduction relying on carbon market mechanisms and international financial support.

It said the country requires between US$ 9.3 and US$ 15.5 billion of investment to implement its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) from 2020 to 2030.

YCC emphasized that carbon credit revenues must be strictly allocated to greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation initiatives, such as renewable energy expansion, reforestation, climate-smart agriculture, and waste management.

The organization urged Parliament to immediately revoke the proposal and ensure that all carbon credit revenues are directed toward fulfilling the key commitments of the carbon market framework.

“Instead, the YCC proposes that Parliament explores more innovative and sustainable revenue sources, such as reviewing current mining leases to increase Ghana’s revenue share, with even 1% dedicated to funding the MPs’ pension scheme”.

The organization called on civil society organizations, climate activists, and the general public to reject the proposal and demand greater accountability in climate finance governance.

Antoine Semenyo credits Henry and Drogba for his football development

0

Antoine Semenyo, forward for Bournemouth Antoine Semenyo, forward for Bournemouth

Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo has credited his football idols for playing a significant role in shaping his career.

According to the former Bristol City man, he drew inspiration from Chelsea legend Didier Drogba and Arsenal icon Thierry Henry, studying their games to refine his own skills.

Now, Semenyo is reaping the rewards, having made a significant impact for Bournemouth in the Premier League this season, contributing to 10 league goals.

Since making the switch from Bristol City to Bournemouth in a €10.3 million deal in January 2023, Semenyo has been a driving force behind the Cherries’ resurgence.

His scintillating form this season has caught the attention of top-tier clubs, with several European heavyweights reportedly lining up a move for the in-demand 25-year-old Ghanaian forward.

Reflecting on his development, Semenyo acknowledged that a spell on the sidelines due to injury allowed him to study Premier League legends Thierry Henry and Didier Drogba, which helped elevate his game.

“One of the assistant coaches at Bristol at the time suggested I watch a lot of clips of my idols,” Semenyo told Premier League TV.

“He recommended [Breel] Embolo from Monaco, saying our play styles were very similar.”

“I watched him, Henry, and Drogba for inspiration, focusing on their movement, heading, and footwork. I was out for three to four months, so I used that time wisely to watch them and included them in mine” he added.

Semenyo has already scored seven goals in 23 Premier League appearances in the 2024/2025 season, just one shy of his best-ever league tally—eight goals, which he achieved in both the 2023/2024 season with Bournemouth and the 2021/2022 campaign with Bristol City.

AG Drops Ernest Thompson, Collins Dauda Trials

0

Collins Dauda

In another significant development since assuming office, the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has discontinued the prosecution of former Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing, Alhaji Collins Dauda.

The Asutifi Member of Parliament together with three other persons were standing trial for wilfully causing financial loss to the state in the $200 million Saglemi Housing project scandal.

The Office has also discontinued the trial of former Director-General of Social Security and National Trust Fund (SSNIT), Ernest Thompson, who was accused of causing over $14.8 million financial loss to the state in the Operational Business Suite (OBS) project.

The new Attorney General since taking office has discontinued the trial of former appointees of previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) appointees who were standing trial for various alleged offences, chief among them, the charge of causing financial loss to the state.

A High Court in Accra last Tuesday gave the new Attorney General, three weeks to decide whether or not his office intends to continue with the prosecution of Alhaji Collins Dauda. And the three others.

This was after Hilda Craig, a Chief State Attorney told the court that “the instruction from my superior is that I should appeal to the court for a short adjournment to put our house in order. If the court is minded to give us two weeks to report appropriately to the court.”

Three days later, the Office has entered a Nolle Prosequi and has filed a document which indicates that “the state intends that the proceedings against accused Persons Alhaji Collins Dauda, Kweku Agyeman-Mensah, Alhaji Ziblim Yakubu, Andrew Clocanas (Deceased) and Nouvi Tetteh ANGELO in the above-mentioned case shall not continue.”

Per Section 54 of Act 30, “In a criminal case, and at any stage of a criminal case before verdict or judgment, and in the case of preliminary proceedings before the District Court, whether the accused has or has not been committed for trial, the Attorney-General may enter a nolle prosequi, by stating in Court or by informing the Court in writing that the Republic does not intend to continue the proceedings.

By this, all the accused persons would be discharged by the trial court but leaves room for another Attorney General to charge the four again should there be a change in government.

