“Fame Doesn’t Heal Wounds Of Parental Rejection” – Dayo Amusa On Asake’s Family Controversy

Nollywood actress Dayo Amusa has shared her thoughts on the ongoing controversy surrounding singer Asake and his father, expressing empathy for the artist while urging people to show him love rather than judgment.

In a social media post on Saturday, Amusa reflected on Asake’s upbringing, suggesting that his childhood may have been marked by pain and unresolved family issues.

She noted that when Asake covered his face in tattoos, she had initially thought he was either rebranding or hiding emotional wounds he was not yet ready to confront.

“His childhood remains a mystery—some say his father was absent, others claim his mother was harsh. But I won’t judge a father who left or a mother who did what she could. What matters is that Asake deserves love, not a public spectacle,” she wrote.

Addressing the impact of parental rejection, Amusa stated that fame does not heal such wounds, adding that children who grow up feeling unloved navigate life differently from those who receive affection from their parents.

Instead of adding to the criticism surrounding Asake, Amusa chose to send him love, emphasising the need for understanding.

She wrote, “When Asake covered his face in tattoos, I once remarked that he was either rebranding or masking a pain he wasn’t ready to confront.

“His childhood remains a mystery—some say his father was absent, others claim his mother was harsh. But I won’t judge a father who left or a mother who did what she could. What matters is that Asake deserves love, not a public spectacle.

“Fame doesn’t heal the wounds of parental rejection. A child raised on “I love you” moves through life differently than one who hears, “I want nothing to do with you.” Some wounds money cannot fix—only deep, intentional healing can.

“Rather than judge, I choose to send love to this remarkable artist.

“To parents: Be present. Be the voice your child hears before the world tries to define them. A child who feels truly seen and loved at home has less to prove to the world.

“As a victim of such circumstances, I can relate.

I wish him well.”

Her message comes amid the ongoing family drama involving Asake and his father, Fatai Odunsin, also known as Malo. A video recently surfaced showing Odunsin pleading for financial assistance while battling a stroke, which sparked discussions online about Asake’s role in his father’s struggles.
