Apostle Francis Amoako Attah has explained what he termed as the spiritual act of the glamorous 40th birthday party organised by Ghanaian billionaire Richard Nii-Armah Quaye at the Independence Square, Accra on March 22, 2025,
Sharing his thoughts on the development, Apostle Francis Amoako Attah, in a video shared on Instagram on March 25, 2025, stated that it is not just a celebration but a symbol of God blessing the youth with breakthroughs in wealth.
He explained that, unlike the past when Ghanaians typically became wealthy only in their old age, God has now shortened the years required to acquire wealth to 40 years and below.
“God is telling us that if a 40-year-old guy is a billionaire in Ghana then it means every Ghanaian can become a billionaire at the age of 40.
“It also means God has reduced the years a Ghanaian would become a billionaire to the age of 40. Also, a Ghanaian at 25 years old can become a millionaire. History will continue to repeat itself,” he stated.
Reflecting on the glitz and glamour of the event, he mentioned that he would have broadcasted it on national television if his father were the president of Ghana.
Apostle Amoako Attah also explained that while some Ghanaians are indicating that Richard Nii-Armah Quaye organised the birthday party to flaunt his wealth, he thinks otherwise.
“The birthday party organised by the young man at Independence Square has never happened in Ghana before. You may think that is a show off but that isn’t the case. If my father was the president of Ghana, I would have televised the event on national television,” he said.
Touted as the biggest party in Ghana currently, Richard Nii-Armah Quaye’s 40th birthday party has since been discussed widely in the country and beyond.
There were performances from some of the continent’s biggest stars, a display of wealth, luxury cars, and four distinct sections at Independence Square that hosted 2,000 guests.

Former Director General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahene
On Monday, March 24, 2025, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine at a press conference made some damning allegations against Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB).
Kwabena Adu-Boahene is said to have diverted and embezzled up to GH¢39 million from the bureau, leading to his arrest and detention.
According to the Attorney General, he allegedly diverted public funds meant for a cybersecurity defence system.
He gave the details as follows: “GH¢39,462,480 went into Adu-Boahene and his wife’s pockets from one transaction. We are still tracking suspect Adu-Boahene, his wife, and their assets. In the coming days, we will file the necessary charges against them.”.
“In his capacity as Director General of the National Signals Bureau, Mr. Adu-Boahene on January 30, 2020, signed a contract on behalf of the Government of Ghana and the National Security on one hand and on the other hand, an Israeli company named RLC Holdings Limited. The contract was for the purchase of a cyber defence system software at a price of $7 million,” the Attorney General said.
Providing further details, Dr. Ayine disclosed that just days after signing the agreement, Adu Boahene initiated a suspicious transaction.
“On February 6, 2020, he then transferred an initial amount of GH¢27,100,000 from the National Signals Bureau account at Fidelity Bank to a private BNC account at UMB. Official documentation on the transfer reveals that the amount was for the payment of cyber defence system software. He transferred the money to his private company,” he told the media.
According to Dr Ayine, investigations further uncovered that the former NSB boss allegedly funnelled the funds not only into his personal account but also into accounts belonging to his wife.

Education credentials
According to the National Communications Authority, Kwabena Adu-Boahene holds a Master of Science Degree in Information Systems Management from the University of Liverpool, UK, where he studied Security Engineering, Digital Communications and Networks, Computer Forensics, Information Systems Project Management, Systems Analysis and Design using an Object-Oriented Approach and Managing Organisational Resources.
He also holds a Master’s degree in Peace, Security and Intelligence Management from the University of Professional Studies and Administration, Ghana, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana.
Prior to becoming Director General, Adu-Boahene served as Deputy Director of the NSB, as well as worked in various capacities including Head of Core Network, Planning and IT, and Head of Network Operations. He was previously Head of Information Systems Support Services with Atkins Global PLC, and a Lead Support Engineer with Assured Systems Limited, both in the UK.
As a National Lead in the provision of timely signals intelligence to counter threats to security and national well-being, Adu-Boahene has also managed the deployment of integrated secure communications networks throughout the country for national security, emergency preparedness and emergency response, including the key communications infrastructure that has underpinned Ghana’s General Elections since 2008.

Kwabena Adu-Boahene is reportedly a deacon at the Assemblies of God Church Ghana, Cedar Mountain, located in Accra.
Amid the unfolding controversy, videos have emerged of him delivering sermons to congregants. Within the church, he is said to hold the title of “Chief Rabbi Deacon.”

Kwabena Adu-Boahene is allegedly the owner of Glofert, a multimillion-dollar company and one of the biggest fertilizer companies in West Africa.
According to Asaase Radio online, the entity has loans from banks including ECOWAS Development Bank which it services diligently.
The media outlet added that Glofert did many businesses with COCOBOD when Dr. Stephen Opuni was the Chief Executive Officer of the entity. He and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, own several other successful businesses in and outside Ghana.
He is also said to have owned businesses long before 2017.

The Public Utilities Workers Union (PUWU) has called for clarity from the government following the reported reversal of John Ayiku Ocansey’s appointment as Acting Deputy Managing Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
The demand comes after conflicting communications from ECG and the Ministry of Energy left the union questioning the decision-making process.
On March 17, 2025, a letter from ECG announced Ayiku Ocansey as the new Acting Deputy Managing Director, a move initially welcomed by ECG workers.
However, a subsequent statement from Energy Minister John Jinapor on March 18 declared that the earlier letter had been issued inadvertently and was withdrawn, effectively nullifying the appointment.
PUWU General Secretary Timothy Nyame, in an interview with Citi News, expressed the union’s confusion and frustration over the sudden reversal.
“We find it strange that one person’s appointment can be reversed by another,” Nyame said. He emphasized that Ayiku Ocansey, an ECG staff member, was set to assume his role on March 24, following what the union believed was a legitimate appointment by the President.
“It can only come from His Excellency, the appointing authority, to revoke an appointment he has made,” Nyame added, noting that the letter reversing the appointment was not signed by the President or the Chief of Staff.
Nyame questioned the basis for the withdrawal, stating, “We don’t believe his appointment has been reversed.”
He further asserted that the union had not opposed the appointment and saw no reason for it to be rescinded.
“We will demand answers as to why his appointment is being reversed,” he insisted.
Until his appointment, John Ayiku Ocansey was the HR Manager for ECG’s Accra East Region. He holds a BSc in Social Sciences from the University of Ghana, an MSc in Governance and Development from the University of Cape Coast, and an LLB from Mountcrest University College.