This is in line with section 54(3) of Act 30 which states that “the discharge of the accused shall not operate as a bar to subsequent proceedings against the accused in respect of the same case.”

*Ernest Thompson*
In the case of Ernest Thompson, the Attorney General decided to withdraw the charges against three out of the four standing trial, leaving out Caleb Afaglo, a one-time General Manager of Management Information Systems at SSNIT who has been accused of forging his academic certificate.

It is not clear why the Attorney General chose to single him out of the withdrawal but the decision mean means Mr. Thompson; Peter Hayibor, then General Counsel of SSNIT as well as John Hagan Mensah, Information Technology Infrastructure Manager of SSNIT would be acquitted, and discharged since the prosecution had already closed its case.

Government to revamp GIHOC distilleries for job creation, export

0

By Francis Ntow

Accra, Feb 7, GNA – The Government has disclosed plans to revamp GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited to increase its operational capacity, while creating employment opportunities in support of the 24-hour economy initiative.

Madam Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, made this disclosure during a working visit to the company on Friday, indicating the government’s readiness to support the company.

The visit was to assess the state of the company and explore ways to ensure that it becomes more productive, create jobs for Ghanaians, and export to contribute to foreign exchange earnings to tame inflation.

The manufacturer of alcoholic beverages was established in 1958 as a wholly-state owned entity. It is currently saddled with some GHS‎300-million debt and old machinery, despite having adequate human resources to run its operations.

“The good thing about GIHOC is that they have quality products that are respected within and out of the country. So, once we know the health, whatever it takes – financing, machinery, [and] labour, we will be able to do all of that because we hope to use GIHOC to employ a lot of people,” the Minister said.

“In order for them to take advantage of the 24-hour economy and run three shifts, and more importantly, also take advantage of the international trade agreements we have like AfCFTA, UK and EU markets, we should be able to retool the place.”

Madam Ofosu-Adjare promised to use the Ministry to support the promotion of various products of the company, particularly on the international market, while ensuring availability of raw materials.

Mr Jones Borteye Applerh, the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GIHOC Distilleries, said with the quality of human resources available, revamping the company would enable it to help in transforming the economy.

The time had come to rethink and review systems and processes at the company to ensure its products became the choicest across the market, while supporting the reset agenda and the 24-hour economy initiative, he said.

Mr Applerh enumerated some factors that inhibited the company’s full capacity operation; including the use of installed machinery in 1964, inability to service its debts, and lack of marketing.

He expressed the willingness of Management to work collaboratively with the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry for a retool, and make it attractive to investors.

He expressed confidence that when GIHOC was well resourced it would increase its export for higher foreign exchange to help reduce inflationary pressures.

German Chancellor slams US sanctions on ICC: Says it’s ‘wrong thing to do’

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has criticized new sanctions imposed by US President Donald Trump on the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.

“I don’t think it’s right to impose sanctions on the International Criminal Court,” Scholz said on Friday between election campaign events in the south-western German city of Ludwigsburg.

It is perfectly fine to get angry and argue about things – “but sanctions are the wrong thing to do,” said Scholz. “They jeopardize an institution that is supposed to ensure that the dictators of this world cannot simply persecute people and start wars.”

Trump justified Thursday’s punitive measures by claiming that the court “abused its power” by issuing arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israeli defence minister Yoav Gallant.

Last year, the court issued international arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant as well as senior leaders of the Palestinian militant group Hamas for alleged war crimes in Gaza.

The United States and Israel do not recognize the court.

Mohammed Kudus is a midfielder for West Ham Mohammed Kudus is a midfielder for West Ham

West Ham midfielder, Mohammed Kudus, who dominated take-on statistics last season, is noticeably absent from the top rankings of Europe’s most successful dribblers this term.

The 24-year-old made history in the 2023/24 season as the first player in Europe’s top five leagues to complete over 100 dribbles, establishing himself as one of Africa’s most exciting young talents.

However, Kudus has struggled in his second season, enduring a difficult 2024/25 campaign. The Ghanaian has managed just three goals in 19 Premier League appearances, falling short of last season’s impressive form.

His struggles have also impacted his dribbling numbers, causing him to miss out on the rankings for players with the highest take-on success rates in Europe’s top five leagues.

Bayern Munich’s Michael Olise has taken the top spot, boasting the best dribble success rate among players who have attempted 50 or more take-ons this season.

Olise has completed 41 of his 68 attempted take-ons, recording a success rate of 60.29%.

