A win for Kotoko could see them return to the top of the table
Asante Kotoko will aim to reclaim the top spot in the Ghana Premier League by hosting Basake Holy Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors dropped to second after a midweek draw against Young Apostles in Wenchi, extending their unbeaten run to four matches.
The two sides last met in October 2024, playing out a 1-1 draw. Kotoko comes into this fixture following back-to-back draws against Samartex and Young Apostles, while Basake Holy Stars are struggling, having failed to win in their last six league outings.
Kotoko have been solid at home, boasting of three consecutive clean sheets in Kumasi, while Basake Holy Stars have defensive concerns, conceding in each of their last nine away matches.
Asante Kotoko have won 11 of their 22 league games this season, drawing six and losing five, scoring 24 goals while conceding 14. Basake Holy Stars have won six of their 21 games, with six draws and nine defeats, netting 21 goals and conceding 23.
A win for Kotoko could see them return to the top of the table. At the same time, Basake Holy Stars are desperate for a turnaround as they hover just above the relegation zone.
Kotoko’s defensive strength at home gives them an edge, but their attacking efficiency will be key against a side that has struggled on the road.
A day after a massive fire swept through Kumasi’s Central Business District in Adum, smoke, and embers continued to smolder in the wreckage.
The blaze, which erupted in the early hours of Friday, March 21, 2025, caused extensive damage to several shops, prompting an immediate response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
Firefighters worked tirelessly throughout the day and into the evening to contain and extinguish the flames.
The affected commercial hub, home to businesses dealing in mobile phones, accessories, jewellery, clothing, and second-hand items, suffered one of Kumasi’s most devastating fire incidents in recent history.
Excavators were deployed on Saturday, March 22, to demolish partially damaged structures, allowing firefighters better access to extinguish any remaining flames. The blaze left numerous shops in ruins, reducing metal containers to charred wreckage.
Affected traders scrambled to retrieve whatever remained of their goods, while others, fearing the fire could spread, moved their merchandise to safer locations.
Several individuals suffered injuries and panic attacks, with some receiving first aid before being transported to the Manhyia Government Hospital and the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
According to the National Ambulance Service, at least nine people, including firefighters, sustained injuries, while many others remain shaken by the disaster.
Emergency crews are still on-site, working to fully extinguish the fire and assess the extent of the destruction.

News Hub Creator1d
Anas Aremeyaw Anas claimed a US court awarded him $18m (£14m) in damages, after a jury said he was defamed by former Ghanaian MP Kennedy Agyapong.
The case stems from comments Agyapong made about Anas after his BBC investigation in 2018 that exposed football corruption in Ghana and elsewhere.
According to him, the court heard that Agyapong, among other accusations made on a podcast, had called him a “criminal” and alleged he was behind the murder of fellow journalist Ahmed Suale.
Anas lost a similar legal action in Ghana seven years ago. But after the release of the podcast episode in 2021 Anas went to court in the US state of New Jersey where Agyapong has a property.

The rapper now known as Ye shared disgraceful remarks containing an ableist slur to attack Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s children.
Mathew Knowles, the father of Beyoncé, said he hopes Kanye West will get “help.”
On Tuesday, the rapper now known as Ye posted disgraceful remarks on social media containing an ableist slur to attack Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s children, Rumi and Sir, who are 7 years old. He has since deleted the post, which made national headlines.
“WAIT HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN JAY Z AND BEYONCES YOUNGER KIDS,” Ye wrote at the time. “THEYRE RETARDED NO LIKE LITERALLY AND THIS IS WHY ARTIFICAL INSEMANATAION [SIC] IS SUCH A BLESSING.”
The post continued, “HAVING RETARDED CHILDREN IS A CHOICE.”
While Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles, seemingly reacted to the slight by quoting Scripture, her dad had a more direct response.
“People pay a price for being stupid, especially in the music industry,” Mathew Knowles told TMZ on Friday.
“I’m hopeful Kanye gets the type of help he needs, in terms of mental health,” he added.
Ye announced in 2018 that he had been diagnosed “with a mental condition,” later revealed as bipolar disorder. The rapper claimed earlier this year that he had been misdiagnosed, however, and has autism instead — and said at the time that he hadn’t taken his medication.
The “Real Friends” rapper named Jay-Z on Friday as one of the “12 rap kings,” and famously stormed the stage at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards to champion Beyoncé. But he appears to have fully fallen out of favor with the couple following Tuesday’s post, and a source told Page Six that Jay-Z and Beyoncé have even considered taking legal action.