The former president of the Federation International Football Association (FIFA), Sepp Blatter, and the former President of UEFA, Michel Platini, have been cleared of any wrongdoing for the second time in court.
This follows allegations of their involvement in fraud, forgery, mismanagement, and the misappropriation of more than £1.55 million of FIFA money in 2011, which was allegedly paid by Blatter to Platini.
Despite these accusations, both were acquitted of financial wrongdoing in July 2022 before facing another trial in Switzerland in 2025, where they have again been cleared.
The charges, which included fraud, forgery, misappropriation of funds, and mismanagement, were dismissed by three federal judges.
However, the Attorney General’s Office in Switzerland challenged their acquittal, instead pushing for 20-month sentences, suspended for two years.
Blatter and Platini were once again acquitted on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, of all charges.
The scandal ended Platini’s hopes of succeeding Blatter as the president of FIFA, a position for which he had been heavily favored.
Both he and Blatter were suspended from football activities in 2015.

CEO Kallie Kriel thanks Trump for ‘taking note of the irresponsible calls for violence.
US President Donald Trump has lashed out again at South Africa, this time about EFF leader Julius Malema’s ‘Kill the Boer’ chant.
This comes after South African-born CEO of Space X and Tesla, Elon Musk, shared a post on his platform X about a “major political party that was actively promoting white genocide” in the country.
“Very few people know that there is a major political party in South Africa that is actively promoting white genocide. The video [of Malema chanting ‘Kill the Boer’] was just [recent]. A whole arena chanting about killing white people.”
Thanking Trump
Trump then took to his Truth Social platform, where he posted a screenshot of Musk’s tweet on the matter.
The US president’s post ignited a spark of enthusiasm from AfriForum CEO Kallie Kriel, who thanked Trump for his support.
“Thank you, President Donald Trump, for taking note of the irresponsible calls for violence against Afrikaners/whites—through hate chants such as “Kill the Boer, kill the farmer”—in South Africa. The tragic irony is that the latest incident occurred on March 21, which is officially known as “Human Rights Day” in South Africa.
“What makes this even worse is that this renewed call for violence against Afrikaners was not condemned by President Ramaphosa, ANC leaders, or the South African Government. Their silence regarding this gross human rights violation is deafening,” Kriel posted on X in response to Trump’s post.
‘No genocide in SA’
Last month, Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader Gayton McKenzie said he and Kriel agreed that there is no white genocide in South Africa.
“So you are saying there is no white genocide in South Africa?” McKenzie asked.
“No, we’ve never said that, but there is a serious problem,” Kriel replied.
However, McKenzie pushed Kriel for clarity.
“Of course, there is a problem; people being killed on their farms is a problem, but you’re saying there’s no white genocide?” McKenzie asked Kriel again.
“Genocide is what we saw in Rwanda,” Kriel said.
‘Kill the Boer’
In 2024, The Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) dismissed, with costs, AfriForum’s appeal against the court ruling that the EFF singing the “Kill the Boer” song was not hate speech.
The SCA ruling emanated from a judgment by the Equality Court in Johannesburg in August 2020, where Judge Edwin Molahlehi ordered that the “Kill the Boer” song does not constitute hate speech after AfriForum’s witnesses and its deputy CEO Ernst Roets failed to link the song to an allegation that it incited a genocide of white farmers.
AfriForum also pointed to a single occasion when former EFF MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi chanted a similar song, including the words: ‘Shisa lamabhunu, EFF ingen’endaweni’ (Shisa lamabhunu). The literal English translation of that chant was: ‘Burn these Boers, EFF enters in the space or place’.
The court held that what Malema was doing was no more than exercising his right to freedom of expression.
In 2022, the Pretoria High Court dismissed AfriForum’s hate speech case against the EFF over the party’s use of the struggle song, Dubul’ Ibhunu, which translates to “Shoot the Boer”.