Algerian and Wolves full-back, Rayan Aït-Nouri, ranks second, completing 60% of his 60 attempted dribbles, while Rayo Vallecano defender, Andrei Rațiu, sits third with a 58.2% success rate from 67 take-ons.

Sevilla’s Chidera Ejuke follows in fourth place with a 58% success rate from 62 dribbles, while Manchester City’s Jérémy Doku rounds up the top five, completing 57% of his 72 attempted take-ons.

President John Dramani Mahama has announced a ban on non-essential travel for government appointees, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to modesty and prudent resource management.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of 17 ministers, President Mahama stressed the need for fiscal discipline and cautioned against arrogance and extravagance.

“The hallmark of this government will be modesty and respect for the Ghanaian people. There will be no room for arrogance and pomposity in this government. The resources that you will be working with belong to the Ghanaian people who put us in office. Those resources are not to be wasted on opulence and extravagance,” he stated.

To curb unnecessary spending, the President directed the Chief of Staff to formally communicate the ban to all appointees.

“I have asked the Chief of Staff to write to all government appointees that I have imposed a ban on non-essential travels forthwith to cut down expenditure. Any travel that is deemed essential and necessary must be cleared first with the Chief of Staff, and such travels will have to be undertaken with modesty—no first class,” he declared.

President Mahama further urged appointees to avoid displays of affluence and embrace modesty, aligning with the administration’s focus on fiscal responsibility.

This measure forms part of the government’s broader strategy to ensure responsible use of public resources in the best interest of the Ghanaian people.

John Mahama charges Kofi Adams to ‘restore’ Ghana’s sporting pride

0

President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has tasked the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to make sure the country regains its sporting pride.

His comments come after the swearing-in of Kofi Adams and a host of others on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the Jubilee House following approval by Parliament after a thorough vetting process and extensive debates by the Appointments Committee.

Ghana has lost its place on the continent as well as the world as far as sports is concerned and seems to be sinking further.

The recent downhill was the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to be staged in Morocco. This follows back-to-back group stage exits in the last two editions.

“The Honourable Kofi Adams, Minister for Sports and Recreation, I don’t envy your job,” Mahama said.

“You have the monumental task of restoring Ghana to its pride of place in African and world sports.”

Adams takes over from Mustapha Ussif, who served as the Sports Minister under the previous government.

Mahama urges Kofi Adams to begin sports reforms with GFA

0

President John Mahama has tasked newly appointed Sports Minister Kofi Adams to begin his efforts to revive Ghana’s struggling sports sector with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), emphasising the urgent need to restore the Black Stars to their former glory.

Speaking at Adams’ swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House in Accra on Friday, Mahama did not mince words about the current state of Ghanaian football. With the Black Stars failing to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in two decades, the president made it clear that a major transformation was needed, starting with the GFA.

“The Honourable Kofi Iddie Adams, Minister for Sports and Recreation, I don’t envy your job,” Mahama said. “You have the monumental task of restoring Ghana to its pride of place in African and world sports. The shambles that is Ghana sports today is completely unacceptable. And I know the Ghana Football Association would be a good place to start.”

GFA has been tasked to adopt transparency, professionalism, and modern management practices to rebuild the Black Stars. Ghana’s football governing body has faced criticism over poor planning, administrative lapses, and lack of accountability, all of which have contributed to the national team’s struggles.

The Black Stars, once dominant in African football, have endured a series of setbacks, including early exits from recent AFCON tournaments and a decline in their global reputation.

Mahama believes that Adams must work closely with the GFA to restructure the sport, focusing on grassroots development, better player management, and long-term planning.

Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwa Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwa

The Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwa, has dismissed rumors concerning his interest in a government position.

He clearly stated that he has not lobbied for any position and would reject any such offer if presented with it.

“I have no interest in working in government. I have not called anyone to lobby on my behalf. If you call me for any position, I will decline it openly and publicly,” he said this in a video shared on X by GHOne TV on February 7, 2025.

Addressing questions on his refusal to serve his country, Dankwa defended his contributions, stating that his efforts in the private sector have had a tangible impact.

“Who says I’m not serving this country? In my private capacity, if I tell you what I have done, many people in positions have not done that in their lives. And it was a service to this country,” he said.

He further emphasised his role in national development, explaining what his collaborations with private companies, many of which partner with the government, have led to.

“I do work with private companies who partner government to do projects that bring real change to people’s lives. That’s where I’m serving,” he noted.