Ye, whose earlier works garnered near-universal acclaim, was kicked off X (then Twitter) in 2022 for threatening to go “death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.” He has since praised dictator Adolf Hitler and sold swastika-emblazoned T-shirts.
Former Deputy Minister of Education and Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South, John Ntim Fordjour, has strongly criticized Frank Amoakohene over what he did during the recent fire outbreak at Adum in Kumasi.
He blamed the return of power outages, commonly known as dumsor, for the disaster and questioned the government’s spending priorities.
In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Ntim Fordjour accused the Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, of expressing frustration at the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) instead of addressing the root cause of the problem. According to him, the fire, which destroyed shops and properties, would not have occurred if dumsor had not returned under the current administration.
The MP raised two key questions in his post:
1. Would the fire have started if power outages had not returned to Kumasi under the government?
2. Could part of the GH¢2.7 billion allocated to Government Machinery, including GH¢78.8 million for government communications, have been used to equip the Fire Service with modern fire-fighting tools to better respond to such emergencies?
He accused the government of wasting resources on non-essential activities instead of prioritizing public safety. He urged leaders to stop complaining and focus on providing solutions to national problems.
Ntim Fordjour expressed his sympathies to the affected traders who lost their properties in the fire. The incident has sparked concerns among Ghanaians about the impact of dumsor and the need for better emergency response systems.
As investigations continue into the cause of the fire, many citizens are calling on the government to take urgent action to prevent such disasters in the future.
President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has called for embattled former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Adwoa Safo, to be given a fair hearing regarding her recent comments on the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) internal affairs and alleged corruption within Ghana’s School Feeding Programme.
Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday, March 22, Franklin Cudjoe stressed the importance of allowing Adwoa Safo to express her views, particularly after years of being misrepresented in the media.
“I think the lady must be heard, especially because she has been vilified in the media. There are a lot of things that have been said about her some of which even surprised me. But now that she is speaking, I think we need to let her speak,” he stated.
Franklin Cudjoe further questioned the NPP’s directive barring members from discussing why the party lost power in 2024, arguing that such conversations are inevitable.
“If the NPP is a separate organization, maybe they should let us know. The directive against discussing how they lost power applies to everyone anyway because everyone knows why the NPP lost power. I am even surprised by their stance,” he remarked.
He also highlighted one of Adwoa Safo’s key allegations that party leadership ignored critical warnings.
“One of the cardinal points Adwoa mentioned, which I thought was unfairly omitted from reports, was that the leadership did not listen. When she suggested that the School Feeding Programme funds were misappropriated by some party members and that she had an audit report to present, the President did not pay attention,” he added.
His comments come in response to Adwoa Safo’s allegations of widespread corruption and mismanagement within the School Feeding Programme, which provides meals to public school students.
These revelations have led to her referral to the NPP’s National Disciplinary Committee for breaching party rules on internal discussions.
Despite the party’s stance, Franklin Cudjoe urged the former Gender, Children, and Social Protection Minister to submit her findings on corruption within the programme to the Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) initiative for proper investigation and accountability.
He emphasized that full disclosure of such issues is crucial for governance reforms and accountability in Ghana.
Popular Yoruba Nollywood veteran actress, Dupe Jayesimi, has chronicled her story of being childless at over 60 years of age.
Jayesimi made the revelation on Saturday in a podcast with Abiola Adebayo’s ‘Talk-to-B’.
According to her, she was just unfortunate to be in the situation despite several attempts to be a mother.
The Ibadan-born actress added that her mother and family refused her plans to adopt a child when her desperation heightened, stressing, “If you adopt any kid, I will feed them to death. It was then I knew that I was in for a long ride.”
“I got married on October 22, 1988. I had started theatrical works then. In our marriage, we had no child for several years despite conceiving before the wedding ceremony. After the ceremony, I had a miscarriage, which was when our problems started. We had too many tests, with several attempts to conceive. My husband and I had a misunderstanding when he left me for months without checking back when we were already five years into our marriage. The problem lingered that he would begin to use a pillow to demarcate the bed.
“He began to make plans to make me leave the marriage. I had to pack out when I could no longer bear it. Two weeks after I left the house, another woman moved into the house, pregnant. I resorted to taking alcohol and sobbing for years. I had to move on when the problem was becoming unbearable. I summoned the courage to say that I wouldn’t get married again, but my parents rejected the plan, urging me to remarry.
“So I met one Alhaji who tried his best to make me conceive. I did IVF twice, and it didn’t even work. So one day, I conceived, without even knowing. At the point that I wanted to urinate when I came back from a location one night, I couldn’t, it was too hard, I had to call for a nurse who gave me pain relief and advised that I head for the hospital the following day. When I got to the hospital, the doctor said I was pregnant, but it was an ectopic pregnancy. I cried hell. Then I was already 40 years old. I was operated on and since then, I haven’t conceived. I had to leave the Alhaji because his wife began a war with him,” she noted.
She maintained that she had stopped overthinking the issue, believing that God would make her bear a child someday, especially because of her experience with men who would lie to sleep with her.
With tears while narrating her story, Jayesimi said, “There are several men who would lie that when you marry them, you will conceive. It is a lie. They want to sleep with you. Not that I don’t think about it, but I know God’s time is the best. I have taken a lot of steps to conceive. Those whom I trained their children mock me at the end of the day.
“This acting job is just a blessing in disguise. It has helped me sustain the watered ground of mockery. What I want to do now is get a child who will be my company. If I had not listened to my mum, I would have adopted a long time ago. I am not fighting with my mum, but I want her to stay clear of me because she’s the cause of my childlessness.”
Sack Him Immediately Before It Is Too Late – Kevin Taylor Sends Another Message To IGP
News Hub Creator19h
Kevin Taylor drops another message to the new Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service, IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno following his recent appointments in the Ghana Police Service. According to Kevin Taylor, DCOP Abrokwa who happens to be the former Ashanti Regional commander does not fit to occupy the position as the Deputy Director General of the criminal investigative department (CID).
According to Kevin Taylor, IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno should reconsider the appointment of DCOP Frank Abrokwah because he is not competent enough to handle his new position based on his track records in the police service.
“Mr IGP, permit me to bring this to your notice
There’s already controversy surrounding the positioning of DCOP Frank Abrokwah as the Deputy Director General of CID of the Ghana Police service.
DCOP Abrokwa was the Ashanti Regional Police Commander and he failed at his duty several time.
The recent one which saw his transfer to the headquarters in Accra has to do with the chaos in the Council of State election.
Mr. IGP, We Are not dictating to you how to do your job but with this little revelation, do you think it’s worth it to leave the whole CID department under the watch of DCOP Frank Abrokwah as deputy director when he could not be effective even as Regional commander?
Remember when he fails his job, the blame will be on you as the IGP and head of the Police service.
We are alerting you of his incompetence before his inefficiency brings you disgrace as the IGP”. – Kevin Taylor stated.
Pope Francis will be discharged from Rome’s Gemelli hospital on Sunday and will need at least two months of rest at the Vatican, doctors treating him have said.
The 88-year-old was admitted to the hospital on 14 February with a severe respiratory infection that resulted in double pneumonia.
During the past five weeks, he presented “two very critical episodes” where his “life was in danger”, Dr Sergio Alfieri, one of the doctors treating the Pope, said.
Pope Francis was never intubated and always remained alert and oriented, Dr Alfieri said. The Pope is not completely healed, but no longer has pneumonia and is now in a stable condition, according to his doctors.
“Today we are happy to say that tomorrow he will be at home,” Dr Alfieri told reporters on Saturday.
The Pope will offer a blessing from his window at the Gemelli hospital on Sunday – the first time he will appear in public since he was admitted to hospital – before returning to his residence at the Vatican.
Dr Alfieri said that patients with double pneumonia lose their voice a little and “especially in the elderly, it will take time for your voice to return to normal”.
On Friday, Cardinal Victor Fernandez had said “high-flow oxygen dries everything out” and as a result the Pope “needs to relearn how to speak”, Reuters had reported.
If the trend of improvement continues, doctors said, the Pope would be able to return to work as soon as possible.
The Vatican had said on Friday that the Pope had seen some improvements in his breathing and mobility.
It had confirmed he no longer uses mechanical ventilation for breathing at night, but was instead receiving oxygen via a small tube under his nose. During the day, he is using less high-flow oxygen.
The Pope has only been seen by the public once since he was admitted to hospital, in a photograph released by the Vatican last week, which showed him praying in a hospital chapel.
Earlier this month, an audio recording of Pope Francis speaking in his native Spanish was played in St Peter’s Square in Vatican City.
His voice was breathless as he thanked the Catholic faithful for their prayers.
Pope Francis has spent nearly 12 years as leader of the Roman Catholic Church.
He has suffered a number of health issues throughout his life, including having part of one of his lungs removed at age 21, making him more prone to infections.

Convenor of the Media Coalition Against Illegal Mining, Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey
Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, the Media Coalition against Illegal Mining convener, has called for stiffer punishment, including a jail term, for foreigners who engage in illegal mining, also known as “galamsey.”
He said deporting such persons was not deterrent enough and only weakened the fight against illegal mining.
Speaking on a private television station on Saturday, Dr. Ashigbey stressed the need for key actors, particularly financiers of the operation, to be identified and arrested.
He insisted that a state of emergency be declared in areas affected by illegal mining as part of the government’s effort to end the menace.
He said such a declaration would provide more impetus to stakeholders charged with tackling the canker.
“We still demand the imposition of a state of emergency in the illegal mining fight. We also need to put in place a system where we can track all active excavators in Ghana,” he said.
Dr. Ashigbey called for a complete repeal of the Legislative Instrument (L.I. 2462), which permitted mining in forest reserves, and disagreed with the government’s attempt to review the LI.
Mr. Daryl Bosu, the Deputy Director of A-Rocha Ghana, called for a complete overhaul of the mining licensing regime to help sanitize the mining sector.
He said the current licensing regime was responsible for the situation the country was grappling with and called for the removal of the current boss of the Minerals Commission as part of the “cleansing exercise.”
“If the ministry has come out to say, ‘Look, we are revoking all licenses that were issued after December 7 because of procedural irregularities,’ the question you ask yourself is: Who gave out those concessions? How were they given? And if you listen, it says that they were rushed through the processes,” he said.
“So, who supervised that? We have already had issues, seriously, over the years as to who supervised all these messy licenses that have been given out. We’ve had licenses going over major rivers in this country; we’ve had licenses overlapping with forest reserves in this country. How is it possible that the person who supervises and gives out these concessions is still in post?” he quizzed.
Mr. Martin Kpebu, a private legal practitioner, also advocated the reshuffling of police command heads, especially those within identified illegal mining zones, to boost the fight.
Such a move would remove the familiarity between the illegal miners and the commanders within those areas and bring a renewed commitment to the fight.
Mr. Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, attributed the difficulty in eradicating the menace to the economic benefits that accrued from it.
To tackle the canker, he proposed an alternative livelihood for persons who engaged in the act.
Dr. Toni Aubynn (M) with the Western Regional House of Chiefs
Traditional leaders in Ghana’s Western Region have pledged their full support for Dr. Toni Aubynn, CEO of the Petroleum Hub Development Corporation (PHDC), as he spearheads efforts to realise the ambitious Petroleum Hub Project.
The chiefs expressed optimism about the project’s potential to drive economic growth, create thousands of jobs, and position Ghana as Africa’s leading petroleum hub upon completion.
During a courtesy call by Dr. Aubynn and his team to the Western Regional House of Chiefs in Sekondi on March 21, 2025, the traditional rulers lauded his extensive expertise in both the mining and petroleum industries.
They acknowledged his track record of leadership and expressed confidence that, under his stewardship, the Petroleum Hub Project would be successfully executed.
“We believe Dr. Aubynn has the right experience and leadership to make this project a reality. His background in both mining and petroleum gives us confidence that he will navigate this initiative effectively,” Nana Kobina Nketia IV, President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs said.
Another chief, Nana Kwesi Agyeman IX, emphasised the project’s benefits for local communities, stating, “This project is not just about oil; it is about development, job creation, and the future of our youth. We, as traditional leaders, stand fully behind Dr. Aubynn and his team.”
Dr. Aubynn, in response, expressed gratitude for the chiefs’ support and reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the Petroleum Hub Project benefits both the region and the nation.
“The endorsement of our traditional leaders is crucial. We are committed to working closely with all stakeholders to make this vision a reality, ensuring that it brings prosperity to the people of Ghana,” he stated.
The Petroleum Hub Project is a key initiative by the Ghanaian government aimed at developing a world-class petroleum and petrochemical industry. Once completed, it is expected to attract significant foreign investment, enhance energy security, and position Ghana as a major player in Africa’s oil and gas sector.

