Shehu Sani, a former Nigerian Senator, activist and author have explained the need for the government and political personalities to respect the rule of law.
In a recent tweet, Shehu Sani disclosed that In the last eight years, the Buhari administration and some state Governors disobeyed Court orders. Some of them even arrested and send their critics to jail. They have no respect for the rule of law. They have forgotten that power is transient. Today, they are at the mercy of those in power and the rule of law is their only shield. Those in power today should also have respect for the rule of law, it’s the pillar of every democratic society, Shehu Sani said.
Recall that the incident that occurred at the Nigerian Federal High Court has raised fresh concerns about the law and order following Godwin Emefiele’s bail approval by the High Court in Abuja. However, the operatives of State Service and the Nigerian Prison Officials got involved in a custodial disagreement with Emefiele which ended up confrontation at the Court premises.