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Johnson Asiama has called on members of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) to make its decisions on outcomes of policies more transparent and accessible to earn trust especially from the public.
Dr. Asiamah who chaired his first monetary policy since assumption of office yesterday said making its decisions transparent will reduce the growing sense in public commentary that MPC decisions are taken behind closed doors without clear, data-driven reasoning.
“To counter this, I am proposing that we implement mechanisms to make the Committee’s decision factors more accessible, whether through publicly publishing voting outcomes or enhancing the narrative content of our policy statements”.
That in his view, will strengthen the banks credibility and deepen trust in the policy framework while it works to simplify the way forecasts are presented to the public to enable market participants understand the underlying policy story better.
The governor also said though the external environment is currently supportive, it is still becoming increasingly volatile with a strong trade surplus and solid reserve build-up on the back of gold exports and remittance flows.
He said that a possible escalation in global tariff wars, rising geopolitical tensions, and weakening Chinese demand could quickly shift the dynamics which could also have spillover effects on inflation, capital flows, and exchange rate stability.
“Domestically, the 2024 fiscal outturn was expansionary, with the deficit exceeding programme targets. We have seen encouraging signs of consolidation early in 2025, but questions remain as to whether current measures are adequate to anchor expectations and satisfy upcoming IMF program reviews,” he added.
He further stated that some of the challenges facing the financial sector stem from earlier monetary and fiscal policy missteps particularly, loose fiscal policy during periods of macro stress, weak monetary fiscal coordination and delays in key structural reforms.
According to Dr. Asiamah, though the challenges further contributed to elevated inflation, impaired policy transmission, and a loss of credibility, he asked the committee to desist from assigning blame and ‘reflect on issues that will strengthen institutions in order to avoid repeating past mistakes.
“I trust that our discussions will be candid, evidence-based, and guided by our shared mandate of maintaining price stability and supporting sustainable growth,” he added.
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has refuted claims that it has frozen the financial accounts of Richard Nii Armah Quaye, the businessman and Chairman of the Micro Credit firm, BILLS.
The GRA’s denial comes on the back of many news reports that have suggested otherwise.
The reports suggested that Quaye’s accounts had been restricted, but the GRA clarified that such actions are part of a routine procedure to assess tax payments and ensure compliance.
According to the GRA, the assessment is a standard part of their audit process, aimed at verifying tax compliance among businesses and high-net-worth individuals.
Sources within the GRA confirmed that discussions are ongoing with Mr. Quaye regarding his tax obligations, with efforts focused on ensuring that all necessary payments are made.
The authority emphasized that these assessments are periodic and often carried out for individuals and companies with a history of compliance.
Following the audit, Quaye will be expected to settle any outstanding tax obligations, including duties on imported goods, as advised by the GRA.
A source within the GRA explained to Joy Business: “This is a routine exercise aimed at fostering a cooperative relationship between the GRA and taxpayers as part of efforts to increase tax revenue this year.”

Former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), Solomon Asamoah, has denied allegations by Attorney-General Dr Dominic Ayine that he is evading investigations by hiding in Senegal.
In a statement issued on Monday, March 24, 2025, Mr Asamoah described the claims as “entirely inaccurate and untrue,” clarifying that his departure from Ghana on March 21 was for pre-scheduled corporate board meetings, not to avoid legal scrutiny.
“I categorically deny the false and incorrect allegations that I have gone into hiding in Senegal. This claim is entirely inaccurate and untrue,” he stated.
He further explained that he had spent February and March in Ghana without being contacted by any authorities regarding an investigation.
However, a day after his departure, on March 22, an official from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) reached out via WhatsApp requesting an online meeting.
“As a demonstration of my commitment to transparency, I agreed to hold a meeting on Wednesday, March 26, at 4pm to address any concerns,” he added.
Mr Asamoah, a key figure in the ongoing Sky Train Scandal, also defended his tenure as GIIF CEO, stating that under his leadership, the fund’s capital grew from GH₵1.2 billion to GH₵5.2 billion, with cumulative net profits exceeding GH₵2.5 billion by the end of 2023.
Asserting his innocence, he stated, “I have not committed any wrongdoing and absolutely have no reason to run away from justice.”
He assured his full cooperation with authorities and expressed his willingness to return to Ghana to assist the Attorney-General’s investigations, adding that he is confident the process will vindicate his reputation and integrity.

Stakeholders have been urged to support the youth to acquire skills to achieve their aspirations in life rather than acts that have the tendency to lead them to perpetuate violence.
Greater Accra Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mawuli Agbenu, made the call in an interview with journalists during an engagement with the youth at a forum organised by the European Partnership for Democracy in collaboration with the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in Accra.
The meeting which brought together about 200 youth groups, assembly members and representatives of various state institutions forms part of efforts to encourage the youth to participate actively in local governance and community development.
Mr. Agbenu said the youth have great potential and energy which they could direct towards fulfilling their goals in life should they have the right guidance.
He said the various forms of post-election violence recorded recently due to misinformation and disinformation could have been averted if the youth were adequately engaged.
He, therefore, called on the leadership of various institutions to continuously engage the youth while urging the young adults to seek for assistance whenever they are confronted with difficulties in life.
He also emphasised that though the government is expected to provide opportunities for the youth to develop themselves, it is also important for them to equally perform their civic responsibilities.
He further stated that NCCE will continue to educate and engage the youth on their rights and responsibilities as well as the need for them to work hard towards achieving their aspirations in life.
Apart from engaging the youth groups in Okaikwei North, Ashiedu Keteke, Ablekuma North, Weija Gbawe, Osu Klottey among others, the team will also engage some students in selected tertiary institutions, women groups and deprived communities on their role in local governance.

According to the Deputy Attorney General, Kwabena Adu Boahene and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng have been granted bail but are yet to fulfil their bail conditions.
Accra, March 24, GNA – Dr. Ahmed Qinan Lukeman, a Physician Specialist, revealed that 10 per cent of the global population and 13 per cent of Ghana’s population suffer from chronic kidney disease.
He noted that many cannot afford dialysis, resulting in loss of life.
A statement copied to Ghana News Agency said Dr. Lukeman, of the Ghana Armed Forces Critical Care and Emergency Hospital (GAFCCEH), made these remarks during a free kidney screening and medical check-up at the 37 Lorry Station for drivers and the public.
The screening, held on March 14, 2025, was organized by GAFCCEH and Ghana National Gas Company Limited as part of the 2025 World Kidney Day celebrations under the theme: “Are Your Kidneys OK? Detect Early, Protect Kidney Health.”
Dr. Lukeman stressed the importance of protecting kidney health by maintaining regular exercise, staying hydrated, and eating a balanced diet.
He noted that overuse of painkillers, smoking, alcohol consumption, hypertension, and diabetes are major contributors to kidney disorders.
Mr. Bright Ohene Okyere, Community Relations CSR Officer of Ghana National Gas Company, said the partnership with GAFCCEH aligned with his organisation’s Corporate Social Responsibility, particularly accessible healthcare.
He noted that the collaboration would strengthen advocacy for kidney care.