Hearts of Oak have lost back-to-back matches against Bechem United and Dreams
Bibiani Gold Stars will host Hearts of Oak at Dun’s Park on Sunday in a crucial Premier League clash. The home side will be aiming to maintain their grip on the top spot, while Hearts of Oak seek to bounce back from consecutive defeats that have put coach Aboubakar Ouattara under pressure.
Gold Stars come into this fixture with confidence, having beaten Basake Holy Stars last Wednesday. They have been resolute defensively at home, keeping three consecutive clean sheets. In contrast, Hearts of Oak are struggling, losing back-to-back matches against Bechem United and Dreams. Their attack has been blunt in recent away games, failing to score in their last three outings.
The two sides have met six times since May 2022, with each team winning twice and two games ending in draws. Their most recent encounter was in October 2024, when Gold Stars secured a narrow 1-0 victory.
Gold Stars have been one of the most consistent teams this season, winning 11 of their 22 matches, drawing seven, and losing four. They have scored 21 goals while conceding just 12. Hearts of Oak, on the other hand, have 10 wins, six draws, and six defeats, scoring 19 goals and conceding 12.
Gold Stars currently sit at the top of the table with 40 points, while Hearts of Oak are in fifth place with 36 points. A win for Hearts would keep them in the title race, while Gold Stars will look to extend their lead at the summit.
Maame Mercy Amma Mansah Ohenewaa, the late mother of His Lordship Nana Barima Yaw Kodie Oppong, Director of the Ghana School of Law, was laid to rest in a solemn and dignified ceremony at Akyem Oda on Saturday, March 22.
The funeral drew a large gathering of mourners who paid their final respects through heartfelt tributes and reflections on her life and legacy.
The burial service was attended by distinguished guests, including traditional rulers, prominent politicians, members of the judiciary, family members, students of the Ghana School of Law and well-wishers.
Born around 1923 in Akyem Asuboa in the then Gold Coast, Maame Mercy Amma Mansah Ohenewaa was the beloved daughter of Opanin Kwame Botwe, a successful cocoa farmer, and Maame Abena Korang, a dedicated trader and farmer, both of blessed memory.
As a Saturday-born, she was given the traditional female day name, Amma, and as the third of eleven children, she was also named Mansah, signifying her birth order.
Her passing marks the end of a remarkable life, fondly remembered by those whose lives she touched.
Profile of Maame Mercy Amma Mansah Ohenewaa
Raised in a devout Apostolic Christian family, she received the baptismal name Mercy, reflecting the grace and love that would come to define her life.
Auntie Mansah was blessed with ɛfie nyansa (native wisdom), obuo (respect), and anidie (reverence), qualities that radiated from her graceful presence. Her striking beauty was undeniable – she had a slim, delicate figure ‘obi ne ahoma tea”, an ever-smiling round face, and charming dimples that made her uniquely unforgettable.
Despite her many gifts, Auntie Mansahh was not fortunate enough to receive formal Western education. This flows from the fact that education reached the Akyem Kotoku paramountcy late, and even when it arrived in Akyem Oda during the 1910s-1920s, it took years to spread to nearby villages like Asuboa.
Nevertheless, like many young girls of her generation, she received a rich indigenous education. From a tender age, she learned household chores, etiquette, cultural traditions, and farming – skills that prepared her for life’s responsibilities.
Young Mansah diligently assisted her parents on the farm throughout her childhood, and upon reaching adulthood, after a brief sojourn in Akyem Oda, she relocated to Akyem Ntronang, where she embarked on a journey as a trader, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and resilience. Known for her sharp mind and practical outlook on life, Auntie Mansah abandoned petty trading early on and pursued an apprenticeship as a seamstress.
After all, as the saying goes, Emmrɛ daneɛ na wonso wo adane wo ho bi – “When situations change, you must also change to fit in.”
After completing her apprenticeship, she opened her own seamstress shop in town and took up farming alongside her craft. Her mastery of the famed “Singer” sewing machine, effortlessly spinning the handle to produce exquisite, fashion-forward designs, catapulted her to “Edith Head” in the community. Beloved by many in the community, Auntie Mansah’s warmth and skill left an indelible mark on those around her. Among her cherished friends was Maame Abena Adusa, who has since passed away but remains fondly remembered in the stories of their shared moments.
In the course of her seamstress-cum-agribusiness life, Auntie Mansah met and fell in love with Opanin Yaw Oppong (now deceased), a dashing and ambitious young Agricultural Extension Officer with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), who hailed from Akyem Oda.
The two lovebirds quickly tied the knot, honoring Akan customary marriage traditions with joyful celebrations. Their union blossomed, and they were blessed with six children: three (3) boys and three (3) girls.
As her family grew, Auntie Mansah’s entrepreneurial spirit burned even brighter. She diversified her business ventures by stepping into bread-making – a decision that skyrocketed her popularity. Her renowned brand of tea bread became the most coveted in town, with people traveling from surrounding communities just to get a taste.
Over decades as a veteran baker, Auntie Mansah’s home transformed into a haven for the needy.
Many hungry souls found solace in her kindness, as she never turned anyone away, offering bread to those who knocked on her door regardless of their ethnicity or religion. She became a true matriarch, a beacon of generosity whose compassion stretched beyond her immediate family.
Her children, the lucky firsthand beneficiaries of her breadmaking mastery, eagerly devoured her hot, oven-fresh bread. They paired it with their beloved Tea Mpapa – a thick, milk-rich tea made of her favourite Bournvita or Milo, they perfected over time.
Awww, Sewaa Mansah, wo na na woyɛ anufo kɛseɛ mbofra ɛtwa ho ahyia, “Aww, Auntie Mansah, you were the big breast that children surround to suckle.” Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and an unyielding commitment to nurturing everyone around her.
Maame Mansah understood the transformative power of education. Though she never had the opportunity to receive formal schooling herself, she emerged as a beacon of hope and enlightenment in her community, championing the cause of education for her children, grandchildren and even some of the great grand children. She spared no effort in providing the necessary support – both material and emotional – to help them reach their highest potential.
Her visionary dedication bore remarkable fruit, most notably in the achievements of Nana Barima Yaw Kodie Oppong, who is the Manwerehene of the Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, the Director of Legal Education and Director of the Ghana School of Law, and, above all, a Justice of the Court of Appeal.
Auntie Mansah’s life was deeply rooted in her unwavering faith in the Almighty Jehovah. A devout Christian, she was a staunch member of Apostle Newman Peter Anim’s Christ Apostolic Church International (CACI). She never compromised her commitment to church activities, attending every service without fail.
Although she was baptized as a child in the Church of Pentecost at Akyem Asuboa, she transitioned to the Christ Apostolic Church International after resettling in Akyem Ntronang. Her faith was palpable – she was often seen, lantern in hand, making her way to morning devotions and evening services.
Maame Mansah firmly believed in the boundless power of God and ensured her entire household grew up steeped in Christian teachings and values. Her guiding scripture was Proverbs 22:6: “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
For her, morality was non-negotiable – she nurtured not just her family but the entire community, leaving an enduring legacy of kindness, faith, and an unrelenting belief in the value of raising children in a Godly manner.
Auntie Mansah was known for her unwavering firmness, her devotion to truth, and her tireless efforts to maintain peace and unity within her family.
She was a natural peacemaker, always striving to mend broken ties and strengthen familial bonds. Even on her sickbed during a family visit, she called her younger brother, Mr. Isaac Kwadwo Ameyaw, and urged him to trace all family members and do everything in his power to unite them. Yet, as death is an inevitable passage of life, Auntie Mansah took her last breath on 23rd December 2025, after a short illness.
This was after all that was humanly possible was done to prolong her days on earth. Of her six beloved children, two (2) predeceased her.

