Mixed Reactions As Pres. Mahama Appoints Actress Kafui Danku As Head Of National Film Authority

0

In post sighted by UTV , Ghana’s entertainment industry is buzzing with mixed reactions following the appointment of popular actress and producer Kafui Danku as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Secretary of the Ghana National Film Authority (NFA).

This announcement, made on Friday, February 28, 2025, has sparked widespread discussions among industry players and the general public.

With this appointment, Kafui Danku takes over from fellow actress Juliet Asante, who previously led the NFA.

Her new role is expected to bring fresh energy to the film industry, given her vast experience in acting and movie production.

Interestingly, her appointment came just a day after actor James Gardiner was also named as the Deputy Executive Secretary of the Authority on Thursday, February 27.

Kafui Danku is well-known in Ghana’s movie industry for her roles in hit films such as “Any Other Monday”, Alvina: Thunder and Lightning, I Do, and 4Play.

Beyond acting, she is an accomplished producer who has contributed significantly to Ghanaian cinema through her production company, Danku Productions. She is also the author of the book Silence Is Not Golden, which sheds light on personal struggles and societal issues.

Her work as a producer has played a vital role in raising the standard of Ghanaian films and promoting them on the international stage. Many believe her leadership at the NFA could bring much-needed reforms to the industry.

However, her appointment has sparked a mix of praise and skepticism. Some industry players and fans are excited about the decision, seeing it as a step in the right direction.

One supporter commented, “Kafui Danku has done so much for the movie industry. She understands the challenges and will work hard to make things better. This is a great choice!”

Screenshots of some reactions from Netizens On the other hand, some critics question whether an actress-turned-producer is the best fit for such a major leadership role. A skeptical social media user wrote, “Is this about qualifications or popularity? The film industry needs serious leadership, not just big names.”

As the debate continues, all eyes are on Kafui Danku to see how she will handle her new responsibilities. Her success in this role will depend on how well she navigates the challenges of the film industry and implements policies to support Ghanaian filmmakers.

Ghana’s legal system too outdated to fight corruption

0

The Chairman of the Constitutional Review Committee, Professor Henry Kwasi Prempeh, has criticized Ghana’s outdated legal framework, arguing that it is insufficient to effectively combat modern-day corruption.

Speaking as a reviewer at the 5th Constitution Day Public Lecture, delivered by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng under the theme “A Few Good Men: Suppressing and Repressing Corruption and State Capture in Aid of Development,” Prof. Prempeh underscored the urgent need for legal reforms to strengthen anti-corruption efforts.

While acknowledging that the current constitution provides some tools for fighting corruption, he pointed out that Ghana’s legal institutions and doctrines are outdated, making it difficult to address corruption’s evolving nature.

“There are some tools in the constitution even as we find it today. The constitution is not perfect, but it does have something in there that can be the basis of a credible fight against corruption,” he stated.

However, he stressed the need for legal innovation, citing the inadequacy of decades-old laws in tackling corruption today.

“I think our legal institutions, including our legal doctrines, are way too archaic for the time. We must embrace a lot of legal innovation because corruption mutates day by day. In developed countries, the laws are changing from time to time to tackle corruption, and we are relying on 1962 laws to fight. It is not fit for purpose,” he added.

Prof. Prempeh’s remarks highlight the pressing need for legislative updates to ensure that Ghana’s legal framework keeps pace with the evolving nature of corruption and governance challenges.

Press Release on the State of the Nation address delivered by the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama

0

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) wishes to express its gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for his passion for the Black Stars and Ghana Football, a passion shared by millions of Ghanaians.

We acknowledge the President’s observation, during his presentation of the State of the Nation address, that the Black Stars’ failure to qualify for the AFCON is not reflective of the country’s football talent. Indeed, it is some comfort that Ghana sits at joint top of our World Cup qualifying group at the moment.

It is for this reason that the Executive Council has taken some steps to strengthen the Management and Technical team of the Stars. We expect these interventions to reflect in our upcoming World Cup qualifiers in the month of March and also further on in the year.

We also endorse His Excellency’s call for transparency in relation to the budgeting and expenditure related to the Black Stars and, by extension, all national teams.

Indeed, as part of our commitment to transparency, the GFA has always provided the Ministry responsible for Sports with the first draft budget for the national teams. Beyond this, everything to do with the budgeting and expenditure related to the Black Stars sits with the Ministry. For emphasis,  payments made in relation to the Black Stars are exclusively handled by the Ministry.

We support the President’s call for the Ministry to deal transparently with the public regarding these matters and will willingly support the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to achieve this goal.

We are energized by the President’s passion and look forward to working with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to actualize the dreams and aspirations of all Ghanaians.

Ouattara Blames Hearts Of Oak Attack For FA Cup Exit

0

Aboubakar Ouattara

Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has attributed the team’s unexpected exit from the MTN FA Cup to their misfiring attack.

The head coach expressed frustration over his side’s inability to convert clear-cut opportunities, which ultimately led to a 4-3 defeat in a penalty shootout against lower-tier club Golden Kicks.

“We squandered many chances. Our attacking machinery was weak,” he admitted.

Despite dominating possession throughout the match, Hearts of Oak failed to break the deadlock, forcing the game into a penalty shootout where they fell short.

With their FA Cup campaign now over, the Phobians will turn their attention to the Ghana Premier League, which resumes on March 7.

Frontline for Climate Action enhances advocacy and resource mobilisation capabilities through WACSI training

0

In a significant move to strengthen climate resilience efforts, Frontline for Climate Action actively participated in a four-day Advocacy and Resource Mobilisation Training for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) in Ghana.

The initiative, part of the Response and Resilience Strengthening Programme, was hosted by WACSI and supported by the Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF).

The event aimed to equip CSOs with essential skills for impactful climate advocacy and securing resources for sustainable environmental action and social change.

Frontline for Climate Action was represented by Mr. Peter Martin, Communications Officer, and Mr. Solomon Djangmah, Programs Officer, who engaged with key stakeholders and fellow CSOs in discussions on innovative strategies for resource mobilisation and climate change and biodiversity conservation advocacy.

