The Borno State Police Command has arrested three suspects for stealing sewing machine heads from the Dala Lawanti Skills Acquisition Centre.
In a statement released on Thursday, Borno police spokesperson Nahum Daso revealed that Kaka Mustapha, a security guard at the centre, conspired with two others, Ibrahim Mohammed and Bukar Mustapha, to commit the crime.
“On the 22/03/2025, at about 1400HRS, One Kaka Modu Mustapha 34yrs, a security guard at Dala Lawati Skills Acquisition Center, conspired with (2) Bukar Mustapha, 16yrs, and (3) Ibrahim Mohammed, 17yrs, and stole 19 sewing machine heads from the center,” the statement reads.

Following a complaint, the police swiftly launched an investigation, which resulted in the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of some stolen items.
“Upon receiving the complaint, the divisional police officer, Bulumkutu division and team promptly launched an investigation, leading to the arrest of the three suspects and recovery of 6 out of the 19 sewing machines stolen.”
The police are still working to recover the remaining sewing machines.
“The case is still under investigation, and efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining stolen items.”
The command also reassured the public of its commitment to security and urged citizens to stay alert.
“The command reiterates its commitment of ensuring safety and security for all and calls on members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities within their domain.”