Former Chief Executive of AngloGold Ashanti, Sir Sam Jonah, has emphasized the importance of long-term thinking and short-term action for business success in today’s global economy.
Speaking at the Gold Coast University Leadership Conversation in Accra on Saturday, March 22, Sir Sam Jonah highlighted that successful global companies have thrived by adopting this approach, allowing them to expand and grow rapidly.
“Look at where you want to take the business in the long term, and let all your decisions and actions be guided by that, by using all the tools available to get there,” he advised.
The event, themed “Pioneering Leadership: Navigating Ghana’s Economic and Business Transformation,” brought together students, academics, and business leaders. The Gold Coast Leadership Conversation is a premier leadership development series organized by the University of Gold Coast.
Sir Sam Jonah, pointed to Huawei and other global firms as examples of businesses that have successfully adopted a long-term vision while taking short-term actions to drive growth and expansion.
“It has gotten a lot of businesses the needed results when it comes to implementing it right and religiously.
“Most businesses that have tried to ignore this have struggled to sustain the business going forward,” he stated.
Tamale, March 22, GNA – President John Mahama on Saturday announced that the government would pay the teacher and nursing trainees’ allowances through the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD).
He said by this, the allowances would be paid regularly to the students just like how the CAGD paid salaries to government workers.
He said this was to eliminate the delays associated with the payment of the allowances to the beneficiary students.
President Mahama made the announcement when he addressed a durbar at the Jubilee Park in Tamale as part of his “Thank You Tour” of the Northern Region following his victory at the Presidential Elections in December.
President Mahama, earlier in the day, paid a courtesy call on Ya-Na Abukari II, Overlord of Dagbon at the Gbewaa Palace as part of his Thank You Tour of the region.
The President mentioned some of the activities lined up in the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of the government saying resources had been allocated to provide free sanitary pads for girls in schools to ensure they remained in school during their menstrual periods.
He gave assurance of completing the Eastern Corridor Road amongst others to improve transportation in the country.
He expressed gratitude to the people of the region for overwhelmingly endorsing the National Democratic Congress during the Presidential and Parliamentary Elections in December.
Mr Ali Adolf John, Northern Regional Minister appealed to the President to consider establishing a military barracks at Yendi to amongst others address the recurrent conflicts experienced along the Eastern Corridor of the country.
Kofi Adomah’s condition has reportedly been labelled as propaganda by Dormaahene (R)
Ghanaian journalist Afia Pokuaa has issued a distressing update on the condition of her colleague, Kofi Adomah Nwanwanii, who has been battling a serious eye injury.
In a Facebook post on March 22, 2025, the female journalist disclosed that Adomah has been battling suicidal ideation since Friday night over the description of his issue as propaganda by Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II.
“Kofi Adomah has become suicidal since last night after hearing you describe his shooting as PROPAGANDA,” she wrote.
According to Afia Pokuaa, also known as Vim Lady, who is currently based in the United States, it has taken her constant phone interaction with her colleague to calm the situation while his family is searching for emergency drugs to alleviate his plight.
“I had to stay on the phone with him throughout the night and this morning to calm him down. He is so broken and currently in excruciating PAIN that family members are now roaming the streets of Tema and Accra to get emergency drugs for him as we speak, else there will be a crisis. How can seven surgeries be PROPAGANDA?” she questioned.
She disclosed that Adomah, who is battling blindness, is scheduled for another surgery and thus called on the Dormaahene to apologize before something unfortunate happens.
“…your son is GOING BLIND, your son ohh! He has to be FLOWN OUTSIDE in the next few weeks for the 8th SURGERY.
“We beg you, God forbid, but Nana, please, please don’t wait for…” she added.
Adomah sustained a serious eye injury on January 15, 2025, while covering the Kwafie Festival and the 25th anniversary of the Dormaahene’s enstoolment in Dormaa Ahenkro, Bono Region.
Initial reports suggested the injury resulted from gunpowder residue or pellets during a traditional musketry display, but his wife, Miracle Adomah, later clarified that an individual deliberately shot him in the face.
The incident led to partial vision loss in one eye, multiple surgeries in Dubai, and an ongoing recovery process supported by donations and a GoFundMe campaign aiming for €50,000.
Amid reports of Kofi Adomah’s struggles, the Dormaahene, who has been at the receiving end of backlash for allegedly neglecting him, had been silent on the matter until recently, when he stated that the journalist was being exploited as a “propaganda machine” by unnamed parties.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, has called for increased transparency in national security operations, arguing that the excessive secrecy is contrary to democratic principles.
He said this on TV3’s KeyPoints on March 22.
“I agree that the days when national security operators acted and everything was shrouded in secrecy, and they are not supposed to be disclosing certain things, runs contrary to the democratic principles of transparency,” Prof Gyampo stated.
The Coalition of Muslim Organisations Ghana (COMOG) has expressed its support for the government’s decision to add additional holidays for Muslims in the country.
This follows an announcement by Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed, declaring Monday, March 31, and Tuesday, April 1, 2025, as public holidays in Ghana. The move fulfils the President’s pledge to the Muslim community to extend the holiday period for celebrating their religious festivities.
In a statement issued on Saturday, March 22, the Minister explained that the additional holiday is in recognition of Eid-ul-Fitr, which falls on Sunday, March 30, 2025. He urged the public to observe the holidays accordingly, as declared through an Executive Instrument (E.I.).
Reacting to the announcement, COMOG spokesperson Mohammed Shaibu Shamsu told Channel One News’ Umaru Sanda Amadu that the additional holiday comes as a great relief to the Muslim community.
He noted that many Muslims had previously struggled with having only one day to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr and praised the government for addressing the concern.
“It’s very welcoming news, COMOG has waged a crusade on many issues that have some negative telling on the Muslim community in Ghana.
“If today, the issue of holidays for our Muslim community and Islam in Ghana is now two days for the Eid-ul-Fitr, it is indeed a welcoming news. Many more is expected of the government. And we want to commend the government for speedily coming out with this particular law and operationalising it and making sure that in this very year, Muslims are going to enjoy two holidays.”
The decision has been widely welcomed by the Muslim community across the country.

The Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has debunked claims that he approved some procurement deals worth $1.7 million.
According to him, no procurement contract has been signed or approved by him or his office.
He wrote on X page on March 22, 2025: “My attention has been drawn to yet another baseless and misleading claim circulating about an alleged $1.7 million single-source procurement contract approved by me. This claim is completely false and should be disregarded.