Building resilience through strategic advocacy

The training highlighted the urgent need for grassroots organisations to enhance their advocacy capacity, especially in the face of increasing climate challenges and a constantly evolving donor landscape.

Participants were introduced to effective advocacy strategies, stakeholder engagement techniques, and fundraising mechanisms vital for driving long-term impact.

Mr. Peter Martin stressed the importance of strategic storytelling and public engagement in shaping policy and mobilising support for climate resilience initiatives.

He explained how effective communication can amplify grassroots voices, ensuring that climate concerns are addressed at the grassroots, national, and international levels.

Similarly, Mr. Solomon Djangmah shared insights on programme implementation and donor engagement, emphasising the need for collaborative partnerships to sustain community-driven climate initiatives. He underscored that securing financial and technical support is crucial for scaling up interventions aimed at environmental conservation and resilience building.

Empowering CSOs for sustainable climate action

The workshop provided an interactive platform for CSOs to exchange ideas, best practices, and success stories from their climate resilience projects.

Through various sessions, participants gained practical knowledge on proposal writing, donor engagement strategies, and policy advocacy—vital tools in strengthening the climate action ecosystem in Ghana.

The training also encouraged multi-sector collaboration, urging CSOs to work alongside government agencies, private sector players, and international donors to ensure sustainable financing for climate-related projects.

A call for continued action and support

As climate change continues to threaten vulnerable communities in Ghana, initiatives like this remain crucial. WACSI reaffirms its commitment to supporting CSOs in advocating for climate justice, building resilience, and mobilising resources effectively.

By leveraging the skills and knowledge gained from this training, Ghanaian CSOs are now better equipped to influence policy, secure robust funding, and drive impactful climate solutions at both grassroots and national levels.

The successful completion of the training marks another milestone in strengthening climate advocacy in Ghana. However, the journey toward climate resilience requires continuous engagement, collaboration, and sustainable investment in CSO capacity-building.

Frontline for Climate Action calls on stakeholders—including government, the private sector, and development partners—to support local CSOs in their fight against climate change, ensuring a more sustainable and climate-resilient future for Ghana.

New developments surrounding the death of a final-year biological science student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have emerged, with the university authorities providing more details on the incident.

In the latest update, the management of KNUST confirmed that a laptop and mobile device belonging to the deceased student, Joana Deladem Yabani, have been retrieved, adding that the items were found hidden behind one of the school’s hostel.

This followed a search conducted by the Ghana Police Service in collaboration with the university’s security services as part of their ongoing investigation.

“The Police and the University Security Services have successfully retrieved the laptop and mobile phone belonging to Joana Deladem Yabani. These items were discovered hidden behind the Flint Hostel: a location identified through CCTV footage from the hostel’s security surveillance system,” a statement released by the school on Friday, February 28, 2025, disclosed.

The statement further stated that the police have secured crucial evidence to aid in their investigations, and that the suspect, also a final-year student of KNUST, has been taken to court.

The school management also gave assurances of their dedication, willingness, and commitment to working closely with the police to uncover the truth behind the tragic death of the late Joana.

“Investigators have secured crucial evidence to aid in the prosecution process. Following the retrieval of these belongings, the suspect in custody was arraigned before the Circuit Court at Asafo today. The court has remanded the suspect into custody, with the next hearing scheduled for 17th March 2025. The Ghana Police Service and authorities in KNUST will continue to work diligently to ensure justice is served,” the statement continued.

It added, “The management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) remains committed to cooperating with the authorities and supporting the ongoing investigations. We extend our gratitude to the security personnel and law enforcement agencies for their swift action in handling the case.”

The management has urged students to remain calm and refrain from making decisions that could undermine or hinder the progress of the investigations.

“We urge students, staff, and the public to remain calm and allow the legal process to take its course. The University continues to prioritize the safety and security of its students and is taking further steps to enhance surveillance measures within and around campus. Our thoughts remain with the family, friends, and loved ones of Joana Deladem Yabani during this difficult time,” it concluded.

The latest update follows the apprehension of Daniel Tuffuor, as the main suspect in the gruesome murder of the late Joana, who has been taken into custody by the regional police for interrogation.

Ato Forson’s appointment as finance minister right; he’s always been ahead of me

Isaac Adongo has been appointed as a member on the BoG board Isaac Adongo has been appointed as a member on the BoG board

Bolgatanga Central Member of Parliament, Isaac Adongo, has defended the appointment of Dr Cassiel Ato Forson as Finance Minister, stating that Forson has always been ahead of him in parliamentary finance roles.

His comments come in response to concerns from some of his constituents, who believe he was overlooked for a ministerial position by President John Dramani Mahama.

Some supporters have even argued that Adongo should have been made finance minister instead of Dr Ato Forson.

Adongo acknowledged Dr Ato Forson’s seniority and experience in financial matters within Parliament.

“In the issue of finance minister proper, since I came to Parliament, I’ve always been behind Ato Forson,” he stated.

He explained that when he first entered Parliament, Dr Ato Forson was already the Ranking Member on the Finance Committee while he was only a member.

“In my second term, they promoted me to be Deputy Ranking, and he was still the Ranking Member. Then, when there was a reshuffle in Parliament, he was made the Leader of the Caucus, and I was made the Ranking Member of the Finance Committee,” he added.

Adongo further emphasised Forson’s previous experience as a Deputy Minister of Finance, which he said made him a strong candidate for the ministerial role.

“He has also been a Deputy Minister of Finance before. So it was really a tall ask,” he admitted. By acknowledging Forson’s qualifications, Adongo suggested that his appointment was a logical decision based on experience and seniority.

He, therefore, urged his constituents to remain patient and allow the political process to unfold in due course.

“My time will come,” he assured them, emphasising that he remains committed to serving both his constituency and the country.

Adongo’s remarks were aimed at calming tensions and reinforcing the importance of structured political progression in governance.

He spoke in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen on Thursday, February 27.

Existing laws weakened to serve a few – Special Prosecutor cautions

0

Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng has cautioned that Ghana’s state institutions are being increasingly manipulated for private interests, threatening the rule of law and public decision-making.

