APC’s Complaint About Adeleke’s Appointments Illogical—Gov. Spokesperson

The Spokesperson to Osun State Governor, Olawale Rasheed, has said the attack on the appointments made by his principal, Ademola Adeleke, from the opposition All Progressives Congress was illogical.
Rasheed was reacting to a statement by the APC state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, where he berated Adeleke for giving the sensitive position of the chairman, Local Government Service Commission to Tunji Adeleke (Jnr).
Adeleke spokesperson, who said the appointees were eminently qualified, said APC appointees in the last government performed woefully and ran the state aground.

UNILAG Hikes Tuition Fee

The management of the University of Lagos UNILAG, Akoka, Lagos, has increased the school fee payable by undergraduates of the university.
Previously, students of the institution paid N19,000, but the management has fixed new fees at N190,250 for students studying medicine, while for courses that require laboratory and studio, they are to pay N140,250.
Programmes that do not require lab and studio are fixed at N100,750.
This was contained in statement dated July 20, 2023 by the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) UNILAG branch following a meeting with the top management staff.
According to SSANU, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola, met with representatives of the three non-academic staff unions on Thursday, July 20, to discuss issues concerning members’ welfare.
The union, in the statement, said the VC stated that fees would be increased for UNILAG undergraduates.
Nasarawa Gov: N8,000 Palliative Is A Lot For Some Families

Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has defended the N8,000 palliative the Federal Government is proposing to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy among the poor.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics on Friday, he said N8,000 is a substantial amount for many impoverished families who do not usually receive such in a month.
He recalled how many families benefited from the previously distributed N5,000 as palliatives, arguing that the current move is justifiable.
“We were sharing only N5,000 and believe me there were so many people that were waiting for that N5,000 every month. Indeed, there were some communities that were able to do some kind of contributions and they were able to do a lot in their various communities.”

Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 presidential election has asked the Presidential Election Petition Court to uphold the order of the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division, in the case in which President Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) forfeited the sum of $460,000 as proceeds of narcotics trafficking and money laundering.
In his final written address in response to the final written address of President Tinubu and the Vice President, Kashim Shettima at the 2023 Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, Obi told the court that Tinubu had never challenged the US court order in any court of competent jurisdiction since 1993 when the order was made till date.
He said that his submission “is predicated on the decision of the United States District Court, Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division, in Case No: 93C 4483, which ordered ‘that the funds in the amount of $460,000 in account 263226700 held by First Heritage Bank in the name of Bola Tinubu represents the proceeds of narcotics trafficking or were involved in financial transactions in violation of 18 USC §1956 and 1957’. The decision encapsulated in the Order is tendered as Exhibit PA5 before this Honourable Court.
