Zamfara: Terrorist Leader, Bello Turji Flees, Abandons Son, Combatants


Notorious terrorist leader, Bello Turji is currently on the run after a fierce battle with troops of Operation Fansan Yamma in Zamfara.

The military operation, which took place on January 17, resulted in the killing of Turji’s son and several other terrorists.

According to a statement by the Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, the troops carried out a coordinated operation along the Shinkafi, Kagara, Fakai, Moriki, Maiwa, and Chindo axis.

The operation not only resulted in the killing of Turji’s son but also destroyed the terrorists’ logistics hub and rescued several kidnapped hostages.

The statement added that “The terrorist leader, Bello Turji, in a gross cowardly act escaped abandoning his son and combatants.”

This development comes after news of the deaths of Turji’s son and loyalists circulated in the Arewa community, eliciting excitement among many.

In a related development, the troops also destroyed another terrorist camp known as Idi Mallam along Zango Kagara Forest.

During the encounter, the troops neutralized three terrorists and arrested three suspected collaborators. The military also recovered two machine guns, one AK47 Rifle, and rescued 61 rustled cattle and 44 sheep.

The military has assured that “Troops are sustaining the onslaught against the terrorist. Overall, troops continue to demonstrate commitment to the safety and protection of all citizens across the country.”
