The statement also praised the local community for their role in ensuring security, saying, “Anambra state police command notes the improved security stability in Ihiala and appreciates the good people of Ihiala for their cooperation and resilience in identifying the bad elements in the area.”

According to the police, the arrest took place on April 10, 2025, at 2:53 pm, when operatives detained the four suspects, all male and residents of Okohia, Ihiala.

“The operatives recovered phones and SIM cards used by the suspects to threaten their victims thereby causing panic in the area and jeopardizing the efforts of the security agencies and the general security of the state,” the statement added.

The suspects have reportedly confessed to their involvement in the crime and are currently in custody for further interrogation.

“The state police command remains committed to maintaining public safety and ensuring that individuals are held accountable for actions that incite fear or disturb public peace,” the statement concluded.
