Nigeria’s Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, has assured that the country is capable of catering to its citizens’ health needs, despite the exit of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).
Pate’s statement via Channels Television’s Politics Today comes on the heels of allegations made by US Congressman Scott Perry, who accused USAID of funding terrorist organizations like Boko Haram.

The Minister, on Friday, emphasized Nigeria’s self-sufficiency, saying, “We may be a poor country, but we are a capable country, and we are determined to own up to that responsibility.”
He further added, “If others step in and support us, we appreciate it, but we are not begging for it, and we also will live within what we have.”
