Police in Congo Fire Tear Gas as Protesters Attack Embassies Over M23 Rebel Crisis –

Police in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, has yesterday on 28 January 2025 fired tear gas to disperse protesters attacking embassies.

Demonstrators have accused leaders of Rwanda, France, and the US of being complacent in the M23 rebels’ seizure of the city of Goma.

Demonstrators burnt tires and clashed with police, with the French embassy briefly catching fire.
The embassies of France, the United States, Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya were targeted, according to sources.

The protests followed the M23 rebels’ advance into Goma, which has escalated the decades-long conflict.
