Nigerian Navy personnel have arrested 27 individuals, including 24 men and 3 women, in a significant operation targeting drug trafficking activities in Lagos.
The operation took place after credible intelligence led to a raid on a notorious criminal stronghold in Gidan Drama, located along Malu Road in Apapa.
Lieutenant Hussaini Ibrahim, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Beecroft, revealed that the mission was part of the Navy’s ongoing commitment to dismantling illicit networks and supporting national security efforts.

In a statement made on Wednesday, Lieutenant Ibrahim highlighted the importance of the intelligence that triggered the raid, emphasising that such operations are crucial in ensuring safety and order.
“The raid was carried out based on actionable intelligence regarding the presence of suspected drug peddlers in Gidan Drama. This prompted the deployment of Operation MESA to address the criminal activities,” he explained.
The successful operation underscores the Nigerian Navy’s targeted strategy to disrupt key drug trafficking hubs in Lagos, with the Gidan Drama area identified as a notorious hotspot for illicit activities.
By focusing on this specific criminal enclave, the Navy has not only disrupted the operations of suspected drug peddlers but also delivered a clear message about the commitment to reducing organized crime in Lagos.