The minister emphasised his resolve to ensure fiscal discipline and expenditure rationalisation.
“My focus remains on ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsible economic management in the best interest of Ghana,” he said.
In a similar statement, the Public Procurement Authority debunked the claims, adding that no approval has been made.
It said the Ministry of Finance has granted no single source approvals for the engagement of Osrec Limited with respect to the implementation of Middleware and Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition with a data warehouse.

Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Haruna Mohammed, has explained that former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, was referred to the party’s disciplinary committee not for defending herself but for making statements that violated the party’s constitutional rights.
Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday, March 22, Haruna Mohammed stressed the importance of handling internal party matters discreetly.
“As a party, you need to have intelligence in the sense that you need to be able to predict what happens. You need to understand that people’s sentiments might get out of hand, and you need to have caution.
“That is why the General Secretary issued a directive to all party members, including himself, to refrain not just from discussing but from engaging in any media discussions on certain internal matters,” he stated.
His remarks follow the NPP’s decision to refer Adwoa Safo to its National Disciplinary Committee over her public comments on the party’s performance in the 2024 elections.
In response, Adwoa Safo rejected the referral, arguing that the directive preventing members from discussing internal matters publicly was unconstitutional and infringed on her right to free speech.
Haruna Mohammed, however, maintained that while she had the right to defend herself, her statements must be made with caution.

Former Ghana coach, Kwasi Appiah’s Sudan’s remarkable run in the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers continued on Saturday evening as they held tournament favourites Senegal to a hard-fought 0-0 draw in Benghazi, Libya.
The result keeps Sudan unbeaten and top of Group B with 11 points from five matches—two clear of Senegal and one ahead of DR Congo, who are second in the group.
For the Lions of Teranga, the draw adds further pressure ahead of their clash with Togo on Tuesday.
Despite their superior experience and firepower, Senegal struggled to break down a disciplined and resilient Sudanese side that has become the group’s surprise package.
The 2021 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations champions nearly made a perfect start when a mistake from Sudan goalkeeper Mohamed Mustafa in the opening minute gifted an opportunity, only for him to recover in time.
The Lions dominated possession throughout, but Sudan looked the more dangerous on the counter.
The best chance of the first half arguably fell to Sudan, as a forward skipped past Edouard Mendy in the 20th minute but fired wide with the goal gaping.
At the other end, Senegal wasted a one-on-one opportunity and missed another close-range chance just before the break.
Sudan came out with renewed confidence in the second half. Just three minutes after the restart, Mendy was called into action again—parrying a long-range effort before smothering the rebound under pressure.
Sudan’s penalty appeals were waved away after their attacker went down in the box following the follow-up.
Senegal’s golden moment came in the 54th minute when Sadio Mané acrobatically connected with a loose ball in the box, only to send his overhead kick over the bar with the Sudanese keeper beaten.
Walieldin Khidir missed a glorious chance to win it for Sudan in the 76th minute, scuffing wide from inside the area. Mané again threatened at the other end four minutes later, but his shot was cleared off the line.
Despite late pressure, neither side could find a winner, and the spoils were shared in a pulsating encounter that showcased Sudan’s tactical discipline and Senegal’s growing frustration.
With this result, Sudan continue to dream of a first-ever World Cup appearance, while Senegal face an uphill battle to reclaim the group’s top spot. The next round of fixtures on Tuesday could prove decisive.

Ghanaian Afro-Spiritual artiste Enam Keteku Angela, widely known as Enam, has called on her fellow musicians to prioritise their cultural heritage over imitating foreign styles in their music.
In an interview with Graphic Showbiz, Enam expressed concern about the growing trend of Ghanaian artists, especially emerging ones, replicating Western influences rather than crafting original Ghanaian sounds.
“As a nation, we can only thrive and surpass existing standards by promoting authenticity in our creative industry. We must represent Ghana with genuinely Ghanaian creations. We can never be more American than Americans. While we can mimic them, we can never truly become them,” she said.
As a passionate advocate for Afro-Spiritual music, Enam also called for greater recognition and support for the genre.
According to her, it carries a profound spiritual force that connects people to their ancestors and has the potential to resonate with global audiences.
“I founded Afro-Spiritual, a music style inspired by an ancient genre from the Hadzivodushis of the Yahweh Shrine,” she explained.
She described spiritual and ancestral music as an art form deeply rooted in history and human experience, with the power to evoke the struggles and resilience of the past.
“The spirits behind pure Ghanaian sounds are magical. These are the wailing souls of those who endured slavery, torment, and abuse. They sang through tears and sweat as their blood filled the oceans and rivers they crossed. They imprinted these sounds in the realms, making them eternal,” she said.
“When we invoke them through their sounds, they hear us and respond. The atumpan, fontomfrom, gongon, konga, bells, horns, shakers, and chachas—we don’t realize what we’re missing,” she added.
Enam described spiritual and ancestral music as a divine calling that cannot be ignored. “It’s a purpose that must be fulfilled, and nothing can stop it, not even me. I’ve tried. Imagine being guided by the spirits of sound, losing the desire to compete or imitate what’s considered normal. You find yourself transcending the ordinary, bringing depth to what seems shallow.”
“It’s more than just creating spiritual music; it’s about receiving cosmic sounds and messages from sacred realms. These are gifts from spirit guides that make life more meaningful and purposeful,” she shared.
Beyond her studio work, Enam has gained a reputation for her electrifying live performances, earning spots on prestigious stages across Ghana.
She highlighted some of her notable performances, including the opening and grand finals of 2024 Ghana’s Most Beautiful, the 2024 3Music Awards, Detty Rave 2024 with Smallgod, and Black Sherif’s Zama Disco show.

Renowned Ghanaian poet, writer, and art collector, Abena Pokua Adompim Busia, has shared a fascinating and deeply personal story about how her poetry first saw the light of publication, thanks to legendary Nigerian novelist and poet, Chinua Achebe.
In an interview on The Chat on Channel One TV, the former diplomat recounted how an unexpected encounter at an art exhibition in Manhattan, New York, led to a conversation that would shape the trajectory of her literary career.
According to Abena Busia, Achebe—one of Africa’s most celebrated literary figures—was the first person to formally publish her poetry.
Abena Busia recalled that she had attended a friend’s art exhibition in Manhattan, hoping to appreciate the artwork and perhaps find a piece she could take home.
However, what she didn’t anticipate was meeting one of the greatest writers of the African literary canon—Chinua Achebe—whose seminal works, including Things Fall Apart, had shaped African storytelling for generations.
“I went to my friend’s art show in Manhattan and a lot of amazing things happened that day. I was looking at a wonderful lithograph when this familiar voice came and spoke over my shoulder and the voice was Chinua Achebe and it is the day I met him who was the first person to publish my poetry.
“He asked for it that day. We had a conversation and he asked me to send him my poetry that day and I met him looking at the first art piece I ever bought. I really couldn’t afford that piece but I really wanted it and it was $250 and this was 40 years ago.”

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has officially taken over the direct disbursement of allowances for nursing and teacher trainees across Ghana.
The announcement was made during the President’s “Thank You Tour” in Tamale on Saturday, March 22, where he engaged with students, professionals, and community leaders to outline key policy measures aimed at improving the livelihoods of Ghanaians.
President Mahama said the decision is aimed at addressing the long-standing concerns over the delayed payment of allowances.
For years, nursing and teacher trainees in Ghana have faced persistent challenges with the disbursement of their monthly allowances.
Many have complained about delays that often span several months, making it difficult for them to cater for their basic needs, including transportation, feeding, and study materials.
Recognising the impact of these delays on trainees’ welfare and their ability to focus on their education, President Mahama indicated that this new measure would bring an end to the inconsistencies in allowance payments.
“There is good news for teacher and nursing trainees. Nursing and teacher trainees allowances are to be paid directly by the Controller and Accountant-General.
“This has been made a part of the compensations item in the budget and this will permanently eliminate the delay in trainees receiving their allowances. This means that anytime public sector workers receive their monthly salaries, teacher and nursing trainees will also receive their allowances.”
This policy shift will come as a relief to thousands of trainees who, for years, have had to endure uncertainty regarding the exact dates of their stipend payments.

