The viral sensation has sparked mixed reactions online, with many netizens expressing shock, amusement, and curiosity about how one person could manage such an extensive romantic network.

As reported by ghana page

According to sources close to the matter, Tafo Balthazar, whose real name is yet to be confirmed, is said to have been involved with numerous women across Kumasi and beyond. Affirmative Action law must go beyond statistics – Jane Opoku-Agyemang

0

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has urged the public to look beyond the numerical targets set by the Affirmative Action Law and instead focus on practical strategies that enhance the overall well-being of women in the country.

Delivering the keynote address at the 2025 Women’s Dialogue, themed Resetting the Agenda for Women: Accelerating Action on Women’s Rights, Equity, and Empowerment, she emphasized that while the 30 percent women’s representation outlined in the law is important, the real impact lies in creating meaningful opportunities that inspire and empower young girls.

“We stand committed to advance women’s empowerment and raise the level of gender equality. The Affirmative Action Law now beckons and we all need to make good uses of the opportunities in the supreme interest of our country and of our women in particular.

“I don’t believe that it is only a matter of counting although that is important. The counting must go beyond the numbers and translate into effective policies that work and encourage the young girls behind us to believe in themselves and know that, they can!”

I will carry Mahama on my back if he is able to eradicate corruption from Ghana – Prof Adei

0

Renowned economist, Professor Stephen Adei, has declared that he would physically carry President John Mahama Mahama, in appreciation of his efforts, if he succeeds in eradicating corruption from Ghana.

He said this on the KeyPoints with Alfred Ocansey on March 8.

“Even though I’m an old man, I will do push-ups and physically put him on my back,” Prof. Adei said during a discussion on the fight against corruption.

He stressed that corruption remains the biggest obstacle to Ghana’s development, warning that without serious reforms, the country will continue to underperform economically and socially.

Prof Adei therefore called for the establishment of a special anti-corruption court in Ghana to fast-track corruption cases and ensure accountability.

Prof Adei

According to Prof. Adei, corruption cases often take years to resolve, allowing perpetrators to escape justice. He emphasized the importance of separating corruption trials from the regular judicial system, arguing that such a court should operate like land courts or commercial courts to expedite cases.

“We must have special courts, not kangaroo courts, where cases drag on for seven or eight years,” he stated.

Prof. Adei further stressed that effective anti-corruption efforts require a high probability of offenders being caught and punished. He urged authorities to implement strict measures to ensure accountability, regardless of political affiliations.

His call for an anti-corruption court adds to growing demands for judicial reforms to combat corruption in Ghana effectively.

Dansoman, Legon residents urge Mahama to complete Agenda 111 Projects

0

Residents of Legon and Dansoman are calling on the Mahama administration to complete the stalled Agenda 111 hospital projects, which were initiated under the Akufo-Addo government.

Their concerns follow President John Dramani Mahama’s first State of the Nation Address where he stated that none of the Agenda 111 projects are operational. Reports estimate that approximately $1.7 billion is required to complete them.

A visit by Channel One News to some project sites revealed that construction has either stalled or is at a very early stage.

At New Legon in the Adentan Municipality, sand, gravel, and construction equipment were spotted at the site, but work remains on hold due to an ongoing audit.

The contractor was absent, and the project has seen no progress since the change in government.

Similarly, at Dansoman, within the premises of Ebenezer Senior High School, construction remains halted, with the foundation yet to be completed.

Local residents have expressed their disappointment and urged the government to prioritize the completion of the projects.

“It will be good if the government completes it for us,” said Aaron Oware Preko, a resident of Dansoman.

Another resident, Francis Macleen, added, “We were excited about the project, but the NPP government couldn’t complete it. We appeal to the new President to ensure it is completed.”

With the 2025 budget set to be presented on March 11, many Ghanaians are eager to see whether the government will allocate funds to revive the Agenda 111 projects.

G/A region : Kayayei hostel neglected

0

The Training Center and Hostel facility, established under the previous government’s Kayayei Empowerment Programme to support female head porters in Accra, has deteriorated due to neglect, leaving the once-promising initiative in limbo.

The program, launched by Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on May 21, 2024, aimed to provide vocational training and transitional jobs for 5,000 female head porters (Kayayei).

However, the initiative has stalled, and the facility, designed to accommodate and train beneficiaries, has been left abandoned.

The training was structured as an intensive three-week module covering skills in baking, beading, personal healthcare, financial management, and entrepreneurship. Each facility was meant to house 300 women, with additional hostels planned for Ashaiman, the Ashanti Region, and the Bono East Region.