Speaking at the Constitution Day Public Lecture under the theme “A Few Good Men: Suppressing and Repressing Corruption and State Capture in Aid of Development,” Agyebeng expressed concern over the growing efforts by individuals to dominate state institutions for personal control.

“There is a sprint for the indefinite control of state institutions and the public decision-making process. State institutions are being neutralized as appendages of individuals, and the existing laws and the legal system are being weakened for private gains,” he stated.

He further condemned the practice of corrupt individuals transferring their illicit wealth to foreign jurisdictions to evade scrutiny and asset recovery.

“To further sink ourselves in ill progress, we are fleeing away and secreting our gargued-up bounties to other jurisdictions to avoid detection and to evade recovery,” Agyebeng added.

His remarks serve as a call to action against corruption and the erosion of state integrity, urging collective efforts to safeguard national resources and institutions.

Mahama only repeated campaign promises – Bekwai MP

0

MP for Bekwai, Ralph Poku-Adusei MP for Bekwai, Ralph Poku-Adusei

Member of Parliament for Bekwai, Ralph Poku-Adusei, is not impressed with President Mahama’s maiden State of the Nation Address.

According to the MP, the president, in his address, only regurgitated promises he made on campaign platforms ahead of the 2024 general elections.

President John Dramani Mahama yesterday delivered his maiden State of the Nation Address, in which he accused the Nana Addo administration of leaving behind an economic mess.

The president painted a picture of a challenged economy on all fronts but assured the nation that he would fix it before leaving office, just as he did with the energy sector crisis during his first term.

However, speaking to Parliamentary Correspondent Ibrahim Alhassan, Ralph Poku-Adusei argued that the delivery did not meet his expectations. According to the private legal practitioner, the President failed to touch on other critical issues, such as the deportation of some Ghanaians from the United States and the directive for the dismissal of persons employed after the December 7 elections.

“The SONA didn’t meet my expectations at all. It was more of a repetition of campaign promises, and I don’t think that’s what Ghanaians want to hear at this stage,” he said.

Mr. Poku-Adusei accused the President of using the address to condemn his predecessor rather than uniting the country as he discharges his mandate.

“You don’t use SONA to do propaganda. You don’t use SONA to condemn the previous government. You need to give the country some assurance that we should have faith in you, that we should have confidence in you to deliver on the mandate we’ve given you,” he stated.

The Bekwai MP acknowledged the economic turbulence under the Nana Addo administration due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine war.

According to him, despite these challenges, the economy grew by over 6% in 2024, a fact he believes the President should have acknowledged in his address.

Mr. Poku-Adusei also wished President Mahama had recognized the peaceful country he inherited.

Parliament is expected to commence debate on the President’s State of the Nation Address next week, with the majority requesting more speaking slots due to their larger number of MPs.

However, this proposal has been rejected by the minority, arguing that it sets a bad precedent.

Ghanaians not ready to fight corruption – Kissi Agyebeng

0

Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng has raised concerns about Ghana’s collective commitment to fighting corruption, stating that public attitudes and resistance toward anti-corruption efforts suggest the nation is not truly ready for the battle.

Speaking at the Constitution Day Public Lecture under the theme “A Few Good Men: Suppressing and Repressing Corruption and State Capture in Aid of Development,” Agyebeng highlighted the contradictions in the public response to corruption enforcement.

He lamented that while Ghanaians broadly acknowledge the need to combat corruption, some factions actively seek to undermine the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and its mandate.

“There have been attempts to discredit the principles of the office and its officers, unjustly attended by formidable resistance and push back. Often the attacks on the office and its principals are done by persons who are at the short end of investigation or prosecution, and the associates of such persons.

“The effect of the existential challenge confronting the OSP is that though the nation collectively acknowledges that we must fight corruption, yet there is also a section that the flagship agency designed, even if imperfectly, to fight corruption, is not needed and should be disbanded while others actively undermine it and its principal officers,” he stated.

Agyebeng described this contradiction as a “curious cycle,” where the public protests both when the OSP takes action and when it is perceived as inactive.

“This has translated into a rather curious cycle; there is an outcry when the OSP acts and an outcry when it is seen as not acting. It is as if we do not know what we want. The situation in Ghana now appears to be like ‘we must fight corruption but we must not fight corruption, that is our state now,” Kissi Agyeben added.

Ghana’s Auditor General Faces Backlash as Financial Losses Top GH¢10.2 Billion Amid Anti-Corruption Reversal

0

Auditor General Of Ghana

A staggering GH¢10.2 billion in public funds has been lost through financial irregularities since 2019, according to Auditor General reports, reigniting scrutiny over the office’s retreat from aggressive anti-corruption measures once championed by former Auditor General Daniel Yao Domelevo.

The revelations have sparked outrage among civil society groups and raised questions about political interference in Ghana’s accountability institutions.

Domelevo, ousted controversially in 2020 by President Nana Akufo-Addo’s government, had pioneered groundbreaking reforms during his tenure, including surcharges, disallowances, and an electronic audit system. These tools recovered GH¢4.6 million in misused funds and earned him praise as a rare anti-graft crusader. His removal, however, marked a turning point: successor Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu has since abandoned the surcharge regime, despite a binding Supreme Court order mandating its use.

A Controversial Exit, A Costly Silence

Domelevo’s 2020 dismissal followed contentious claims about his age and nationality—allegations widely viewed as politically motivated. Critics accused the government of sidelining an official who had targeted high-profile figures, including then-Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Maafo, whom Domelevo surcharged in the Kroll & Associates scandal involving a $1 million payment for no deliverables. The case, later dismissed under Asiedu’s leadership, became emblematic of the office’s shifted priorities.

“They changed the locks before he could return to his desk,” recalled Kofi Abedu, a civil society activist. “Domelevo’s crime was being effective. His successors seem more interested in protecting the powerful than recovering stolen funds.”

Audit Reports Expose Systemic Failures

Five years of audit reports (2019–2023) reveal a stark contrast in enforcement. Under Domelevo, surcharges held officials personally liable for mismanagement. Since his exit, not a single surcharge has been issued—even as audits uncovered GH¢9.96 billion in irregularities across ministries and agencies, plus GH¢327 million misappropriated by local governments.

