Cristiano Ronaldo has made his debut in the film industry by collaborating with British film producer Matthew Vaughn to create an independent film studio called UR•MARV.
This partnership has already resulted in the production and financing of two action-packed films, with plans for a third installment in the series.
The financial terms of their 50-50 partnership have not been revealed. Their investment coincides with a growing trend of streaming platforms such as Netflix and Disney+ supporting independent filmmakers, providing a global distribution network that can help expand the reach of their films and support the growth of the independent film sector.

Ronaldo expressed his enthusiasm in a statement on Thursday, “This is an exciting chapter for me, as I look ahead to new ventures in business.”
His partner, Vaughn, said, “Cristiano has created stories on the pitch that I could never have written, and I look forward to creating inspiring movies with him – he’s a real-life superhero.”
At the age of 40, Ronaldo has notably broadened his business ventures over the past decade. His investments range from stakes in a hotel chain, a porcelain company, and a media firm in Portugal, to the recent acquisition of a tennis and padel club in Lisbon.
Additionally, Ronaldo has shown interest in owning football clubs after his retirement, further expanding his business ventures.
Ronaldo, currently playing for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr with an estimated annual salary of around US$200 million, continues to excel on the field. However, he has yet to announce when he intends to retire from professional football.
Vaughn, in contrast, has made a name for himself by reinventing action films with his fast-paced, stylish approach and skill in mixing humor with high-stakes drama. He made his directorial debut with the intense crime film Layer Cake (2004) and followed it up with bold, genre-blending hits like Kick-Ass (2010) and X-Men: First Class (2011).
According to Variety, Vaughn’s major breakthrough occurred in 2014 with the debut of the Kingsman series—a high-energy spy saga known for its sleek visuals, witty tone, and explosive action scenes, all produced under his Marv production company. His most recent work, Argylle (2024), is a globe-trotting espionage adventure starring Henry Cavill and Bryce Dallas Howard. With two more Kingsman films on the way, Vaughn shows no signs of slowing down.