The project was a joint effort involving government agencies, private enterprises, and civil society organizations to promote economic empowerment for marginalized women.

Speaking to Channel One News, Pearl Mawusi Broohm, the National Youth Employment Agency (YEA) Coordinator for the Kayayei Program, acknowledged that while the initial target of training 5,000 women was not met, progress had been made.

“The target was 5,000 by the end of December, but unfortunately, we couldn’t meet it. However, we made great progress. When we reached out to them, we explained the program and those interested joined voluntarily. So far, we have trained about 3,600 female porters. We have tracked them, and many are using the skills they acquired to generate income.”

Despite these efforts, the project has suffered setbacks, particularly following the 2024 elections. Emmanuel Asamoah, the facility manager for the Kayayei Empowerment Programme, recounted how the centre was vandalized.

“After the elections, the next day, we received reports that some individuals claiming to be from the NDC had taken over the premises. They looted items, including televisions, CCTV monitors, and other equipment. I went there myself and saw the damage. A report was made to the police, and they took over the case.”

Despite growing concerns over the facility’s deteriorating state, Pearl Mawusi Broohm insists that the YEA has not been officially notified of the issue but assured that measures would be taken to restore it for future trainees.

“There is a permanent facility manager responsible for maintenance, ensuring that any necessary repairs are made promptly. I was there in December, and the place was in good shape. If there are any current issues, they have not been officially brought to our attention. However, we are preparing to admit the next cohort for training.”

I have a problem when leaders seek solutions after winning elections

0

Vice President of Imani Africa, Kofi Bentil Vice President of Imani Africa, Kofi Bentil

The Vice President of Imani Africa, Kofi Bentil, has wondered why some political leaders campaign with the promise of having solutions to the country’s problems only to assume office and seek output on how to resolve them.

In a discussion on NewsFile on March 8, 2025, he emphasised that leaders should assume office with well-strucured plans.

“You stand for election to lead this country, and you tell us you know the problems and you have ideas about how to solve it. I have a problem when now, when you get into office, you call everybody and say, how do we solve this?

“Now the negative aspect of it, is that you don’t have an idea. But you’re not going to tell us and basically, you’re wasting our time. I would have thought that a better way, a more compressed way, a more focused discussion would have been something like, these are the problems we have identified, these are the solutions”, he noted.

His comments follow the recent National Economic Dialogue and the National Education forum held by the government to gather solutions to the country’s economic and educational challenges.

Big relief for Sudan as Kwasi Appiah is set to join camp after resolved unpaid salaries

Sudan head coach James Kwasi Appiah Sudan head coach James Kwasi Appiah

Sudan can heave a sigh of relief as head coach James Kwasi Appiah is set to join the team’s training camp in Saudi Arabia after resolving issues related to unpaid wages.

The Falcons of Jediane are currently in Saudi Arabia for a 12-day training camp as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers this month.

Appiah, who initially boycotted the team’s training due to unpaid entitlements, is now expected to join the camp today or tomorrow.

His compatriots, assistant coaches Ignatius Osei Fosu and Eric Amponsah, arrived in camp on Thursday, signaling that Kwasi Appiah will also join the team for the crucial matches.

According to sources from africasoccer.com, the former Black Stars tactician is set to depart Ghana for Saudi Arabia either today or tomorrow.

Sudan will face Senegal on March 18 before taking on South Sudan on March 24 in the fifth and sixth rounds of the qualifiers in Group B.

The Falcons of Jediane currently sit atop Group B with 10 points, following an impressive performance in their first four matches.

I was chairman of NDPC for over 2 years and we could not have a dialogue with the president

0

Professor Stephen Adei while speaking during a recent interview revealed that, he was chairman of the NDPC for over 2 years and the council could not have a dialogue with the president.

“In his Words”

“You see, when I joined the UN, I was with the UN for 11 and a half years, and as an economic adviser, the first thing they did was touring all the Asian developing countries, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, and all of them you know to see, and one of the things that nearly struck me was that each one of them had what they called economic advisory bureau or national economic bureau, and they

were highly respected, they were well equipped with intellectuals. Infact in South Korea, we went to Bank and IMF offices, and every one of you there are paid the same because of how they value the intellectual capital, and the Korean Development Institute was such a brain behind the Korea”.

