PSG Knock Liverpool Out Of Champions League, Advance To Quarter Finals

Liverpool are out of Champions League after Paris Saint-Germain made history to knock them out on 4-1 penalties shootout at Anfield.

The Reds had won first leg away from home and achieved the feat from the spot when Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones saw penalties saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma on Tuesday.

PSG entered the game with a 1-0 deficit in Paris last week but Ousmane Dembele levelled it up early from close range and finished it 1-1 on aggregate with neither side able to find the net again during extra time.

Mohamed Salah missing two opportunities before Dembele’s goal and Dominik Szoboszlai having a goal disallowed for offside.

The French club will play winner of Aston Villa and Club Brugge in the last round of eight.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will need to pick themselves up for Carabao Cup final on Sunday, as Nunez and Jones included, while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate went off injured.

The Premier League title awaits but Liverpool’s European dream is over for this season.

Also on Tuesday, Barcelona eliminated Benfica out Champions League race after a comfortable home performance against the Portuguese side.

Two goals from Raphinha and a goal from Lamine Yamal was enough to sent the Catalants to the next round of the competition in a 4-1 aggregate result.

Bayern Munich also defeated city’s rivals, Leverkusen both home and away, while Italian side, Inter Milan, taught Feyenoord bitter lesson.
