FIFA president Gianni Infantino is contemplating having Drake perform at the 2026 World Cup halftime show.
In an interview on Good Day New York, shared on Instagram on Thursday, Infantino showed interest in featuring the Canadian rapper after host Rosanna Scotto suggested him to spark a rivalry with Kendrick Lamar.
“I have a great idea for you for the halftime – Drake. Because you were at the Super Bowl—Kendrick Lamar dissed him at the Super Bowl. Drake comes back for a bit of a rivalry, ” Scotto suggested.

Infantino responded by calling it a “good idea,” noting that he already has a connection with Drake, who attended FIFA’s announcement of the 2026 World Cup host cities.
“That’s a good idea. Actually, Drake was with us when we announced the host cities. I should have his number saved somewhere,” he said.
“I expect to be sitting right next to you when you sign him on the dotted line,” Scotto said.
The FIFA president then responded: “We will do that”.
Infantino seems eager to leverage the high-profile rivalry between Drake and Kendrick Lamar.
The feud escalated following Lamar’s standout performances in 2024, with tracks like Meet the Grahams and Not Like Us, which many saw as a triumph over Drake.
Lamar’s momentum carried into 2025 with standout performances at the Grammy Awards and the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
On Wednesday, Infantino revealed that the 2026 World Cup final would include a Super Bowl-style halftime musical performance.
The 2026 World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
