D’Tigers Beat Uganda, Move To Second Place In Afrobasket Qualifiers

Nigeria’s D’Tigers defeated Uganda 87-67 to record their second win in Group B in the second window of the 2025 AfroBasket qualifying tournament in Tripoli, Libya on Saturday.

Recall that the Nigerian basketball team had opened their campaign with a 75-70 win against hosts Libya on Friday.

The win took D’Tigers to second place behind leaders Cape Verde who will take on Libya later on Saturday.

Uganda took the first quarter 16-12 and also finished ahead in the second quarter by 34-28.

In the third quarter Ugandan emerged tops again this time by 59 points to 55.

But in the fourth quarter D’Tigers mounted a dominant display to overcome their opponent.

D’Tigers will be in action on Sunday to face Cape Verde in their final Group B fixture.

The team must win their next game in order to move on in the competition and guarantee their place in the AfroBasket 2025.
