NyaGo Music Threatens to Expose Malawian ‘Baby Oil’ Users – Face of Malawi

Malawian female traditional artist Lucy Gondwe, populary known as Nyago Music, has bravely spoken out against the rampant abuse within Malawi’s music industry.

Drawing parallels with the recent controversies surrounding American rapper P Diddy, Nyago made a Facebook post urging the public to recognise and address the exploitation and mistreatment faced by artists, particularly women.

“We have a lot of baby oil users in our Malawian (African) industry as well, and nobody says anything about it out of fear of losing their jobs, careers, positions, names, lives, relationships, etc.,” Nyago revealed, shedding light on a culture of silence that has persisted for too long.

In her frank remarks, Nyago disclosed the harrowing experiences she endured in her journey to success, including being forced to suck things and sometimes being raped.

“Maybe I should expose some of these freaks because I had hidden cameras in each house I’ve lived, and I have enough data. Truth must be told,” she stated, signalling a decisive stand against the injustices in her field.

Nyago’s courage ignites a much-needed conversation about the challenges faced by artists in Malawi and the importance of standing together to support those without a voice as netizens are curious to know the names.