Former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Thomas Oppong-Peprah
The former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, has retired from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) successfully with an outstanding 39 years of devoted service.
General Oppong-Peprah was the Director of Strategic Intelligence of the Defense Intelligence Department, General Headquarters, before rising through the ranks to become CDS.
In addition, he served as Director of Army Training, Director of Army Peacekeeping Operations, and Director of Operations and Plans in the Defense Industries Department.
The departing CDS was honored with a farewell march during a pulling-out ceremony on March 24, 2025. at the Burma Camp in Accra as he handed over command to Major General William Agyapong, the new CDS.
All of the security service leaders were present, including the recently appointed Inspector General of Police, COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno; and the Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Chief Fire Officer Patience Baffoe-Bonnie.
General Oppong-Peprah stated in his speech that the service went through a lot of obstacle and trials during his tenure as the CDS, but they always came out stronger and more unified because of their tenacity and fortitude.
“We have navigated complex security landscapes, both domestically and regionally, we have worked tirelessly to enhance our capabilities, strengthen our partnerships and ensure the safety and security of our citizens.
“Our performances in the recent general election were exemplary, showcasing our commitment to democracy and the rule of law,” he said.
The appointment of the first female force commander and head of mission of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force, together with the purchase of the largest ship, were among the noteworthy accomplishments he said the Ghana Armed Forces had undergone during his leadership.
General Oppong-Peprah listed the National Defense University’s presidential charter, which gave it autonomy and the ability to give degrees and diplomas, as one of the numerous accomplishments under his direction.
“I am, therefore, grateful to the governments of the United States of America, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Denmark, China, Austria, South Africa, and Nigeria,” he added.
Richard Nii Armah Quaye, founder of Bills Micro-Credit
The Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC) has frozen all company accounts linked to Bills Micro-Credit.
The action was taken in accordance with Section 56(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2020 (Act 1044).
Fresh details indicate that the personal accounts of the company’s Founder, Richard Nii Armah Quaye, and CEO, Romeo-Richlove Kweku Seshie, have also been frozen.
In a confidential letter, the directive was issued on March 21, 2025, and took immediate effect, pending further directives and information gathering.
This development follows confirmation by the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) on Monday, March 24, 2025 that Richard Nii Armah Quaye is undergoing a personal income tax assessment.
The assessment pertains to outstanding personal income tax exceeding GHS 30 million, which remains unpaid.
The action forms part of routine regulatory oversight to ensure the entrepreneur complies with his tax obligations.
GhanaWeb Business has also learned that an import duty of GH¢11.4 million was previously levied on one of his vehicles, a matter that has since been resolved.
The tax assessment follows Quaye’s widely publicised 40th birthday celebration, which gained significant traction on social media.
It remains unclear whether the decision to investigate him was made before or after the lavish event.
Recently, Bills Micro-Credit Limited distanced its business operations from the personal financial dealings of its Board Chairman, Richard Nii Armah Quaye.
The company emphasized that it operates as an independent legal entity and does not finance or support Mr. Quaye’s private purchases or events.
Furthermore, the statement clarified that Richard Nii Armah Quaye does not hold the position of CEO at Bills Micro-Credit Limited.

Pitch invader ( a white headband) was arrested at Accra Sports Stadium
A Ghanaian football fan who invaded the pitch during the Black Stars’ match against Chad has been sentenced to 100 days in prison by the Accra District Court.
The fan, identified as Mohammed Huzeinu, was handed the sentence after the Ghana Football Association (GFA) took legal action against him for the offence.
In a statement released on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, the GFA expressed concern that the incident could result in a fine from international football authorities.
The Ghana football governing body revealed that they have already paid a total of $30,000 in fines due to two previous pitch invasions in Cape Coast and Kumasi.
Pitch invasion is widely considered a serious security breach and often carries criminal charges.
Huzeinu breached security protocols and stormed the pitch during Ghana’s 5-0 victory over Chad on Friday, March 21, 2025.
He ran onto the field and hugged Antoine Semenyo before security personnel intervened and escorted him off the pitch.

Huzeinu’s actions disrupted the game, an offense that has potential financial consequences for the Association (GFA), as the Association is likely to be fined whenever such incidents occur.
Pitch invasions are considered a serious breach of security and disrupt the smooth running of games.
The GFA paid $10,000 when a fan invaded the pitch in Cape Coast and another $20,000 when another fan invaded the pitch at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, totaling $30,000 in cost to the Association, and to the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The sentencing serves as a strong warning to fans to respect stadium regulations and maintain order during matches.
The FA has consistently urged fans to refrain from such actions, emphasising the importance of discipline and adherence to match-day protocols to avoid fines and maintain Ghana’s reputation in international football.

