The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Adolphus Wabara, has criticized President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for their foreign trips, suggesting that both leaders are not prepared for governance.
Wabara pointed out that while Nigeria faces multiple challenges, Tinubu and Shettima have traveled abroad, leaving the country without leadership during critical moments.
In his statement on Monday, Wabara specifically took issue with the timing of their travels, with Tinubu spending two weeks in France for a working visit and Shettima traveling to Dakar, Senegal, to represent the President at the 65th Independence Day celebrations on April 4. He described their simultaneous absence as “the height of executive rascality,” questioning their commitment to the country’s pressing issues.

Wabara remarked, “Mr. President has the right to travel outside the country when necessary, he should duly hand over power to his Vice President in an acting capacity.
“It is absolutely not proper for the VP who should be the Acting president to also travel out of the country while Mr. President is still away.” He expressed disbelief that both the President and Vice President would leave Nigeria at a time when the country was facing serious concerns.
The PDP leader expressed concerns over the lack of leadership during their absence, stating, “How can the country be burning, and the number one and number two citizens of the country be away? This can only happen in Nigeria.” He concluded by emphasizing that Tinubu and Shettima’s actions reflect a disregard for the country’s needs and priorities.