“And interestingly all the countries we visited in Asia had them. In Ghana sadly, we have made politics an end in itself. Now let me tell you something, our government are not interested in the National Development Planning Commission. They don’t fund them,

they don’t equip them with the technical personnel which is needed, and most of the time, they will not listen. I was chairman of NDPC for 2 and a half years, the council itself couldn’t have a dialogue once with the President”, Stephen Adei said.

TV3 Ghana shared the video on their official instagram page today being Saturday the 8th day of March, 2025 and it stirred massive reactions from the general public. Click on the link below to watch the video.

Gifty Oware detained over NSA payroll fraud probe

0

Gifty Oware-Mensah, a former Deputy Director of the National Service Authority and a current member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council, has been detained by the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) in connection with an ongoing payroll fraud investigation within the National Service Authority(NSA).

She was reportedly arrested on Friday, March 7, 2025, and has since been denied bail despite multiple attempts to secure her release.

Initial reports suggest that former New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary, John Boadu, had signed for her bail. However, she was later moved from the NIB premises, and her current whereabouts remain unknown.

Earlier this week, Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin confirmed that Oware-Mensah had been prepared to face the NIB regarding her alleged involvement in the NSA ghost-name scandal.

Her arrest follows a directive from President John Dramani Mahama during his first State of the Nation Address, in which he urged authorities to take action against individuals implicated in the NSA fraud case.

Reports indicate that some suspects have fled the country following the investigative exposé by The Fourth Estate.

In response, the President has ordered the freezing of their assets pending further investigations.

Oware-Mensah, who owns Berry Ladies FC, had only recently returned to Ghana on Tuesday, March 5, 2025, after a vacation abroad after the 2024 elections.

Her detention comes amid the recent arrest of former Deputy Director of Operations at the NSA, Ohene Djan, who was reportedly apprehended in a dramatic raid at his residence. Authorities are yet to release further details as investigations continue.

State institutions were bastardized under the NPP – Edem Agbana

0

Ketu North MP Edem Agbana Ketu North MP Edem Agbana

Ketu North MP Edem Agbana has praised President John Dramani Mahama for not only presenting the true state of the economy but also outlining bold plans to address the country’s challenges.

Speaking in Parliament, Agbana criticized the ruling government for failing to acknowledge the policy measures Mahama proposed.

“President Mahama did not only give us the picture of the economy that he inherited, but he was also generous to the good people of Ghana by providing a comprehensive plan to address the challenges he encountered,” he stated.

He particularly emphasized Mahama’s plan to improve governance, stating that under the current administration, state institutions had been undermined by partisanship.

“For the last eight years under the NPP government, we have witnessed the bastardization of state institutions. Even independent state institutions have been compromised by partisanship. The Judiciary, for instance, has lost public confidence, with seven out of ten Ghanaians expressing doubts about its credibility,” he said.

Agbana also highlighted Mahama’s flagship “1 Million Coders” initiative, which aims to train and equip young people with digital skills to combat unemployment.

“With the digital economy, the recruitment and training of one million coders under President Mahama will help address unemployment and expand the economy,” he explained.

He further noted that Mahama’s leadership would focus on prudent resource management, avoiding wasteful expenditures like the controversial National Cathedral project.

“We will not have a government that spends billions on a useless National Cathedral project. Instead, we will have a government that invests in productive sectors and creates jobs for the youth of this country,” he assured.

Vital leprosy drugs due in Nigeria after year delay

0

Awwal Musa has been able to get the drugs to treat her leprosy for the past year Awwal Musa has been able to get the drugs to treat her leprosy for the past year

People affected by leprosy in Nigeria should be able to get hold of vital drugs to treat the disease for the first time in a year from this weekend, the World Health Organization has said.

The country, which reports more than 2,000 new cases a year ran out of supplies partly because drugs were held up after new regulations were introduced.

The WHO said it had asked Nigeria to briefly lift its new testing policy and it expects the drugs to arrive from India on Sunday.

Leprosy is curable with a combination of different antibiotics, but if left untreated the patients’ health can deteriorate with sores and nerve damage that cause deformities.

All Awwal Musa’s fingers were clawed and her legs discharged pus. “Before last year, my wounds were getting healed but now they are getting worse. The pain is worse,” Ms Musa is quoted as saying.

The nerve damage may be irreversible.

Nigeria’s drug authority introduced new regulations for medicines aimed at tackling the importation of counterfeit and sub-standard drugs.

In recent years, several medicines have been recalled for failing to meet safety standards.

But the new measures have had an impact on the availability of crucial treatments, including those for leprosy.