Mfundo Manci pleaded guilty to multiple charges on behalf of himself and his company.
A 33-year-old cryptocurrency fraudster has been sentenced to ten years for defrauding and misleading clients by promising high returns.
Mfundo Manci appeared in the Durban Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Tuesday, where the sentence was handed down.
Crypto fraudster plea
He pleaded guilty under section 105 of the Criminal Procedure Act, as part of a plea and sentence agreement for himself and his company, Crypto Mzansi Group (PTY) LTD. He admitted to several charges, including fraud, violations of the Banks Act, the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, and the Prevention of Organised Crime Act.
Manci committed the Cryptocurrency crimes between June 2020 and April 2021.
Natasha Ramkisson-Kara, spokesperson for the National Prosecution Authority (NPA), stated that as part of Manci’s plea and sentencing agreement, all fraud counts against him were consolidated for sentencing and will run concurrently.
Online trader
According to the NPA, Manci was an online trader who bought cryptocurrency and, at some point, started an investment scheme with short-term and long-term promotions promising high returns.
He managed to enlist the assistance of two women he knew and introduced them to the online trading business.
Manci told them that he wanted them to promote his investment business and informed them that if they referred a client for investment, they would receive a commission. Manci then registered Crypto Mzansi Group (PTY) LTD and opened accounts with various banks.
The two women who were unaware of the scheme recruited investors. Manci also recruited some investors who communicated with him directly.
While some investors did receive profits from their investments, they were paid with other investors’ money. Manci did not invest the monies received and only traded for himself.
Assets forfeited
Ramkisson-Kara said Manci then flew to Cape Town on a business trip and was unreachable to his family and the investors. This caused his family to report him missing. During this time, Manci was spending the investors’ monies, and the investors opened criminal cases against him.
“On 22 August 2022, the Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) of the NPA obtained a preservation order, freezing all Manci’s bank accounts.
“Realising that his funds were dried up and that his accounts were frozen, Manci handed himself over to the authorities in Cape Town, and the case was then transferred to Durban. The AFU order was subsequently finalised, recovering over R4.5 million from Manci,” Ramkisson-Kara said.
Advocate Nhlakanipho Selwyn Mzulwini, representing the state, finalised the criminal matter, and Advocate Sipho Nkosi dealt with the AFU applications.
Ramkisson-Kara said they welcome the successful finalisation of the matter.

Celebrated Ghanaian dancehall musician, Samini, has expressed concerns over the poor remuneration of actors in Ghana’s film industry, stating that the pay structure does not match the effort actors put into their craft.
Speaking on a podcast, the celebrated musician revealed that his personal experiences on movie sets have given him a firsthand understanding of the challenges actors’ face, particularly when it comes to compensation.
While responding to a question about why he hasn’t pursued acting more seriously despite his evident talent, Samini admitted that the industry is too draining, both physically and financially.
“It’s a very, very draining profession to be in,” he noted, emphasising that he holds no disrespect for the film industry but believes actors deserve better.
The dancehall icon, who has graced multiple movie sets in the past, revealed that actors are severely underpaid compared to musicians, despite both being part of the entertainment industry. He illustrated this disparity by comparing performance rates for musicians versus actor fees in 2025.
According to Samini, A-list musicians can command between GH¢150,000 to GH¢250,000 for a full-band live performance. Even lesser-known musicians can earn GH¢15,000 to GH¢20,000 for a 30-minute performance in Accra.
However, when it comes to actors, the situation is vastly different.
Samini disclosed that even A-list actors struggle to secure GH¢10,000 to GH¢25,000 for an entire movie project, which often requires them to dedicate up to three weeks of their time on set.
“Some of the big names are able to push for maybe GH¢20,000 to GH¢25,000, but that even depends on who is hiring them,” he explained.
Meanwhile, lesser-known actors are paid as little as GH¢2,000 for weeks of work, a stark contrast to a musician earning GH¢15,000 for just three songs. “It’s crazy, and something has to be done about it,” he stated passionately.
He proposed that industry players should set a minimum pay structure to ensure that actors are fairly compensated.
He further exemplified that A-list actors for instance, should not be paid below GH¢50,000 per movie. B-list actors should earn at least GH¢30,000, and no mainstream actor should be paid less than GH¢15,000 for any role.
Samini believes that a structured and fair payment system will ultimately improve the livelihoods of actors and elevate the quality of Ghanaian films.
He urged producers, directors, and industry stakeholders to re-evaluate how they compensate actors.
Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South and Ranking Member on the Defence and Interior Committee, has condemned the actions of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, towards the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at the scene of the fire outbreak at Adum Central Market in Kumasi.
Speaking on Joy News on Tuesday, March 25, Ntim Fordjour described Amoakohene’s conduct as highly unprofessional. He emphasized that the GNFS already operates with limited resources, yet their efforts in extinguishing fires often go unappreciated by the public and politicians.
Instead of acknowledging their challenges, they are met with criticism, which he believes is unfair.
A viral video circulating online captured Dr Amoakohene instructing firefighters to move their fire engines away if they insisted on having a standby tanker supply them with water.
Clarifying the situation, ACFO II Peter Tetteh explained that at the time of the Minister’s remarks, firefighters had temporarily paused operations to allow excavators to create access for more effective firefighting.
Ntim Fordjour further highlighted the struggles the GNFS faces in responding to fire incidents, stressing that despite their efforts, they continue to receive harsh criticism.
“One of the agencies that have been unfairly treated by the public and often misperceived as incompetent, ineffective, and unwilling to help is the Fire Service. These firefighters have been unjustly criticized.
“Whenever there is a fire outbreak, and they arrive at the scene, the first reaction from politicians and victims is to throw tantrums at the personnel, who are already frustrated due to the lack of equipment,” Ntim Fordjour stated.
He elaborated on the logistical challenges faced by the GNFS, explaining that navigating densely populated settlements to access fire sites is often difficult. Additionally, the water capacity of a fire tender is limited, and within five minutes of active firefighting, the supply can be depleted.
“By the nature of the structures in some areas and the volume of water that the tanker carries even when fire tenders arrived at the scene, their water can run out within five minutes of attacking the fire.
“When this happens, it is unfair to throw tantrums at the firefighters, as we saw the Ashanti Regional Minister do. His actions towards the officers were most unprofessional,” he added.
The fire at the Kumasi Central Market destroyed several shops, leaving nine people injured and others in a traumatized state.
The Vice President of Ghana, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has revealed that the Ministry of Defence is grappling with a staggering GHȼ3.7 billion debt, with a significant portion of GHȼ275 million owed to food suppliers.
This startling disclosure was made during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed members of the Ghana Armed Forces Council on March 24, at the Ministry of Defence.

