Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revoked the land occupancy rights of the national secretariat of Peoples Democratic Party in Abuja.
In a letter dated March 13, 2025, and addressed to PDP National Chairman, Umar Damagum, on Tuesday, the Director of Land Administration at the FCT Administration, Chijioke Nwankwoeze, said that the decision was made due to non-payment of ground rent by the party.
The letter, titled, ‘Notice of Revocation of Right of Occupancy With File No. MISC 81346 in respect of Plot No.243 within Central Area District, Abuja’.
FCTA official alleged that PDP has refused to pay the annual fee, expected of land owners for the right to occupy and use their property, in the last 19 years, between January 1, 2006 and January 1, 2025.
The letter reads: “This is despite the many publications made by the FCT administration since 2023 in several national dailies and on electronic media requesting all allottees of plots in the Federal Capital Territory to pay up every outstanding bills and ground rents on their properties.