The Auditor General’s 2023 report explicitly notes the absence of investigations or recoveries, flouting both constitutional mandates and the Supreme Court’s 2017 ruling in OccupyGhana v. Attorney-General, which compelled compliance.

Double Standards in Leadership

The irony deepens with Asiedu’s recent two-year contract extension, approved despite him turning 60 last year—the same age threshold used to force Domelevo out. Civil society organizations allege the discrepancy exposes politicized governance. “The rules apply only to those who inconvenience the system,” said anti-corruption group Integrity Initiative.

With public trust eroding, demands mount for Asiedu to explain the inaction. “How can his own reports detail colossal losses yet he takes no steps?” questioned Cassiel Ato Forson. The government has yet to respond, but analysts warn the impunity undermines Ghana’s fight against corruption, ranked 70th globally by Transparency International.

As Ghana grapples with economic turmoil, the GH¢10.2 billion question remains: Will accountability be sacrificed for political expediency, or can institutions reclaim their mandate to protect public funds? For now, the Auditor General’s office—once a beacon of reform—stands at the center of a storm it appears reluctant to weather.

‘Issac Adongo deserves better than BoG Board member’

0

A youth organisation in Bolgatanga Central, primarily composed of supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged President John Dramani Mahama to reconsider his decision to overlook the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Isaac Adongo, in his ministerial appointments.

The group has warned that Mr Adongo’s exclusion from a ministerial position could result in significant backlash against the party in future elections within the constituency.

This declaration from the youth wing comes in response to the announcement of Mr Adongo’s appointment to the Board of the Bank of Ghana (BoG) on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

Upon learning of this appointment, the youth expressed their discontent, characterising it as an “insult” to the Member of Parliament, asserting that the MP merited a more prestigious position.

In a press conference held in Bolgatanga of the Upper East Region on Wednesday, the youth said the sacrifices demonstrated by Mr Adongo while the party was in opposition could not be rewarded with just a Board Member of the BoG.

According to the NDC Communication Officer for the Bolgatanga Central, Job Aboyom, said the people of Bolgatanga were disappointed when they were told the Economist of enormous proportion was appointed a member of the Board of the BoG.

“We were promised by the President when he visited the constituency on a campaign trail on May 14, 2024, that he (the the flag bearer of the NDC) would recognise the hard work of Mr Isaac Adongo with an appointment of ministerial portfolio, if the NDC won power.”

“And we’re totally disgruntled the MP is not even recognised by the president even in the latter’s deputy ministerial appointment,” the Communication officer lamented, while describing the decision to overlook the ministerial appointment of Mr Adongo as unacceptable.

He said the people would not badge on their call to President Mahama to give Mr Adongo a befitting appointment, otherwise the rejection of the latter in the ministerial appointments would be confronted with the wrath of the voters in future elections.

The Communication Officer of the party further explained that, the Bolgatanga legislator played a significant role in the historic victory of the NDC in the 2024 polls, and his economic lectures yielded positive outcome for the party in that direction.

Ghana’s anti-corruption laws outdated and ineffective

Ghana’s antiquated legal system has drawn criticism from Professor Henry Kwasi Prempeh, the chairman of the Constitutional Review Committee, who claims that it is insufficient to successfully fight corruption in the present era.

As a reviewer at the 5th Constitution Day Public Lecture, which was given by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng and had as its theme “A Few Good Men: Suppressing and Repressing Corruption and State Capture in Aid of Development,” Prof. Prempeh emphasized the pressing need for legal changes to bolster anti-corruption initiatives.

He noted that Ghana’s legal institutions and doctrines are antiquated, making it challenging to confront corruption’s changing character, even while the current constitution acknowledges that it offers certain tools for combating corruption.

“There are some tools in the constitution even as we find it today. The constitution is not perfect, but it does have something in there that can be the basis of a credible fight against corruption,” he stated.

He did, however, emphasize the necessity of legal innovation, pointing out that antiquated laws are insufficient to combat corruption in the modern world.

I taught Messi how to take penalties – Neymar

0

Neymar and Messi during their time in Barcelona Neymar and Messi during their time in Barcelona

Former Barcelona forward Neymar Jr. has disclosed that he once helped his former Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi master the art of taking penalties.

Messi, although regarded as one of the best footballers the world has ever seen, has on a few occasions fluffed his lines when it comes to taking penalties.

Notably, he missed from the spot in some crucial games throughout his career—the misses against Chelsea in Barcelona’s Champions League exit in 2012 and Chile in Argentina’s Copa America final defeat in 2016.

However, he turned the corner on penalties at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, scoring four out of the five penalties Argentina were awarded and also scoring in the shootout against the Netherlands and France.

But his penalty-taking transformation didn’t happen overnight, as Brazilian football icon Neymar revealed he played a significant role in Messi’s growth.

In an interview with Podpah, the former Paris Saint Germain (PSG) forward recounted how Messi approached him for lessons about penalties.

“I helped Messi take penalties. We were in training, and he asked me, ‘How do you take penalties like that?’ I was like: Are you crazy? You’re Messi. If I can do it, you can too. Then I taught him, and he trained,” he said.

The two enjoyed a storied career, winning multiple trophies together, including winning the treble at Barcelona in 2015 and eventually teaming up again in Paris to win the Ligue 1 with PSG in 2022.

BoG governor to appear before Parliament on March 5 over new HQ

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Johnson Asiama, is scheduled to appear before Parliament on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, to address concerns regarding the construction of the central bank’s new head office.

This follows a request from the Members of Parliament of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in August 2023 for detailed information on the project’s financing, cost, scope, and timelines.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, the Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga stated that the bank’s management will need to provide justifications for the construction of the new building.

“We have decided at the committee meeting that next week, Wednesday, we will invite the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, as an independent constitutional body, to come to this house to brief us on the pricing of the new Bank of Ghana head office building.

“We want to know how the price variation took place, how quantities were, and the justification for the need for a new Bank of Ghana Headquarters,” he stated.

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, inaugurated the Bank Square, a newly built headquarters to house the bank’s new office.