The former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison with hard labor after being found guilty of causing financial loss to the state.
Her conviction comes alongside that of the former Chief Operating Officer, Daniel Axim, who received a five-year sentence. These judgments conclude a trial that commenced in 2019.
Both individuals were charged with 78 counts, including theft, conspiracy to steal, and money laundering, as well as breaches of public procurement laws.
These offenses occurred during their tenure at MASLOC from 2013 to 2016, during which they misappropriated substantial funds.
Notable examples include the unaccounted GH₵500,000 withdrawn from Obaatampa Savings and Loans and GH₵1.7 million earmarked for a sensitization project, much of which was embezzled.
Funds meant for fire victims in Kantamanso, totaling GH₵1.4 million, were also significantly misused.
The court case highlighted further irregularities, such as overpayments for the bulk purchase of vehicles and Samsung phones for MASLOC, with costs exceeding market rates.
Despite seeking medical leave abroad during the trial, Sedina Tamakloe Attionu absconded and was tried in absentia.
This judgment reinforces the imperative of accountability in public service and serves as a stern warning against financial misconduct.
The conviction and sentencing signify Ghana’s resolute stance against corruption and its effort to preserve public resources.
By holding public officials accountable, this case sets a precedent for zero tolerance towards the misuse of state funds. It sends a message to officials entrusted with public resources to act with integrity and responsibility.
Kofi Adomah has reportedly undergone 8 eye surgeries following his injury
Ghanaian journalist Afia Pokuaa has issued a distressing update on the condition of her colleague, Kofi Adomah Nwanwanii, who has been battling a serious eye injury.
In a Facebook post on March 22, 2025, the female journalist disclosed that Adomah has been battling suicidal ideation since Friday night over the description of his issue as propaganda by Dormaahene, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II.

Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Ofosu Kwakye
The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of committing serious “economic atrocities” during their eight years in power.
He said the previous administration engaged in reckless financial decisions, including the incurring of “needless judgment debts” that have left the current government under financial stress.
Speaking during the ongoing budget debate in Parliament, Kwakye Ofosu dismissed the opposition’s claim that the current budget had made excessive allocations to the Office of the President.
He clarified that the GH¢2.7 billion allocated to the Office of Government Machinery was primarily for compensation, covering salaries for civil servants.
He explained that under the current administration, the Office of Government Machinery now includes 30 agencies from the previous government.
Additionally, he said, the collapse of seven ministries by President John Mahama has resulted in over 11,600 civil servants being added to the payroll.
He emphasised that while critics claim the budget is bloated, there has actually been a cut of GH¢419 million in goods and services and capital expenditure for the Office of Government Machinery compared to 2024.
Kwakye Ofosu also refuted claims that his office had been allocated GH¢78 million for personal use.
He clarified that the amount was meant for the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, the Information Services Department, and the Ghana News Agency, which collectively have 2,537 staff.
According to him, this allocation is insufficient, considering that the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation alone requires GH¢36 million to establish a presence in the six new regions.
He further disputed claims that under the previous administration, the Ministry of Information was given only GH¢10 million, stating that in 2024, the ministry actually received GH¢262 million.
Additionally, he pointed out that the NPP government had a significantly larger communication team at the presidency, with 28 personnel, while the current administration has only seven handling government communications.
Adding to the debate, the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, declared that the economy was now in safe hands and that the government was committed to restoring financial stability.
He assured Parliament that the current administration would work diligently to put Ghana back on the right track.
However, the MP for Akuapem North, Samuel Awuku, strongly disagreed, describing the claims of economic mismanagement as “not factual.”
He argued that when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) left power, they among others, handed over 6.1 billion dollars in import cover, whereas the NPP left 8.9 billion dollars.
“You cannot accuse the NPP of mismanaging the economy for eight years,” he stated.

The Coordinator of Eco-Conscious Citizens, Awula Serwah, has expressed disappointment over the government’s decision to amend, rather than revoke, Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2462, which permits mining in Ghana’s forest reserves.
She recalled that while in opposition, President John Mahama had pledged to revoke L.I. 2462 entirely, recognizing the devastating impact of mining on the country’s forests and water bodies.
“We believe the minister means well, but we are greatly disappointed. When His Excellency, the President, was in opposition, he clearly stated that he would revoke L.I. 2462. He was fully aware that certain companies had already made investments, yet he prioritized the greater good of Ghanaians and the protection of our forests.
“Now, instead of revocation, we are hearing about amendments, which still allow mining in forest reserves,” she said.
Madam Serwah criticized the L.I. for weakening previous protections, noting that under the old law, mining in production forest reserves was restricted to just 2% of the land. However, L.I. 2462 has removed that limitation, giving mining companies near-unrestricted access to these ecosystems.
“This is a very bad law. It was passed without proper consultation—clandestinely. If someone says they would put their presidency on the line, yet things only get worse, then we must ask: What real difference does this amendment make compared to a full revocation?” she questioned.
The Lands Minister has defended the L.I., arguing that it grants environmental officers the authority to assess and prevent illegal mining. However, Serwah dismissed this justification, insisting that existing forestry laws already mandate the protection of Ghana’s forests.
“We are being misled. The L.I. 2462 is not what ensures protection. The Forestry Commission already has a duty to safeguard our forests. Revoking this law would not remove environmental officers’ ability to do their jobs—it would reinforce the need for stricter enforcement,” she asserted.
Renowned Ghanaian writer, poet, and former diplomat, Abena Pokua Adompim Busia, has opened up about the profound influence her father, Kofi Abrefa Busia, had on her passion for poetry.
She revealed that her childhood was steeped in literature, as poetry anthologies were a common sight in their home, nurturing her deep appreciation for the art of words.
Speaking on The Chat on Channel One TV on Saturday, March 22, Abena Busia reflected on how her father, a former Prime Minister of Ghana and an intellectual giant, cultivated an environment that encouraged a love for poetry and literature among his children.
She narrated that it was a household tradition for her and her siblings to read, memorise, and recite poems—a practice that left an indelible mark on her creative journey.
Her father’s insistence on this literary practice made poetry an integral part of her upbringing, shaping her artistic sensibilities and developing her ability to appreciate rhythm, structure, and the power of language from an early age.
“We grew up in a household that appreciated the arts. We grew up listening to the King James version of the Bible. One of the first things our father did was to buy a whole bunch of poetry anthologies and said to us to choose any poem and recite it to him after every Sunday dinner.
“And so we all grew up reading and reciting poetry, singing Methodist hymns without appreciation of the written and spoken word. And then we went to a little English country village school where we had this crazy man for a headmaster who will also read us stories at the end of every school day.”