Sometimes if you think [that] it’s not going to be a hot atmosphere, it’s kind of a trap and you give maybe one or two percent less and for me…we have to be on our toes.”

Ablakwa also used the platform to address concerns arising from social media reports about alleged violence against Africans in Morocco. He reassured the public that the Moroccan Ambassador had firmly denied allegations that 700 Africans had been killed in the country.
“Apparently, the footage in issue is an old 24th June 2022 border incident which led to the tragic, unfortunate, and condemnable loss of 23 lives. That deplorable incident has since been investigated by Moroccan and Spanish authorities,” he clarified.
He further assured that no Ghanaian was affected in the reported incident, urging the public to verify information before spreading misinformation.
Morocco increases scholarships for Ghanaian students
Shifting the focus to education, Ablakwa announced that Morocco had doubled its annual scholarships for Ghanaian students. The scholarship slots will increase from 90 to 180, beginning this year, providing more opportunities for Ghanaian students to pursue higher education in Morocco.
Prior to his meeting with the Moroccan Ambassador, Ablakwa also held discussions with the Russian Ambassador to Ghana, Sergei Berdnikov. Their talks focused on strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between Ghana and Russia.
“Ghana will continue to pursue our longstanding foreign policy of positive neutrality and serve as a credible voice for global peace,” he affirmed in a Facebook post.

The Chairman of the Defense and Interior Committee of Parliament, James Agalga, has criticised former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his decision to promote some military officers to the rank of General before leaving office.
According to Mr. Agalga, the move was unwarranted, as Ghana’s military contingent does not meet the international threshold required for such high-ranking promotions.
Speaking in Parliament on Monday, March 24, Mr. Agalga argued that the former president’s decision to elevate the Service Chiefs to the rank of three-star general and the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) to a four-star general was inconsistent with international military standards.
He stated that Ghana’s military personnel strength is currently around 30,000, which falls far below the 50,000 threshold that typically justifies such promotions.
“Having failed abysmally in expanding the Ghana Armed Forces, Mr. Speaker, the President came and stood before this House in his departing State of the Nation address and announced that he had appointed the Service Chief to the rank of three-star general or its equivalent and the CDS to the rank of a four-star general when the size of our force hovers around 30,000. We haven’t met the threshold of 50,000 to have warranted such a promotion.”

Some workers at the Ghana Deposit Protection Corporation (GDPC) have appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to urgently reconsider the appointment of Mr Galahad Alex Andoh, a former basic school teacher, as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the GDPC.
According to them, the position of CEO for such a critical institution should be given to an individual with strong educational and professional experience in finance and business.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghanaian Times yesterday, one of the workers, who pleaded anonymity, stated that he suspected the appointment was done quietly to prevent public scrutiny.
“This new CEO does not even know how to respond or interact with people via email. It is a worrying situation,” he alleged.
Due to the significance of GDPC in Ghana’s financial sector, he said the former board chair was the then-BoG Governor, Dr Ernest Addison.
This, the worker further underscored the agency’s importance and the need for a qualified leader.
Unlike the former CEO, Mrs Pearl Esua-Mensah, who has a strong background in business and finance, he noted that Mr Andoh’s professional experience was limited to being a teacher and serving as a district coordinator for the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) during President Mahama’s first administration.
He also revealed that the current CEO is also the communication officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency.
“Mrs Esua-Mensah, on the other hand, is a seasoned business leader with decades of experience in finance, banking, and corporate leadership,” he added.
Available information on the official website of the GDPC indicated that before becoming GDPC’s CEO, Mrs Esua-Mensah was the Founder and Managing Consultant of Feniks Limited, a business consulting firm. She also served as Chief Executive of Media General limited and Deputy Managing Director of UT Bank Ghana.
The website also reveals that the previous CEO’s international experience includes roles as Group Financial Accountant for Parity Group PLC and Group Reporting Accountant for Kantar Group in the United Kingdom.
With over 20 years of global experience, Mrs Esua-Mensah has expertise in mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, business reorganisation, strategy development, and operational systems. She holds a BSc in Business Administration from the University of Ghana and an MBA from Manchester Business School. She is also a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA).
The anonymous worker further questioned why the new government appointed someone without financial expertise instead of looking for a competent person, saying, “such positions can be given to people within the NDC who are qualified,” he lamented.
The Ghana Deposit Protection Scheme was established by the Ghana Deposit Protection Act, 2016 (Act 931), as amended by the Ghana Deposit Protection (Amendment) Act, 2018 (Act 968).
The scheme aims to protect small depositors from losses due to bank failures and to ensure a stable financial system in Ghana.
It was conceived based on feasibility studies conducted in 2012 through collaboration between the BoG and the Government of Ghana, with financial and technical assistance from the German Government through KfW, a state-owned development bank.