The Bank Square combines innovative architecture with advanced technology, reflecting the central bank’s dedication to operational excellence and economic resilience.

The state-of-the-art facility is poised to enhance the BoG’s capacity to regulate and oversee Ghana’s evolving financial system effectively.

Former president Akufo-Addo emphasized that the new headquarters underscores Ghana’s commitment to modernizing its financial infrastructure to meet global standards and support sustainable economic development.

Skype signs off: Microsoft to shutter service after two decades

0

Washington, Feb. 28, (dpa/GNA) – Skype, the once-popular video call service, will cease operations after more than 20 years in May, owner Microsoft said on Friday.

“Starting in May 2025, Skype will no longer be available,” said a brief post on X that encouraged users to switch to Microsoft’s communications app Teams.

Skype was founded in Luxembourg in 2003 by Niklas Zennström of Sweden and Janus Friis of Denmark. The service allowed a mass audience to make free voice and video calls over the internet for the first time.

It was particularly popular for international communication as it avoided high telephone costs.

At its peak, Skype had several hundred million users per month worldwide. According to the Similarweb statistics service, the number of users has since fallen to around 30 million per month.

Skype users can not only call other Skype users, but also make calls to landline and mobile numbers. A Skype credit or subscription is required for this feature.

$8.5 billion for Skype

Microsoft bought Skype in 2011 for $8.5 billion and integrated it into its ecosystem, including Windows and Office.

Despite this integration, Skype has lost ground to competitors such as Zoom and WhatsApp.

But Microsoft Teams, which launched in 2017, has now established itself as one of the leading providers in the collaboration software market and plays a central role in corporate communications.

Ghana to host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium

0

FIFA has approved the Accra Sports Stadium as the host for Ghana’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against Chad in the March international break.

The Black Stars will take on Chad in their fifth World Cup qualifying match on Friday, March 21, 2025, kicking off at 19:00 hours.

Having put a disappointing African Cup of Nations qualifying campaign behind them where the Black Stars failed to qualify for the continent’s most prestigious tournament for the first time in two decades, the Black Stars will now shift their focus to the 2026 World Cup, a competition where they are currently excelling in the qualifying phase.

The Black Stars have accumulated nine points from four matches, tying them with Comoros, although they currently occupy second place, boasting a record of three victories and one loss.

Ghana’s qualifying campaign kicked off with a narrow 1-0 victory over Madagascar, but they stumbled with a loss to Comoros. However, the Black Stars quickly regained momentum with back-to-back wins against Mali and the Central African Republic in June last year .

The last match Ghana played at the Accra Sports Stadium was in the final round of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, where they suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat to Niger, marking the first time Niger had ever beaten Ghana on Ghanaian soil.

Ghana will wrap up the March international window with a trip to Morocco for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier match against Madagascar on Monday, March 24, 2025.

Initially set to take place in Antananarivo, the match has been relocated to Al Hoceima, Morocco, due to Madagascar’s national stadium not meeting the required standards.

Reduce the cost of DNA tests

Kumawood actor, Big Akwes Kumawood actor, Big Akwes

Popular Kumawood actor, Big Akwes, has called on government to assist in reducing the high costs of DNA or paternity tests in the country.

According to him, such an action would help men, including himself to prevent the heartbreaks of later discovering their children are not theirs.

The actor, in an interview with Max TV, referenced several high-profile cases, including that of former Black Stars captain Odartey Lamptey, who discovered that three of his children were not his, and a Kumasi-based pastor who found out that three out of his four children were not biologically related to him.

Big Akwes expressed hope that President John Dramani Mahama would take steps to reduce the cost of DNA testing during his tenure.

“I am even praying that Mahama helps reduce the cost of DNA tests so lots of men, including me, can afford it. Even if it comes down to 1,000 cedis, it will help many men in the country,” he said.

The actor made this appeal while revealing that four women are claiming he is the father of their children.

“Right now, about 4 ladies are saying I’m the father of their children. So I want to conduct the test just to be sure. The children who look like me are safe. But those who don’t look like me are the ones I won’t conduct the tests on,” he added.

Big Akwes also emphasised that wives should not feel threatened if their husbands request DNA tests, especially if they are confident in their faithfulness in the marriage.

“If your husband says he wants to do a DNA test and you haven’t cheated on him, allow him to go ahead,” he stated.

Women of Valour demands urgent and transparent justice in KNUST student’s murder

Women of Valour (WoV), an advocacy group championing women’s rights, has called for urgency, transparency, and diligence in handling the murder case of Yabane Deladem Aku, a final-year Biological Science student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

The group insists that authorities must ensure the perpetrator is fully held accountable under the law.

In a strongly worded statement on February 28, WoV described the murder as a tragic reminder of the ongoing threat of gender-based violence. The organization also raised concerns about the safety of women and girls, even in spaces meant for education and personal development.

Beyond condemning the attack, WoV emphasized that justice must be swift and thorough. The arrest of suspect Daniel Tuffour has been welcomed as a positive step, and KNUST has assured students that security measures will be reinforced to protect them. However, WoV argues that such commitments must translate into concrete legal action to hold the perpetrator accountable and serve as a deterrent against future acts of violence.

“While we acknowledge the swift response of the Ghana Police Service in arresting a suspect and KNUST’s reaffirmed commitment to student safety through planned security enhancements, we urge the authorities to pursue this case with urgency, transparency, and diligence to ensure the perpetrator is held fully accountable under the law,” the group stressed.

As Ghanaian society grapples with the shock of Yabane’s murder, the advocacy group extended its condolences to her family, friends, and colleagues. WoV reaffirmed its commitment to supporting efforts aimed at ending gender-based violence and ensuring safer environments for women and girls.

“Justice for Yabane must be swift, decisive, and uncompromising,” the statement concluded.

Joana Yabane was found dead near the Central Laboratory on the university campus in the early hours of Thursday. In a statement, the university confirmed that her body was discovered close to the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Centre around 5:00 a.m. on February 27, 2025.

The tragic killing has sparked widespread outrage, particularly among KNUST students, many of whom are demanding increased security and stricter protective measures on campus. It has also reignited discussions about the broader issue of violence against women, with advocacy groups calling for systemic reforms to protect vulnerable individuals.