The Minister of Education, Mr Haruna Iddrisu, has emphasized the government’s commitment to granting the management and councils of public universities the autonomy to operate independently.
He highlighted that the government values academic freedom highly and views any external interference in university affairs as a threat to this freedom.
The Minister made this statement in a speech delivered on his behalf at the Second Session of the Third Congregation of the University of Media, Arts, and Communication (UniMAC) in Accra on Friday, March 21, 2025.
The event saw the University confer a Master of Philosophies (Mphil) and Master of Arts (MA) degree on 205 students; comprising 116 females and 89 males.
“I want to assure you that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, supported by his Vice President, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, a former vice-chancellor herself, and a highly experienced academic, is firmly committed to empowering university councils and management to perform their statutory duties without interference,” he said.
Mr Iddrisu also expressed government’s commitment to empowering academic boards and management of the various public universities to enable them to perform their duties legitimately.
He, however, warned that the Ministry would not hesitate to hold them accountable for non-performance or illegitimate actions.
He mentioned that the government attached high importance to research functions because they were critical for the country’s development and promised to operationalise the Ghana National Research Fund Act (Act 1056).
Passed by Parliament in 2020, the Act is designed to provide sustainable financial support for research activities in universities and research institutions.
The Minister hinted of plans were far advanced to have it operationalised to support research activities in the various universities.
“Management structures are being put in place with seed money from GETFund to ensure that the national research fund becomes operational this year,” he said.
The Minister commended the Management of UniMAC for its commitment to upholding excellence and for incorporating research as a key area of study.
He assured the Management of UniMAC of government’s continued support to enable it to train professionals capable of competing both locally and internationally with their peers.
Prof. Eric Opoku Mensah, the Vice-Chancellor, UniMAC, said as an institution, it remained committed to equipping graduates with the skills necessary for the 21st century economy.
“Moreover, our alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) reinforces our commitment to quality education (SDG 4), gender equality (SDG 5), industry innovation (SDG 9), and reduced inequalities (SDG 10),” he said.
“Through research, policy advocacy, and academic excellence, we remain steadfast in shaping a future where education is the bridge to prosperity,” he added.
Prof Mensah stressed the need for infrastructural expansion, improved student welfare, and enhanced faculty development, appealing to the government to provide support to the school to enable it to achieve that objective.
He urged the graduands to be resilient, adapt to the ever-changing job market and continue to learn to make the impact they desired.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, a Development Communication postgraduate student, Mr James Amoh Junior, described the academic journey as both “transformative and enlightening.”
He said the course provided a deeper understanding of the intersection between communication and sustainable development, equipping students with the tools to drive social change through strategic messaging and storytelling.
“This experience has reshaped the way I approach journalism and communication. It has deepened my commitment to using my platform not just to inform, but to influence policies and empower communities,” he said.

Residents of Gomoa Fetteh, a farming community in the Awutu Senya District of the Central Region have accused Gomoa Ojobi District Police Commander, Deputy Suprenterdent of Police (DSP), Mr Samuel Asante for allegedly meddling himself in protracted chieftaincy and land disputes in Gomoa Fetteh enclave.
The distraught residents called on the current Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno to, immediately tranfer him for his continuous unprofessional conducts which had led to the attacks to the people in Gomoa Fetteh by armed violent thugs.
According to them, they have been hrown into a state of fear and panic due to the severe havocs being caused to some valuable properties make up of canopies, plastic chairs, tables, sound systems and food items by some hired armed landguards/ violent thugs.
The landguards numbering about forty (40) who were under security protection of some police officers from Ojobi District Police Command of Ghana Police Service were reported to have been holding offensive weapons including cutlasses, knives, guns, hammers, metals and sticks before they had stormed various homes of Gomoa Fetteh to cause the mayhem.
The heartbreaking incident which occurred on Friday March 21, 2025 forced some people living in Gomoa Fetteh to flee their homes of the town to seek refuge in neighboring communities within Ghana for the safety of their lives.
According to the residents, some landguards with the security protection by the police officers from the Gomoa Ojobi District Police Command led by Commander, Ojobi District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr. Samuel Asante have stormed Gomoa Fetteh on Friday March 21,2015.
They mentioned that the violent thugs ransacked the mounted canopies, plastic chairs, tables, cooking intensils and food items bought to organise a funeral rite of a prominent elder of Gomoa Fetteh, Rev. Odartey Lamptey, popularly known as Odartey Senya.
They complained that the actions of the hired landguards and a team of the police officers have prevented the elders of Gomoa Fetteh Abor Twidan Royal family to hold a funeral ceremony for the late Rev.Odartey Lamptey.
They accused the Gomoa Ojobi District Police Commander for allegedly giving supports to some unaccredited elders to attack the members of Gomoa Fetteh Abor Twidan Royal family, calling on the current Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohuno to, immediately tranfer him for his continuous wrongdoings.
They reiterated that the Friday March 21,2015 incident were the secord severed attacks being meted to the members/people of Gomoa Fetteh Abor Twidan Royal family.
They lamented that over the past years, Gomoa Fetteh people including the elders of Gomoa Fetteh Abor Twidan Royal family have never seen peace due to chieftaincy dispute and land guard activities engineered by one Kwesi Alhaji, Kofi Baah and Kweku Dadzie.
“As we speak, these thugs are still recklessly riding motor bikes with their guns in their hands sounding warning shoot and stuff in the whole town.
“Gomoa Fetteh has been a branch way so these land guards hide there to commit all manner of crimes and nobody seems to care, but we promise leaders of Ghana that a time is coming we will take care of ourselves in our own way,” he stated.
What irritates the people of Gomoa Fetteh is that, the local police whom get paid with their tax and for that matter are suppose to be neutral in protecting lives and properties, they have rather connived with the thugs, molesting and assaulting innocent natives.
Fuming with anger, they further accused the Ojobi District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr. Samuel Asante for allegedly making himself a kingmaker in Gomoa Fetteh.
They alleged the senior police officer determines who is a chief of Gomoa Fetteh and who is not, adding that the senior police officer for supporting these people thereby coaching them as to how to operate without a trace.
On account of that, they stated that whenever a complaint is lodged against these Kwesi Alhaji, Mr Kofi Baah, Kweku Dadzie or any of their cahoots, DSP Samuel Asante will rubbish the case and “if you request for extract too, this man goes angry and threatens with arrest for no reason.
According to them, there was a funeral service in the Abor Twidan Royal family a few months ago where these thugs with offensive weapons suddenly rushed on the innocent people and started vandalizing and ravaging the whole place including canopies, chairs, sound systems and even assaulted the people at the funeral in presence of this Ojobi District commander.
Prior to the incident, they indicated that a complaint had been lodged by the Ebusuapanyin, Nana Kwame Ewudzi because of the earlier threats by these gang but up to date there has been nothing like arrest.
On Friday March 21, 2025, they reiterated that this same incident occured when the same elders of Abor Twidan Royal family had mounted canopies and arranged chairs pending a Royal member, Rev Odartey Lamptey who is deceased to be brought from the mortuary for funeral service and burial.
They revealed that when earlier report was made at Ojobi District Police Command to avoid their usual attack, DSP Samuel Asante categorically put it to the complaints that Kofi Baah who calls himself Nana Abor Atta II is Paramount Chief of Gomoa Fetteh he (DSP Samuel Asante) listens to “so if they have anything to say, they should go and sit with him since he (Kofi Baah) is the chief of Gomoa Fetteh.”
The senior police officer, according to them, went ahead to warm the elders of Gomoa Fetteh Abor Twidan Royal family that if they don’t obey Kofi Baah and go ahead with the funeral service and anything happens to them, it is their own problem because he would pretends as if he was sick and put off his phone and leave them to their fate.
“What is very shocking here that it is bad for the whole Police Commander to make such unguided and unprofessional statement. This is very annoying and disgusting because our former head of Abor Twidan Royal family was shot dead, and since his gruesome murder, the police are telling us that upon their investigations they didn’t know what happened before he was shot dead.
“What can we do as a family and now the whole Gomoa Ojobi District Police Commander is telling us that if there is a likelihood the same things happen and that he, the senior police officer who is mandatory to protect lives and properties is telling our elders that he will off his personal phone to protend like he is not available.
“So is it good way the whole police Commander to talk to civilians,” the residents of Gomoa Fetteh stated and called on the current Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno to, immediately reshuffle DSP Samuel Asante,” they appealed.
They stated that they are expecting that the current Inspector General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, who was sworn in on March 14, 2025, would listen to “our advise to reshuffle Gomoa Ojobi District Police Commander for the peace to prevail in the area.
“We therefore plead with the IGP to see to it that this DSP Samuel Asante is been interrogated and brought to book, and also deal with this Kwesi Alhaji and his landguard issues in Gomoa Fetteh before it escalates to something else some day,” they further stressed.
However when contacted via telephone call to get his side of the story, DSP Samuel Asante denied assigning policemen from Ojobi District Police Commander to provide security protection to the landguards to cause to rhe people and properties in the area.
He further refuted allegations that he meddled in chieftaincy and land disputes in the area, saying these allegations were calculated attempt to tarnish his hard won reputation.
He stated tha;”It is not true that l am making myself a kingmaker in Gomoa Fetteh. I didn’t determine who is a chief of Gomoa Fetteh and who is not.”
“It is not true that whenever a complaint is lodged against Kwesi Alhaji, Mr Kofi Baah, Kweku Dadzie or any of their cahoots, l will rubbish the case and “if you request for extract too, l would go angry and threatens with arrest for no reason,” he stated.
He stated that when the news reached him that some thugs have stormed the Gomoa Fetteh on Friday March 21, 2015 to cause mayhem, he quickly deployed Police patrol team from Kasoa Police Station to the Gomoa Fetteh.
According to him, the police officers reported back to him that they had not met any thug or see any property vandalised by the thugs in the area.
“So in the afternoon, l received another call again that there is trouble in the area following the move by the elders of Gomoa Fetteh Abor Twidan Royal family to bring a team of soldiers to protect them to organise the funeral for the late Rev. Odartey Lamptey and that l have personally went to the town but couldn’t see any soldier in the area. And that it is not l am not supporting some elders to attack members of Gomoa Fetteh Abor Twidan,” the senior police officer told the journalist.
He stated categorically that when the issue of misunderstanding between the funeral committee of Gomoa Fetteh and members of Abor Twidan Royal family had been brought to his office he invited the two factions and try his possible best to resolve the matter.
He noted that during the meeting it was stated that the Gomoa Fetteh township had a funeral committee who are opposing the date fixed by the members of the Gomoa Fetteh Abor Twidan Royal family to hold the funeral of the late Odartey Lamptey.