Surveyor Mallam Issah Ishak is the first Quantity Surveyor to lead the Ghana Highways Authority
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Surveyor Mallam Issah Ishak as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Highways Authority (GHA).
This appointment marks the first time a Quantity Surveyor has been selected to lead the institution since its establishment in 1974.
The Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) has expressed its profound appreciation for the President’s decision, recognising it as a progressive step towards acknowledging the diverse expertise required in Ghana’s road infrastructure sector.
The institution conveyed its gratitude in a formal letter, commending the President’s commitment to broadening the leadership scope within the GHA.
Historically, the CEO position of the GHA has been held primarily by Civil Engineers, despite provisions in the now-repealed Ghana Highway Authority Act, 1997 (Act 540) allowing for professionals with relevant experience in the road industry to be appointed.
The GhIS believes that this new appointment signifies a major shift in leadership selection, emphasising the value of administrative and managerial skills over purely technical backgrounds.
In their letter of appreciation, the GhIS cited a previous precedent in 2001 when former President John Agyekum Kufuor appointed Surv. Alex Twumasi-Boakye, a Quantity Surveyor, as the Director of the Department of Urban Roads.
His outstanding performance later earned him the position of Chief Director at the Ministry of Roads and Highways, where he oversaw major developments in Ghana’s road infrastructure.
The appointment of Surv. Mallam Issah Ishak was also celebrated at the recently concluded 20th Surveyor’s Week and 56th Annual General Meeting in Accra, which was themed “Harnessing and Projecting Surveying Competencies: A Catalyst for National Development and Embracing Emerging Opportunities.”
The event recognised the significance of the appointment as a landmark achievement for the surveying profession in Ghana.
GhIS has since expressed confidence in Surv. Ishak’s ability to bring immense value to the GHA, particularly with his expertise in procurement, value management, cost estimation, project analysis, contract administration, financial reporting, and risk management.
The institution believes his leadership will significantly contribute to the government’s infrastructure agenda, especially in light of the country’s current financial challenges.
GhIS also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the government’s road and infrastructure projects under President Mahama’s leadership.

MultiChoice Ghana (DSTV) has announced a subscription price adjustment effective April 1, 2025, reflecting an average increase of 15 percent across all subscriber packages.
DSTV increased prices twice in 2024, which infuriated subscribers.
CUTS International has raised concerns with the proposed increase, urging DSTV to give fair notice to consumers over its intention to adjust subscription fees and desist from the short notices it gives to its subscribers in Ghana.
“This short notice period may not have given subscribers adequate time to review their options or make necessary adjustments. Respect for consumers is fundamental in any market, particularly where services are paid for in advance and on a recurring basis.

Paul Adom Otchere, the host of Metro TV‘s ‘Good Evening Ghana’ political show has named some former Akufo-Addo-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration appointees on the most wanted list of the John Mahama-led government.
According to Adom Otchere, several people under the former government have been targeted in the coming days by the National Security led by the Director of Operations at the National Security Secretariat, Richard Jakpa.
The Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has announced that 57 radio stations face the risk of frequency suspension for violating regulations.
The Minister says the suspension is intended to provide the media organisations an opportunity to rectify their regulatory breaches before resuming operations.
Addressing journalists on Monday, March 24, Samuel Nartey George stated that three out of the six radio stations that were recently suspended would have their frequencies restored in the coming days.
“The other six stations are a part of a total number of about 63 radio stations whose frequencies are not going to be revoked but are going to be suspended. We suspended the first six because we cannot have a situation where media houses would flout the regulation and say that because of press freedoms, the conditions for their licenses will not be met.
“I will be suspending the licenses, offering them the opportunity to remedy the anomaly in their cases. The six that were affected in the first phase, three of them have indicated to us and brought to the regulator the documentation required for the restoration of their frequencies and I will be authorising the restoration of their frequencies.”

Sean Combs, popularly known as P. Diddy or Puff Daddy
Embattled music mogul, Sean “Diddy” Combs, has pleaded not guilty to the latest indictment accusing him of orchestrating two decades of sex trafficking crimes.
The 55-year-old rapper and producer entered the plea upon returning to federal court in New York City on Friday. Addressing Judge Arun Subramanian, Combs confirmed he had read the indictment and understood the charges against him.
Held without bail since his arrest in September, Combs embraced two of his attorneys upon entering the courtroom. As U.S. marshals led him out, he blew kisses to family members and waved.
Judge Subramanian announced that jury selection will begin at the end of April, with questioning of prospective jurors set for May 5 and opening statements expected on May 12.
According to prosecutors, Combs leveraged his power and influence in the music industry to manipulate, intimidate, and coerce women into sex trafficking, often under the guise of romantic relationships.
The indictment details allegations that he used threats, violence, and financial intimidation to force victims—three of whom are explicitly named—to engage in commercial sex acts.
“On multiple occasions, Combs threw objects and people, struck, dragged, choked, and shoved victims. In one instance, he allegedly dangled a victim over an apartment balcony,” the indictment stated.
His defense team contended that prosecutors have exaggerated or misrepresented consensual encounters.
A key courtroom debate on Friday centered around a widely circulated hotel surveillance video aired by CNN last year, in which Sean “Diddy” Combs is seen striking his former protégé and girlfriend, singer Cassie, before throwing her to the floor.
Prosecutor Mitzi Steiner argued that the footage is “critical to the case,” while Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, called it “deceptive,” claiming the video had been manipulated—sped up in some parts and rearranged to misrepresent events.
Steiner further noted the government’s hesitation to share details about potential accusers with the defense, citing concerns over witness safety.

Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has revealed that Solomon Asamoah, former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF) and a central figure in the ongoing Sky Train Scandal, is currently in Senegal, evading prosecution.
Providing an update on the case, Dr. Ayine disclosed that $2 million was disbursed for the controversial project following a request from Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, then Board Chairman of GIIF, and Solomon Asamoah.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has strongly criticised the Attorney General, Dr Dominic Ayine, over what he perceives as an unjust approach to legal investigations, particularly in the context of the ongoing anti-corruption drive.
He raised concerns that the tactics employed in these investigations are not only unfair but could also be politically motivated, undermining the legal principle of justice.
Speaking on JoyNews AM Show, Mr Assafuah argued that individuals should not be presumed guilty before they have been given a fair opportunity to defend themselves in court.
He referenced Chapter 5 of Ghana’s Constitution, which guarantees the fundamental human rights of every citizen.
“Under the Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, particularly Chapter 5, which outlines the fundamental human rights of individuals, it is unequivocal that no person should be presumed guilty before being given a fair trial,” Mr Assafuah said.
His remarks came in the wake of a media briefing by Dr Ayine regarding the ongoing investigations into the government’s anti-corruption drive and the “Operation Recover All Loot” initiative.
During the briefing, Dr Ayine discussed various corruption cases being investigated, but Mr Assafuah expressed strong reservations about the handling of these cases in the public domain.
He criticised the tendency to publicly label individuals as guilty before they have had the chance to prove their innocence in a court of law.
“You are supposed to be presumed innocent until proven guilty,” Mr Assafuah stated. “But what are we seeing in this country? With what the Attorney General did yesterday [Tuesday], and the tactics being employed by the NDC, individuals are being publicly labelled guilty before they even have the chance to prove their innocence. This is not only unfair, but it is also deeply shameful.”
Mr Assafuah, who says he knows Dr Ayine personally, expressed disappointment with his actions. He suggested that Dr Ayine may be under pressure from his government and political party to use the investigations to damage the reputation of former officials of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
“I know Dr Ayine very well, and this is not the Dr Ayine that I know,” Mr Assafuah remarked. “Go and ask any senior MP, and they will tell you this is not the same person. I believe there is immense pressure on him from his party and government to tarnish the reputation of NPP officials and disgrace the party.”
Further expressing his concerns, Mr Assafuah stated, “I am not sure if he is acting out of his own conviction, but it certainly seems as though external pressures are influencing his actions.”
He concluded by reiterating his belief that justice must be served through proper legal channels, without the interference of political agendas.

Solomon Asamoah is the former CEO of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund
The former CEO of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), Solomon Asamoah, has denied allegations made by the Attorney General, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, that he is evading justice, hiding, and seeking refuge in Senegal.
The Attorney General, at a press conference on March 24, 2025, explained that Solomon Asamoah was hiding in Senegal after playing a role in the controversial $2 million payment for the failed Accra Sky Train project.
According to Dr Ayine, Asamoah, who is wanted for investigations, has been in Senegal since February 2, 2025, after initially traveling to South Africa.
“The CEO is hiding in Senegal. We tracked him first to South Africa, and now he is in Senegal. When we contacted him, he told us he would not return to Ghana until three months from now, and we are patiently waiting for him. If he does not return, he will be tried in absentia,” he said.
However, refuting the claims, Asamoah, in a statement dated March 24, 2025, shared by 3news and sighted by GhanaWeb, described the AG’s remarks as ‘inaccurate and untrue’.
Setting the record straight regarding his whereabouts, Solomon Asamoah confirmed that he is indeed in Senegal, but clarified that his presence there is for scheduled board meetings, which are part of his corporate responsibilities.
He explained that these meetings had been scheduled before the conclusion of his tenure at GIIF and that he traveled out of the country on March 21, 2025.
“I categorically deny the false and incorrect allegations that I have gone into hiding in Senegal. This claim is entirely inaccurate and untrue. In fact, I traveled out of Ghana on Friday 21st March 2025 to attend scheduled board meetings as part of a corporate responsibility that was planned well in advance,” he stated.
Asamoah explained that before his travel to Senegal, he had not received any invitation from the security agencies regarding an investigation into him.
He added that he was only contacted by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) a day after his departure from the country.
“Prior to my departure, I have been present in Ghana for long periods in both February and March. During this period, I was never contacted by any government official in relation to an invitation to assist in any investigation. However, on Saturday 22nd March 2025, a day after departure from Accra, I was indeed contacted via WhatsApp by an official of the National Intelligence Bureau who requested an online meeting with me which we agreed to hold on Wednesday 26th March at 4 pm. This would enable me to respond to any misconceptions and misunderstandings on any substantive matter related to investments by GIIF,” the statement added.
The former government appointee under the Akufo-Addo-led administration reiterated his stance, firmly stating that he had not engaged in any wrongdoing or criminal activity.
He emphasised his commitment to maintaining his integrity and reaffirmed that he was not attempting to evade justice.
“I have not committed any wrongdoing and I absolutely have no reason to run away from justice. I will return home shortly to offer all the assistance and information necessary to support the AG’s investigations which will ultimately vindicate my reputation and integrity,” he added.
The investigations are in connection with a $2 million payment made for a sky train project for the country by the GIIF.
However, the AG disclosed that investigations showed the $2 million payment was made at the request of GIIF’s Board Chairman, Prof. Ameyaw Ekumfi, and Solomon Asamoah without the necessary board approval.
“There was no board approval for the transaction, and the conditions precedent to disbursement had not been met. We tracked the company to Mauritius and a lawyer there has confirmed to us that it does not exist. But that is also a developing story.
“If there is going to be a delay, we will start the prosecution with him being tried in absentia. Prof. Ameyaw Ekumfi, who acted with him to transfer the money, is in the country, and the legal process will proceed,” he affirmed.
Prof Ekumfi has since been questioned by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) and granted bail.

Some Ghanaian netizens have expressed an array of reactions, including shock and surprise, following the release of a list detailing alleged properties and assets acquired by Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Akuritinga Ayine.
This has caused Adu-Boahene to trend on social media, particularly on X, for Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
According to the AG, while speaking at a presser on March 24, 2025, during which he provided updates on the arrest of Kwabena Adu-Boahene and about the investigations made so far into the matter, the suspect allegedly acquired landed properties in Accra and 2 others in London, with some of the properties estimated at millions of US dollars.
Some of the properties include landed properties at Mayfair Estates at LA, Accra; Vertex Properties at Oyarifa Gated Estate Development, among others.
In light of this, some netizens have called for the prosecution of the suspect, expressing outrage over his rapid accumulation of assets within a short period and the alleged embezzlement of state funds during his tenure in office.