Meanwhile, the suspect, Daniel Tuffour, was arraigned before Kumasi Circuit Court 2 on Friday, February 28, and subsequently remanded into custody.

Opare Addo is the communications manager of Accra Hearts of Oak Opare Addo is the communications manager of Accra Hearts of Oak

The management of Accra Hearts of Oak will liaise with their legal team on the recent ruling on a court case between the club and its former employee, Charles Kwarteng.

The former Hearts of Oak Commercial Manager took the club to the courts, demanding some contractual payments and compensations to be made to him.

On Thursday, February 28, 2025, the court ruled in his favour and further asked the club to pay some money to him as a form of compensation.

Responding to this ruling, the communication manager of the club, Opare Addo, told the media the club has taken notice of the judgement of the court and will seek further legal advice from their legal team on their next step of action.

“Yes, the ruling has been given, and we as a law-abiding institution, and it is within our right to seek further professional and legal advice from our lawyers so we can bring closure to this matter. For now, management will await legal advice on the matter, and based on that, we will know the next action to take. It is possible our lawyers will meet him and discuss issues of payment plan, and then the other steps will follow.

“For now, I will entreat everybody to remain calm as we await further directions from our legal team, and then we will know the next step to take. We are poised to collaborate with our former employee and his legal team to respect the ruling of the court,” Addo said.

This comes after the Accra High Court ordered Accra Hearts of Oak to pay an amount of GH¢108,637 to their former Commercial Affairs Manager, Charles Kwarteng, over wrongful dismissal.

Charles Kwarteng was the Commercial Manager for Hearts from 2019 to 2021.

Pooley stabbed at ‘ghetto,’ transported to Stadium—Journalist reveals

0

A journalist has disclosed startling revelations regarding the tragic death of Asante Kotoko fan Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as ‘Nana Pooley.’

According to Enoch Kwesi Worlanyo Wallace of Asempa FM, Pooley was stabbed at a location described as a ‘ghetto’ outside the Nana Amoah Kronmansah II Park in Nsoatre before being transported to the stadium, where he was later pronounced dead.

Wallace’s account aligns with earlier statements by GFA Safety and Security Chairperson DCOP Lydia Donkor, who confirmed that the fan died outside the stadium.

Per my investigations, Pooley went to a popular hood, also known as a ghetto, for a casual conversation at Nsoatre. During the discussion, a dispute unrelated to football erupted. In the heat of the moment, tempers flared, and an individual named Brimah allegedly stabbed Pooley.

He further revealed that a tricycle owner, identified as Sunsum, transported Pooley to the stadium in a mini tricycle, commonly referred to as a ‘pragia.’

Sunsum was taking him to the hospital. On their way, Pooley noticed an ambulance at the stadium and decided to stop to seek medical attention. Unfortunately, due to excessive bleeding, he shortly collapsed and died

He added that Sunsum has since made himself available to the police to assist with ongoing investigations.

Following the police arrest, Sunsum reported himself to the authorities to provide a detailed account of the incident. Both the police and some club officials are aware of these developments, which explains the recent silence on the case. This is also part of the reason Kotoko agreed to return to the Ghana Premier League.

Pooley to be laid to rest on March 7

In related news, Alex Manu, Chairman of the Asante Kotoko Circles, has confirmed that the late Francis Yaw Frimpong, widely known as Nana Pooley, will be laid to rest on March 7.

The incident has sparked widespread concern and calls for a thorough investigation to ensure justice is served.

Stricter gun control needed at traditional events after Nungua shooting

Deputy Minister-Designate Calls for Stricter Gun Control at Traditional Events After Nungua Shooting

Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, the Deputy Minister Designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, has called for stricter gun control measures at traditional events following a shooting incident at the enskinment ceremony of Lawrencia Naa Borley Nelson, also known as Naa Gamu, the newly enskinned Queen of the Ga-Adangme Muslim Union (Nungua West).

The incident occurred on February 26, 2025, in Nungua when a musketeer accidentally discharged a live bullet, striking Naa Gamu in the thigh.

She and her husband were being enskinned as queen and chief of the Ga-Adangme Muslim Union’s Nungua West branch when the unfortunate event took place.

Addressing the incident during her vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee, Rita Odoley Sowah stressed the need for stricter regulations to prevent similar accidents.

She emphasized the importance of implementing better control measures to ensure that cultural practices do not endanger lives, urging stakeholders to work together to enforce safety protocols at traditional events.

“Where there are traditional programmes, there is some form of shooting and we are supposed to use gunpowder for such things. As we heard, it means they used a live bullet at the programme, which is not right.

“So, I believe with my minister, we will work with the Ministry of the Interior so that when there are such programmes where they will be using the guns, they need to take bullets from the police or there must be security presence at such functions,” she stated.

Duncan-Williams advises Mahama

0

The Founder of Action Chapel International, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams, has advised President John Mahama to remain humble and grateful.

During a special fellowship with the clergy at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Friday, the Archbishop emphasized that power and leadership are divinely bestowed and should be exercised with wisdom and awareness of history.

“The Most High rules in the affairs of men and gives the kingdoms of men to whomever He chooses,” he remarked.

He also praised President Mahama for his continued engagement with the church, even when in opposition, and his gratitude for God’s blessings.

“I thank you for your example. When you were in opposition, you still engaged with the church community, and all these men and women of God stood in prayer with you. Now that God has given you another opportunity, you have not forgotten,” he said.

Drawing inspiration from Nelson Mandela’s legacy, the Archbishop urged Mahama to embrace reconciliation, especially towards those who may have wronged him in the past.

“You have not lost your common touch. Whether in opposition or in government, you remain the same. Stay that way, don’t change. Do not use this victory to settle scores with anyone. When power is entrusted to you for the benefit of the people, do not use it to prove a point. There are serious implications for that,” he cautioned.

We must adopt a collective approach to tackle corruption – Afenyo-Markin

0

Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has called for a collective approach in addressing corruption, urging Ghanaians to broaden their perspective on the issue rather than limiting it to politicians alone.