(L-R) Gabriella Tetteh, Hannah Serwaa Tetteh, and Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui
Ghana has seen several political dynasties that have played key roles in shaping the governments that have ruled the country over the decades.
The country has witnessed the influence of the Ahwoi brothers, Kwesi Ahwoi and Kwamena Ahwoi, who played significant roles in the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC)/National Democratic Congress (NDC) governments from the 1980s to the early 2000s.
Kwesi Ahwoi served as Minister for the Interior and Minister of Food and Agriculture, while Kwamena Ahwoi held positions such as Minister of Planning and Regional Economic Cooperation and Integration, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister for Local Government and Rural Development.
Similarly, Ghana saw the Kufuor brothers, John Agyekum Kufuor and Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor. John Agyekum Kufuor served as a Member of Parliament, Deputy Minister, Minister, and ultimately as the President of Ghana.
His brother, Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor, also served as a Member of Parliament for Manhyia, as well as Minister of the Interior and Minister for Defence.
More recently, the Jinapor brothers, Samuel Abu Jinapor and John Jinapor, have made their mark in both the NDC and the NPP.
Samuel, a member of the NPP, has been the Member of Parliament for Damongo since 2020 and has served as Deputy Chief of Staff, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, and in various acting ministerial roles under the NPP.
His brother, John Jinapor, a member of the NDC, is the Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu and Ghana’s current Minister of Energy and Green Transition. He previously served as a Deputy Minister of Energy.
From these examples, a clear pattern emerges; political dynasties in Ghana have predominantly been male-led brothers.
But guess what? Ghana also has a female political dynasty; the Tetteh sisters: Hannah Serwaa Tetteh, Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui, and Gabriella Tetteh.
These three sisters, all members of the NDC, are making their mark on Ghana’s political landscape, just like their male counterparts.

Hannah Tetteh, an internationally acclaimed diplomat, holds a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) degree from the University of Ghana. She also attended the Ghana School of Law, where she became a Barrister-at-Law.
Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui
Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui is Ghana’s Deputy Minister of Works, Housing, and Water Resources.

Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, Minister of the Interior
Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, Minister of the Interior, is set to appear before Parliament to provide details on the alleged search warrant executed at the residence of Dr. Ernest Addison, a former Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
This follows an alleged raid on Dr. Addison’s Roman Ridge home on Wednesday, March 19 by heavily armed National Security operatives, which has raised concerns about due process and the motives behind the operation.
Members of Parliament (MPs), particularly from the New Patriotic Party Minority Caucus, have called for full disclosure on the legality and justification for the raid, insisting that Parliament must hold the government accountable for the actions of security agencies.
The Interior minister is expected to clarify the basis for the search warrant and the allegations leading to the operation.
However, Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga has defended the operation, saying it was not a raid but rather a properly executed search warrant carried out in accordance with the law. “Mr. Speaker, law enforcement officers lawfully went there to conduct a search, and it is perfectly lawful. And so, using the word raid is clearly wrong,” he said.
Meanwhile, a new date for the Minister’s appearance is yet to be announced, after Ayariga revealed that the Interior minister will not be available on Tuesday, March 25.
The Interior Minister’s appearance before Parliament is expected to provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the alleged raid.
According to the reports armed men, approximately 20 in number, allegedly led by Mr. Richard Jakpa, Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, raided the private residence of the former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Addison, on Wednesday, March 19.
Eyewitness accounts indicated that the heavily armed officers allegedly disabled the Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system before searching the house.
Reports indicated that the heavily armed men, some allegedly wearing balaclavas and wielding AK-47 semi-automatic rifles, demanded that Dr. Addison led them to the “vaults” in his house.
However, Dr. Addison allegedly informed them that he had no vaults or cache of cash at home. Despite this, the security personnel allegedly ransacked the house, disabling the CCTV system beforehand.
According to eyewitnesses, no vaults were found, and no large amounts of cash were discovered.
The security personnel eventually left allegedly with the CCTV monitor and control unit.
Dr. Addison, his wife, and their family are reportedly traumatised following the raid.

While music star Cina Soul wants a fun partner for marriage, she has said she would prefer someone from outside the entertainment world.
She spoke on Joy Prime’s Prime Morning while promoting her debut album titled Did I Lie?
To explain her preference, Cina Soul said she wanted to vicariously experience a different world through her partner rather than discuss entertainment issues, which she was already accustomed to.
“I feel like artiste-to-artiste relationships can be complicated. They could work for some people, but for me, I want someone with a different story. I want us to come back home and talk about things like, ‘How was the hospital? Oh, how was court? How was the bank?’ Not every day, ‘Okay, the studio,’ where we’ll just talk about the same thing. So, I just want something different,” the soul and highlife singer said.
The slender beauty noted that contrary to what some might imagine, marriage to someone outside the creative arts would not be mundane.
“I don’t think it will be boring. You’ll have so many stories. I think he’ll say things like, ‘This person did this, and then I saved a life.’ I feel it will be very interesting,” the Ojorley hitmaker emphasized.
The crash happened between 1900 hours and 2000 hours on Tuesday, March 18, 2025
Three people are in critical condition after an articulator truck crashed head-on with a Jeep 4×4 vehicle on the Berekum-Sampa Road in the Bono Region.
The Ghana News Agency (GNA) gathered that the victims, who have yet to be identified, were admitted to the Berekum Holy Family Hospital.
The crash happened between 1900 hours and 2000 hours on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, when the driver of the articulator truck, with registration number BA 1818-15, loaded with cashew nuts and travelling to Sampa, attempted to drive behind a faulty tipper truck parked in the middle of the road.
In the process, the truck collided head-on with the Land Rover vehicle with registration GR 9547-14, which was coming from the opposite direction, Abdul Rahman Fuseini, the truck driver’s mate, told the GNA.
Mr. Joseph Nkrumah, the Berekum branch secretary of the Cargo Union branch of the Progressive Transport Owners Association of Ghana, told the GNA that the road had since been cleared to facilitate the movement of vehicles.
