Senator Ned Nwoko Resigns From PDP; Cites Deep Divisions, Factionalisation

Ned Nwoko, Senator representing Delta North, has formally resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing deep divisions and irreconcilable factions within the Party.

In his resignation letter sighted on Friday Nwoko expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s current state, stating, “My decision to resign is first and foremost due to the deep divisions and factionalisation within the party.

“This fragmentation has made it increasingly difficult to foster unity and advance the collective interests of our people,” the letter dated January stated.

Nwoko’s decision to leave the PDP comes after serving the party since its inception in 1999.

He attributed his resignation to the Party’s nternal strife, highlighting a recent incident where top party functionaries engaged in physical altercations.

“Just this week, precisely on the 29th of January, the top party functionaries degenerated to the lowest levels by physically fighting themselves arising from the stated factions, which have become irreconcilable,” he revealed.

Despite his resignation, Nwoko reassured his constituents of his unwavering dedication to serving them.

“While I bid farewell to my membership in the PDP, I assure all party members and my constituents of my unwavering dedication to statesmanship,” he said.

Nwoko’s resignation has sparked speculation about his potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), although this has not been officially confirmed.