Speaking at the Constitution Day Public Lecture on Friday, February 28, he questioned the need to blame only politicians for corruption.

“Do we often narrow the issue of corruption and limit it to the political class, or perhaps we have to broaden it and look at it as part of the general life of all of us as a people?” he quizzed.

He explained that corruption is often influenced by cultural and societal expectations, which sometimes push leaders into unethical decisions.

“As part of our culture, don’t we make ourselves vulnerable to what we call corruption? Our cultural lifestyle and how we relate to ourselves makes the leader very vulnerable, and in trying to meet those expectations, if you don’t have the resources, you may end up acting wrongly.”

Mr Afenyo-Markin further highlighted that tackling corruption requires a joint effort from citizens, businesses, civil society, and the media, rather than just placing the burden on government officials.

“It is not enough to talk about corruption, we must look at a collective approach in how to deal with it. We cannot lay blame on one side, we have to be very collective and tackle it head-on.”

He also encouraged civil society to play a more active role in holding leaders accountable, noting that public scrutiny could serve as a deterrent.

“I encourage discussions by civil society all aimed at cracking the whip on the political class. If somebody knows that on the radio, people will be talking about his lifestyle, he will be careful when he gets into office.”

He concluded by emphasising that corruption is not just a government problem but a societal issue that requires all stakeholders to take responsibility.

“The laws are just not enough, it is our collective will. And in the process as citizens we must never give up because giving up will mean leading us to a failed state, that cannot help us as a nation. Let us continue to crack the whip, let us continue to be hard on the political class but at the same time other actors in that chain of corruption, because if you leave the other actors and focus on the political class, dealing with the canker will still remain a big headache on our heads as a country,” he concluded.

Vice President Opoku-Agyemang lays wreath in commemoration of 28th February shooting incident

0

By Iddi Yire

Accra, Feb 28, GNA – Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on Friday laid a wreath on behalf of the Government and People of Ghana, in commemoration of the Christiansborg Cross Road Shooting incident, which occurred on 28th February 1948.

On 28th February, 1948, veterans of world war two, who had fought with the Gold Coast Regiment of the Royal West African Frontier Force, organised a peaceful demonstration marching to Christiansborg Castle, Osu, Accra, Gold Coast (Ghana), to hand in a petition to the Colonial Governor, demanding that they receive end of war benefits and pay which they had been promised.

Before reaching the Castle, the veterans were ordered to disperse by the colonial police chief.

When they refused, he opened fire on them instantly killing three – Sergeant Adjetey, Corporal Attipoe and Private Odartey Lamptey.

The death of three veterans led to outbreak of violence across the country and a strong agitation for independence, which served as a catalyst for Ghana’s independence on 6th March 1957.

Other wreaths were laid by General Thomas Oppong Preprah, the Chief of the Defence Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on behalf of the security forces.

Major General C.B. Yaache (Rtd), the Immediate Board Chair of the Veterans Association of Ghana laid the third wreath on behalf of veterans.

‘My security risk is Ultra High’

0

The Special Prosecutor has made a chilling revelation about the grave dangers that come with his role, stating emphatically that his security risk is “ultra high.”

Speaking at the Constitution Day Public Lecture, the Special Prosecutor painted a stark picture of the perils faced by himself and his team in their relentless fight against corruption.

“The position of Special Prosecutor is a thankless job. It fetches you droves of enemies daily and brings you into direct confrontation with the lowest forms of debasement in humans. You do not go asking for it; it finds you,” he stated, underscoring the precarious nature of his work.

“Everyone wants the Special Prosecutor to do his job, yet no one wants the Special Prosecutor to do his job. It all depends on the subject of the investigation,” he remarked, highlighting the entrenched reluctance to submit to the mechanisms of justice.

According to the Special Prosecutor, the backlash from corruption investigations is fierce and unrelenting.

“Though we accept that we need to rein in corruption, no one wants to yield freely to scrutiny. No one happily accedes to indictment. No one welcomes investigations. No one wants to be called out as a suspect in corruption-related activities. And so, there is always a strong pushback, intended to deflect focus from scrutiny and accountability,” he said.

That pushback, he noted, manifests in various ways, including orchestrated attacks, smear campaigns, and vile publications aimed at discrediting the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

More worrying, according to him, is the threats sometimes extended beyond mere reputational damage to life-threatening situations.

“Some of the enemies this job attracts will not hesitate to take a life should the opportunity present itself,” he warned, stressing that both he and his operational officers live under constant threat.

“Thus, my security risk is ultra high, and I have to perpetually be on the lookout for attacks on my person.”

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has been actively investigating high-profile cases, including an inquiry into four corruption investigations such as the National Cathedral project and Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML).

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the government will airlift 5,000 Ghanaian pilgrims to Mecca for the 2025 Hajj.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the Hajj Village on Friday, February 28, 2025, he emphasised the government’s commitment to ensuring a smooth pilgrimage process.

“After we pay off the millions of dollars of debts that have accumulated in Saudi Arabia from earlier Hajj operations, this year, we intend to airlift exactly 5,000 pilgrims to the Holy Land. And the taskforce has announced March 13, 2025, as the deadline for payment,” he stated.

President Mahama further disclosed that the government had secured a pre-financing arrangement with a local bank, ensuring that all deposits for accommodation, transportation, and other essential facilities were fully covered.

“We have facilitated a pre-finance arrangement with one of the local banks. And so, I’m pleased as I speak to you to announce that all deposits for accommodation, transport, and other facilities have been paid,” he said.

He also directed the Hajj Task Force to strictly adhere to the set limit of 5,000 pilgrims.

“I’ve instructed the Hajj Task Force that they should cut off at exactly 5,000 and not go beyond 5,000. We don’t want the previous situation where people rush with late payments and we are unable to airlift them and become complaining,” he stated.

Regina Daniels is back on Instagram, but something is noticeably different because videos and pictures of her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, are nowhere to be found on her page.

However, fans were quick to spot a major change—her name had been updated from Regina Daniels Nwoko to Regina Daniels Nneamaka Favour, and every photo and video featuring her husband had been deleted.

Her social media hiatus came amid rumours that Senator Nwoko had fathered a child with actress Chika Ike, a claim he later dismissed.

