“Na By Force?” – Mr Macaroni Slams Delta Nursing College For Threatening Student Over Viral Video Mocking First Lady

Comedian and activist Mr Macaroni has reacted to the Delta State College of Nursing Sciences’ decision to query and threaten disciplinary action against a student, Osato Edobor, over a viral video mocking First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.

The comedian took to his X platform on Friday to criticise the school’s move, questioning why a student should face punishment for refusing to acknowledge Mrs Tinubu as their mother.

He wrote: “Delta State College of Nursing Sciences is threatening a student with disciplinary action because of song??? The students say dem sabi their mama!! Students wey their mama dey work hard to give them better life.. una wan come expel them because them refuse to deny their mama? Na by force???”

His reaction comes after a query issued to Edobor went viral on Friday. The document, signed by the college provost, Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne, accused the student of singing, recording, and posting the controversial video.

Edobor was given 24 hours to respond to the allegations. The query reads: “It has come to the notice of the school authority that you, Student Nurse Osato Edobor on the 25th of March, 2025 during official visit of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON at Dome Event Center, Asaba for the Renewed Hope Initiative Health Programme and distribution of 10,000 Professional Kits (Crocs and Scrubs) to Midwives in each Geopolitical Zone of Nigeria South South Zone, was found to be engage in malicious act of recording/singing and posting unofficial response to song during the arrival of the First Lady (found on your Tittok Page).”

The school further stated that her actions violated its Student Handbook under “standardised disciplinary action for some punishable offences No. 8, Page 21,” which makes it a punishable offence.

The controversy began during Mrs Tinubu’s visit to Asaba, where an MC at the event attempted to lead student nurses in a praise song, referring to the First Lady as their mother.

The MC sang, “Na our mama be this o, we no get another one,” expecting the students to join in agreement. However, they responded, “Na your mama be this o eh,” rejecting the claim that she was their mother.

In another attempt, the MC added Mrs Tinubu’s name: “Na our mama be this o, Oluremi Tinubu.”

But the students stood their ground, singing, “Na your mama be this eh eh.”

The school’s decision to discipline Edobor has sparked widespread debate, with many agreeing with Mr Macaroni that the students should not be punished for their response. The comedian’s statement reflects the growing criticism of the institution’s actions, as Nigerians continue to question whether rejecting the First Lady as their mother should lead to disciplinary consequences.