While the reason behind Regina’s profile changes remains unclear, the move has fuelled speculation, with fans flooding her comment section with curiosity about the state of her marriage.

Kissi Agyebeng is the Special Prosecutor of Ghana Kissi Agyebeng is the Special Prosecutor of Ghana

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has stated that it is facing relentless attacks from individuals and groups currently under investigation or prosecution.

Since its inception, some have deemed the OSP redundant, arguing that it has failed to fulfill its mandate and serves no useful purpose in the country’s fight against corruption. This has led to calls for its outright dissolution.

However, speaking at the 5th Annual Constitution Day Public Lecture on Friday, February 28, 2025, the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, stated that while it is open to discussions on its dissolution, its leaders are facing unfair and unjust criticism.

“There have been, and continue to be, attempts to discredit the office and its principal officers unfairly and unjustly, met with formidable resistance and pushback,” the Special Prosecutor said.

He further said that many of these attacks come from individuals under investigation, who seek to undermine the office to evade accountability.

“Often, the attacks on the office and its principal officers are mounted by persons who find themselves on the receiving end of an investigation or prosecution, as well as their associates,” he added.

In 2021, former President Akufo-Addo officially swore Kissi Agyebeng into office as the Special Prosecutor.

The 47-year-old lawyer succeeded Martin Amidu, who resigned in November 2020.

Komenda Sugar Factory to be operationalized on expedited timeline – Trade minister

0

Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare

The government is taking steps to resurrect the 35-million-US-dollar Komenda Sugar Factory.

The Minister of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, says the edifice, which forms part of the Komenda Sugar Development Company, will be reopened in an expedited timeline.

She made this known during a working visit to Komenda to assess the factory, which has been neglected for some eight years.

To honor President John Dramani Mahama’s promise of prioritizing production in the country over importation, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare visited the abandoned Komenda Sugar Factory.

The facility, which was rehabilitated and commissioned in 2016 after closing down post-Nkrumah regime, was restarted for a short period in 2016 but had to be closed down due to a material shortage—a matter the Trade Minister says will be resolved through locally sourced raw materials.

“We will start planting sugarcane here to make sugar and ethanol here at the factory,” she added.

However, the minister expressed disappointment over parts of the abandoned factory that had been ruined due to the neglect.

Also, during the tour of the facility, the Central Regional Minister, Ekow Panin Okyere, noted that a special high-yielding variety of sugarcane will be planted in the area to boost productivity.

The Member of Parliament for the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem Constituency, Samuel Atta Mills, acknowledged the potential of multiple employment opportunities the factory’s revival will bring.

He commended the prioritization of the factory, especially at a time when young people in the community have resorted to moving to other areas for greener pastures.

“Almost all our youth are outside. They are in Takoradi, Accra, or even outside the country looking for jobs while we have this factory here,” Mr. Okyere bemoaned.

Prior to inspecting the facility, the Trade Minister, Central Regional Minister, and the Member of Parliament for the area paid a courtesy call to the Omanhene of the Komenda traditional area, Okatakyie Komeh VIII.

The Paramount Chief thanked the government for prioritizing the Komenda Sugar Factory in the industrialization of Ghana.

The Komenda Sugar Development Company, when fully operational, will run as a 24-hour factory, running three shifts, employing at least three times the expected number of workers.

Sugarcane for the factory will be planted by the government and also bought from local farms to produce sugar and ethanol.

“Arriving at camp with the national team and rubbing shoulders with the big stars, not just of Ghanaian football but African football as a whole, was jaw-dropping at times and a lot of pinch-myself moments.”

“I remember being excited but also very nervous to meet the rest of the players. Once we went down to train and I met many of the players, I immediately felt settled, and that’s credit to all the players who were there as they made me feel very welcome and part of the family,” he said.

Although Appiah had to wait for his debut, as he was an unused substitute in Ghana’s first two games of the tournament, he finally got his moment when he was substituted for Jordan Ayew in Ghana’s last group game against South Africa.

He shared the excitement of donning the Black Stars jersey for the first time.

“The call-up itself was great, but putting on that shirt for the first time and gracing the pitch with my teammates was euphoric and a dream come true,” he added.

Appiah played four times in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, winning the silver medal after Ghana lost to Ivory Coast 8-9 on penalties. Overall, he earned seven caps for Ghana and scored one goal.

Woman Arrested For Biting Customer’s Testicles Over 20 Pesewas Debt

0

What started as a minor disagreement over a 20 pesewas debt has escalated into a bizarre and violent incident in Assin Wurakese Camp in the Central Region. A 43-year-old woman, Esi Affumwaa, is now in police custody after allegedly biting a male customer’s testicles during a heated altercation at her drinking spot.

According to police reports, Osman, a 36-year-old farmer, visited Affumwaa’s drinking spot to buy a cigarette for GH₵1.20. However, he only had GH₵1 at the time and promised to settle the remaining 20 pesewas later.

When Osman returned the following day, he bought another cigarette and paid GH₵5, expecting Affumwaa to deduct his previous debt from the payment. However, Affumwaa confronted him, insisting that the outstanding 20 pesewas must be paid separately before any new purchases could be made.

What started as a verbal argument quickly escalated into a physical fight. Osman claims Affumwaa struck him on the head with a stick, knocking him to the ground. Matters worsened when Affumwaa, allegedly with the help of her children, attacked Osman and bit him on the testicles, leaving him bleeding profusely.

Osman’s screams for help drew the attention of bystanders, who rushed him to the hospital for urgent treatment. After receiving medical care, Osman was discharged, but the shock of the incident continues to ripple through the community.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Jacob Kumedzro, the Assin Fosu District Police Commander, has confirmed the incident, stating that investigations are ongoing.

The incident has sparked mixed reactions, with some residents shocked at how quickly a minor debt dispute spiraled into violence, while others question whether more could have been done to calm the situation before it turned physical.

As the investigation unfolds, this bizarre tale serves as a reminder that even the smallest misunderstandings can lead to life-changing consequences. Whether driven by frustration, temper, or pride, both Osman and Affumwaa now find themselves at the center of a story that has left the entire community talking.
